2 Invitation from ISEC 2017 Japan Association of Solvent Extraction (JASE) has been established in 1981 at the proposition of extensive researchers and engineers in the fields of analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, atomic energy engineering, and metallurgy. JASE is contributing to the development of researches related to the solvent extraction in Japan, by providing the opportunity for discussing and exchanging the knowledge of the extensive researchers in the widespread fields of solvent extraction. International solvent extraction conference (ISEC), which is held alternately every 3 years is the major solvent extraction events worldwide. In 1990, ISEC has been held in Kyoto, as the first ISEC conference in Japan. Since 27 years have passed, ISEC 2017, which is the second meeting in Japan, will be held at Seagaia Convention Center in Miyazaki City. In the last ISEC 2014 conference held in Würzburg (Germany), 311 participants from 27 countries attended. In this conference ISEC 2017, we expect more than 350 participants from more than 30 countries. In this meeting, a variety of papers on Solvent Extraction including metal recycling, environmental applications, water treatment, biological & pharmaceutical application, and nuclear fuel application will be presented. ISEC is the only international conference in which world leading scientists and engineers in the field of solvent extraction meet together.
