2 Scientific Workshop January 23-24, 2014 Based on the success of the recent years, the International Workshop offers the exchange of strategies and approaches in the fields of particle and dispersion characterization as well as material testing. Representatives from different industries and research organization highlight their experiences, methods and solutions, when solving challenges using LUMiSizer and LUMiReader, LUMiFuge, LUMi- Check and LUMiFrac instruments. The workshop is established as a networking event within the LUM user community and it is proved to be again also very attractive for people attending previous workshops. People entering the fascinating world of dispersions and particles or starting with the investigation of composite material benefit from first-class information at first hand, facilitating your current work and future decision. Abstract Submission Authors are kindly invited to submit a one-page abstract as word or pdf-file by to support@lum-gmbh.de. Deadline for abstract submission is 30 October Notification of acceptance will be send by till 15 November Abstracts will be published on *Presenting authors are registered to the International Workshop 2014 for free. The Workshop is held in English language.

3 Young Scientist Award To foster the career of young scientific research colleagues (students and graduates) LUM offers the Young Scientist Award (YSA) Eligible for YSA are students and young scientists that: 1. Have achieved significant results in their scientific work by using LUM instruments within the last two years. 2. Confirm the importance of the results by the submission of a copy of the master or doctoral thesis, publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal or detailed description of work (if not published yet). 3. Submit a detailed one-page abstract (see previous page for terms). 4. Accompany a letter of reference by their supervisor. 5. The laureate(s) will be invited to present the results in an oral contribution during the workshop. The laureate(s) will be informed by the programme committee till 15 November The award covers the participation and travel expenses to the workshop, too.
