Golden Wedding Anniversary Celebration Bishop Malesic invites all couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary during the calendar year 2017 to participate in a special Golden Jubilee Mass to be held at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral on Sunday, October 15, at 3:00 PM. The Jubilarians, their children, relatives or friends should contact either or St. Mary to register the couples for this celebration. St. Mary of Czestochowa Parish 125th Anniversary St. Mary of Czestochowa will celebrate their 125th Anniversary in Volunteers are needed for a committee to aid in planning special activities to commemorate this momentous event. A kick-off planning meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 16, at 6:00 PM in St. Mary Friendship Hall. If interested, please contact Debbi Askin at to confirm your attendance. Volunteers are needed to help with pierogi making for New Kensington Ethnic Day and the Polish Platter, the major fundraising event, beginning on Monday, August 28 through Friday, September 1, in Friendship Hall. 5 Assumption Mass, Rosary & Candlelight Procession Bishop Edward C. Malesic will host a special celebration of the Solemnity of the Assumption, the patronal feast of the diocese, on Tuesday, August 15, at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of the Bishop Connare Center. Immediately following the Mass, a candlelight procession and recitation of the rosary will take place in honor of the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima. Summer Diocesan Drug Education and Prayer Services The Summer Diocesan Drug Education and Prayer Service Evenings, which Bishop Edward C. Malesic announced in A Pastoral Letter on the Drug Abuse Crisis: From Death and Despair to Life and Hope, concludes on Wednesday, August 16, at St. Thomas More University Parish, Indiana. The sessions all begin at 7:00 PM and are open to the public. There will be an educational presentation about the opioid epidemic in the region, a question-and-answer session and a prayer service led by Bishop Malesic. Read the pastoral letter at 9th Annual Marian Celebration All are invited to gather to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Czestochowa on Wednesday, August 23, at 7:00 PM in St. Paul s Cathedral, 108 Dithridge Street, Pittsburgh with a special Mass celebrated by His Excellency, the Most Reverend David A. Zubik, Bishop of Pittsburgh. This celebration, in honor of Our Lady of Czestochowa and sponsored by the Polish Falcons Heritage Foundation and the Polish Falcons of America, is a rare opportunity for the Polish community of Western PA to express our devotion as well as our pride in the Polish heritage.
