In addition, we offer numerous programs in the areas of adult and youth sports, rentals, and special events. MISSION STATEMENT To enhance community wellness and quality of life by providing diverse recreational experiences, exceptional park programs and well maintained facilities. 6 General Information REFUND POLICY In the event of insufficient registration or other circumstances beyond our control, it may be necessary to cancel classes, programs or special events. In such cases, you will be notifi ed and a full refund will be issued. The following refund policies will apply: Classes/Programs: Up to one week prior to the class/program, full refund less $5 administration fee. Within one week of the program, no refunds. Once a class/program has started, no refunds, transfers or credits. Leagues: No refunds will be issued after schedules have been posted. Trips: No refunds will be issued unless space can be filled with wait list registrations. If your space can be fi lled, full refund, less $5 administration fee, will be issued. Pavilions - Shelters - Garden Center - Cellar: All reservations and fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Participation in all Moline Parks and Recreation leagues, programs and events will require a waiver signature. *Please note: We rely on s as our form of communication. 7 MOLINE GARDEN CENTER Address: th Avenue The Moline Garden Center is an indoor facility which may be rented year-round for meetings, family reunions, baby showers, bridal showers, etc. In addition to the meeting room, there is a small kitchen area containing a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and sink for patron use. Set up or clean up time needed must be included in the rental time specifi ed. Call or stop by the park office for more information and to reserve today! Rental Times: All rentals must be made at least one (1) week in advance. Anytime between 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. OR anytime between 6:00-11:00 p.m. * You may rent between the two time slots if your rental is a minimum of six (6) hours. Holidays: One rental per day allowed on each of the following holidays: New Year s Day, President s Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veteran s Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year s Eve. Fees: $50 per hour (3 hour minimum) $100 damage deposit Full payment due at the time of reservation Damage deposits will be refunded to all renters who adhere to the rules and leave the facility and its belongings the way they found it THE CELLAR Address: 3400 Avenue of the Cities Let us take away the stress and mess of your child s party! For the 2 nd year, we will have a theme - Tragic Passings. All registrations collected from this event benefit the perpetual care fund to help sustain and support Moline s Cemeteries. Special Events PROSPECT PARK THROUGH TIME October 6, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Prospect Park - Park 16 th Street & 30 th Avenue Help us move forward by going back... in time. Join us for PROSPECT PARK THROUGH TIME. This event will showcase a historic walking parade at 1:00 p.m. around the pond. Groups will be portraying the different generations the park has witnessed since To lead off the procession the Mayor of the day, John Wessell will be commentating over the procession. Before and after the parade enjoy classic cars, magicians, storytelling. Grab a bite to eat from available vendors. This event is free and open to the public; donations will be encouraged to help support the final Prospect Park projects. Don t leave just yet. Music Guild will be performing Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon with all proceeds benefiting Prospect Park projects too! A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING Saturday, October 6, 7:30 p.m. AND Sunday, October 7, 2:00 p.m. Quad City Music Guild th Avenue In partnership with Quad City Music Guild, join us for A Grand Night For Singing, featuring music and songs from Rogers and Hammerstein! Two show times are available: October 6 at 7:30 p.m. and October 7 at 2:00 p.m. Concessions will be available. Tickets are $25 per person and all proceeds will benefit Prospect Park projects. 10 Special Events SPOOKTACULAR Saturday, October 20, 2:30-5:00 p.m. Prospect Park - Park 16 th Street & 30 th Avenue Join us for a spooktacular time at Prospect Park this October, sponsored by Moline Municipal Credit Union. Kids, come dressed in your costumes for trick-or-treating around the park (trick-or-treating will begin at 3:00 p.m., signaled by staff)! There will be plenty of fun characters to meet along the trail. Participants will also be able to enjoy light refreshments (while supplies last) and a complimentary magic show, performed by the Quad Cities Magic Club. Admission is free. 12 Youth Sports / Programs TINY TYKES CLINIC Ages 3-4 & Parent Partner The tiny tykes will learn basic skills in a clinic format WITH a parent partner. They will not play a structured game nor is this a structured league. Parents will serve as their child s partner and conduct drills with their child. Every child MUST have a parent partner in order to participate. Parent Partner must be 18 years or older. This is a 5-week program. Participants MUST be at least 3 years old and potty trained by the first day. *Please note: we rely on s as our form of communication. Please provide a working at time of registration. You will receive an the week prior to the start date. Session 1: September 10 Registration deadline: August 24, 3:30 p.m. Mondays 5:30-6:15 p.m. Greenvalley Sports Complex - 60 th Street & 50 th Avenue Program #: Fee: $30 (includes t-shirt) FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUES Ages 5-8 This program is designed to teach the basic skills through drills and games in a non-competitive environment. Times may vary based on number of teams. The first week will both be practice days. Pending age group, practices will be held on Mondays/Tuesdays and games will be on Wednesdays/Thursdays. This is a 7-week program, with six (6) games. *Teams/ages may vary based on enrollment. Parent volunteer coaches are necessary to coach teams. The less coaches, the more players will be placed on a team. 15 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL 4 th -8 th Grade Bump, set, spike your way into our Youth Girls Volleyball! Choose from two different, 7-week sessions or play in both! 4 th -5 th grade girls will learn basic skills through fun drills and games. They will work their way into scrimmage games. 6 th -8 th grade can submit teams or join individually and be randomly placed on a team. The first week will focus on some drills to refresh their skills. The remaining six weeks will consist of games. *Game times will vary each week. Parent volunteer coaches are necessary. Please be a part of your child s experience and sign up to coach her team. Let s celebrate our favorite friend s special day together by brining your beloved Teddy or favorite friend to a PJ party. All Teddies and their Tiny Humans are invited to join us for games, snacks and bedtime stories. After the slumber party activities are complete, Tiny Humans will kiss their Teddies goodnight, tuck them in, and leave them for a night of sweet dreams. When you pick your Teddy up, you will be surprised what happens when Teddy Bears get together for an overnighter! 16 Youth Sports / Programs YOUTH TENNIS Presented by the Quad City Tennis Club, the focus will be on learning the fundamentals in a fun and positive environment. Tennis is a sport that gets kids moving, improves balance, agility and hand-eye coordination and can teach self-confidence and self-assurance. By getting your kids into the game, you ll be opening a door to a lifetime of enjoyment. 21 ABOUT MOLINE CEMETERIES The City of Moline Parks and Recreation Department operates two public cemeteries, Riverside Cemetery and Moline Memorial Park. We live and work together and when we also choose burial together, we demonstrate that tradition for centuries to come. Our cemeteries help us focus our memories on the accomplishments of those who have preceded us in death, and are a sign for those who follow that the rich history of our city will be preserved. In addition, fresh flower bouquets are offered for Easter, Mother s Day, Memorial Day and Father s Day. United States Flags are also available for Independence Day. 23 ADOPT-A-PARK The Moline Adopt-a-Park program was designed to improve and enhance Moline parks through community involvement and citizen partnerships. The program allows participants to take an active role in the beautification of our community and help support Moline s park system. Adopt-a-Park will not be used in place of the department s regular maintenance of the parks. In larger parks the adoption areas will be divided into smaller areas. More information can be found at or by contacting Park Operations Manager, Greg Johnson at Volunteer Groups Adopting groups work in conjunction with the Moline Parks and Recreation Department in operating, maintaining and improving their adopted park. Groups will be given recognition on the Moline Parks and Recreation website. Businesses Civic groups Church groups Families Individuals Neighborhood organizations Schools Scout troops Requirements Adopting groups will meet at least 3 times per year, preferably in the spring, mid-summer and fall. Group leaders will distribute and collect signed waivers from all participants. Group leaders will complete a wrap-up form for each group clean-up day (number of volunteers, volunteer hours, etc.). GARDEN GUARDIANS Volunteering The Garden Guardian program is a partnership between Keep Moline Beautiful, the City of Moline and residents who desire to assist in the beautification of specific gardens within the city. Individuals, clubs or civic groups, and even businesses are eligible to choose a garden along Ben Butterworth Parkway or at one of the planting sites near a city building and do what is necessary to make the garden bloom. The City will supply some materials, but the volunteer gardeners are encouraged to use their creativity as well as their muscle to make Moline beautiful.
