It is NOT necessary to call and request a statement. Others who still would like to request a statement, should call the rectory. Donations received after January 1, 2016, will not be included in 2015 donations. Statements will be mailed out after January 10 and everyone should receive their statement by February 1. 4 PRO-LIFE EVENTS January 17: This Sunday is the March for Life in Chicago from 2:00-4:00 p.m. starting at the Federal Plaza January 24: Pro-Life holy hour at St. Louise, 3:00 p.m. in church. Includes rosary, litany, and benediction. Call Marianne, if you would like to lead a decade of the rosary or part of the litany. Join us on the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Thank You...I would like to thank the parish for help in fundraising toward my Eagle Scout project. I exceeded my goal of $2,000 through online and cash donations. As a result, this upcoming March, I am set to carry out my project. I am grateful for the generosity of the parishioners on behalf of the Ronald McDonald House. Patrick Coy SCHOLARSHIP AWARD The Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women will award a $500 renewable scholarship to a girl graduating from high school and continuing her education at a college or university. Annual Catholic Appeal ~ Pledge Report The monthly pledge billings for the Appeal have been mailed. Payment of pledge commitments is important so that our parish will reach or exceed our goal. Additional funds are returned to our parish for use in our ministries. Thank you for your commitment to the Annual Catholic Appeal. March 13, 2016 ASP SUMMER TEEN SERVICE TRIP The Appalachian Service Project (ASP) is a program where teens and adults from all over the country gather in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia to make homes safer, warmer, and drier for those in need. St. Louise teens have participated for the last four years and this year s trip is scheduled for July 3-9. To attend as a teen participant, you must have completed the 8th grade up to just completed high school. Adult volunteers (25 yrs+) are needed to accompany the teens. For more information, contact Kari at THE LOOK OF LOVE What does love look like? It has feet to go to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of others. St. Augustine January Teen Club: Senior High-January 22. Open gym at 8:00. Junior High-January 22, 2:45-4:45, dependent on chaperones. At least one Virtus trained adult is needed. Youth in grades 7-12 are invited. Permission forms at rectory, in the breezeway near Baptismal font, or from Ms. Miller. Pledge packet given when permission form returned. Bible Breakfast On January 24, we will lead members of the parish as we discuss the implications of the readings of the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time and share in the Men s Club pancake breakfast, in the Marillac Room following the 9:30 Mass. February 28: Bible Breakfast following 9:30 Mass ARCHDIOCESAN ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL BEGINS The Hands of God s Mercy Many of our parishioners have received a mailing from Archbishop Cupich asking that you make a pledge to the 2016 Annual Catholic Appeal. Please respond generously. The Appeal supports both parish and Archdiocesan ministries and services. The Appeal funds services that are of great help to ministries here in our parish. This year, the theme of the Appeal is The Hand of God s Mercy. We have all received God s mercy. By financially supporting the ministries and services funded by the ACA, we help to extend God s mercy to many, many others. As you review the mailing from Archbishop Cupich, please note the ministries funded by the Appeal, including the ones that directly support the work of our parish. Then please give generously. When our parish reaches its goal of $34,865 in paid pledges, 100% of the additional funds received will be returned to us for use in our parish. January 17, 2016 Page 5
