3 The Miracle Making Library / La Biblioteca Milagrosa When people ask what I call this library, I say, La biblioteca milagrosa, which means the miracle making library. (Gerardo Mouet, Director Ejecutivo, Parques de Recreación y Servicios Comunitarios) This June, the Santa Ana Public Library was awarded the National Medal for Museum and Library Services at a ceremony held in the East Room of the White House. Mrs. Michelle Obama, who presented the award, told the 2016 winners Day after day, year after year, our nation s libraries and museums are here for our communities. And at the end of the day, you all don t measure your impact by the number of books on your shelves or pieces in your exhibits, but by the young people you inspire, the lives you transform, and the impact you have every single day on your communities. libraries from across the United States. To be nominated, and then selected from among the nation s 123,000 libraries to receive this award is a great honor, and a recognition of the dedication of library staff and volunteers to making Santa Ana Public Library the Miracle-Making Library that Director Mouet has named it. The miracles are counted one by one: One for each community member that comes to the library for help with developing new ing in new directions. Santa Ana Public Library can be your link to books and learning, community resources of all kinds, and new technology in the form of computer access, training, and assistance. al Institute for Museum and Library Services has chosen to name SAPL as one of the best libraries in the United States libraries in serving its community s needs.
