1 LUCY MOSES SCHOOL YOUNG PEOPLE S DIVISION Early Registration Packet for Children and Teens DEAR PARENTS, Our Early Registration Period for the school year is open exclusively to current Lucy Moses School students and will run from March 15 April 30. During this period, you have the opportunity to renew your child s registration for the upcoming school year. Only the $40 registration fee is due at this time. As a reminder, private lesson times do not carry over automatically. Private lesson times for the new school year are assigned in the order registrations are received. Registration opens to new students on May 1, so register early to receive priority! The Dalcroze method s focus on movement and kinesthetic learning is ideally suited to enhance the Suzuki curriculum. For first year violin students, a 30-minute Dalzuki class takes place during the group violin class. For other Suzuki students, participation in Dalzuki classes is strongly encouraged. Placement is based on age and class availability; classes are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Note: Students in their second year and beyond who can sight read simple rhythms fluently may enroll in the Music Theory, Preparatory String Ensemble, Intermediate String Ensemble, or Advanced String Ensemble at no additional cost. 5 COMPOSERCRAFT In this exciting workshop, students will complete original compositions and present them in readings and performances by faculty and professional ensembles. The curriculum includes in-depth listening and score analysis; guided exercises in harmony, counterpoint and compositional techniques; structures such as sonata and fugue forms; and styles such as minimalism. This class also features lectures by composers and performers drawn from New York s vibrant music scene. 7 LUCY MOSES SCHOOL POLICIES Withdrawals and refunds All requests for withdrawal must be received in writing by Lucy Moses School before any student will be considered withdrawn. Written request, either by letter or , should be directed to the Registrar of Lucy Moses School. requests should be sent to org. Verbal requests or notification of intention to withdraw does not fulfill this requirement. Notifying the teacher alone does not constitute notice of withdrawal. Students receiving financial aid or scholarship forfeit their award upon withdrawal. Withdrawal from a group class Young People s Division, Fall, Spring or School Year classes: Withdrawing more than 2 days before classes begin: full tuition credit or refund is available. Withdrawing less than 2 days before classes begin, or after the 1st class has occurred: pro-rated tuition credit or refund is available. Withdrawing after 2 classes have occurred: pro-rated tuition credit or refund is available. Withdrawing after 3 classes have occurred: 50% tuition credit or refund is available. Withdrawing after 4 or more classes have occurred: tuition credit or refund is not available. The registration fee is non-refundable. Withdrawal from a group class Young People s Division, Summer classes: Students withdrawing more than two days before the first summer class/lesson will receive a full tuition refund. A pro-rated tuition refund will be given for students withdrawing after the first summer class session. No refunds will be given after the second summer class session. The registration fee is non-refundable. Withdrawal from Summer Musical Theater Workshop and Summer String Fest: Students withdrawing from these summer programs before June 1 in writing will receive a full tuition refund. No refunds will be given after June 1. The registration fee is non-refundable. Withdrawal from Private Lessons Students must notify the office and teacher two weeks in advance, in writing of the intent to withdraw. A tuition credit or refund for unused private lessons is available minus a $75 withdrawal fee. Students are responsible for the tuition of any lessons scheduled within the two-week notice period. The registration fee is not refundable. Withdrawal from the Suzuki Program Students must notify the LMS office, teacher, and head of the Suzuki program two weeks in advance, in writing of their intent to withdraw. Suzuki group-class tuition can be credited or refunded in accordance with the above mentioned group-class withdrawal policy. A tuition credit or refund for unused private lessons is available minus a $75 withdrawal fee. Students are responsible for the tuition of any lessons scheduled within the two-week notice period. The registration fee is not refundable. Please note: Allow three to four weeks for the processing of refunds. Because of our flexible withdrawal policy, we do not offer trial lessons. The registration fee is nonrefundable. Withdrawal from a group class Adult Division classes: Students withdrawing more than two days before the first class/lesson will receive a full tuition refund. A pro-rated tuition refund will be given for students withdrawing after the first class session. No refunds will be given after the second class session. The registration fee is nonrefundable. CHARGE FOR EXTENDED PAYMENT PLAN Parents may request an extended payment plan, which allows payment in four installments during the year. There is a $25 charge for this. The extended payments must be arranged in writing with the Billing Office. (Not applicable to adult classes.) LATE TUITION Late tuition payments without arrangement for extended payment will be charged a late fee of 2% per month once tuition is 30-days past due. Students lessons and classes will be suspended at 45-days past due if no tuition payment arrangement is made. CANCELLATIONS Lucy Moses School reserves the right to cancel classes not meeting minimum enrollments. The School will make every effort to reschedule the student for another class at a convenient time. PHOTO/RECORDING CONSENT By enrolling in Lucy Moses School, the student or parent/guardian (for students under 18) authorizes the making and use of any photos, videos or recordings of the student during his/her participation in Lucy Moses School classes or events for any purpose Lucy Moses School may make or authorize without compensation to the student or parent/guardian.
