1 PRINCIPAL POSTINGS SCHOOL NEWSLETTER All Saints Catholic School FEBRUARY 3, 2016 Today we gathered as one Catholic school community at SJCA s Upper Campus to celebrate Mass. The two schools combined equaled more than 1400 students and over 120 faculty and staff. Fr. Pat Heppe was the main Celebrant and he was joined by many of our Pastors from the twelve supporting parishes. Brenda White, our Associate Superintendent joined us as did many parents and grandparents. It was a JOYFUL celebration. As the four year olds were entering the doors of SJCA, one of the ASCS West Campus children saw me and said, you work here too?! What an experience for the children to be a part of a regional Catholic school. Our Open Houses were quite successful! Thank you to all who encouraged friends and family to come visit our schools. We had over 30 families visit the school in addition to the 13 who took tours in January and 10 of those families immediately registered. To date, we have 290+ families (450+ students) registered for the 2016/17 school year and it is only the first week of February. Thank you for registering early as it helps us make staffing decisions and begin the planning process. A big thank you to those parents who spoke at the Masses the weekend of our Open House. Many people have commented to me on how effective that was and how much the heartfelt message was appreciated. Tomorrow is Wisconsin Day at ASCS. The children are invited to wear t-shirts and jerseys from their favorite Wisconsin teams. ASCS spirt wear is appropriate attire too as we are a team in Wisconsin too! They do not need to wear uniform bottoms. Friday is PJs and pancakes so the students are invited to wear pajamas or comfy clothes to school. We are having a fun-filled week! 4 Scholastic Writing Award Results are in! Each piece was read and assessed by three judges from around the United States: educators, authors, poets, Creative Writing teachers, graduate students, PhD. candidates, retired English teachers, and local Poet Laureates. The scores are what determine the award given. A Gold Key means that the piece is being recognized as extremely high quality in Emerging Voice, Originality and Technical Skill. A Silver Key means that the piece is solid, strong and worthy of an award close to the top. An Honorable Mention means that the piece shows strong potential. Keep in mind not all works score high enough for an award. Gold Key works are currently being judged in New York at the National level! Good Luck students! 5 ASCS 2016 RAFFLE CALENDAR UPDATE Congratulations! We sold 1,092 calendar raffle entries. We were only 23 calendars away from our goal of $5,000. That should serve as a big pat-on-the-back for a firsttime effort for ASCS North and South campuses and new West Campus families, and an inspiration next year: just 23 more! $10, 920 Income (1,092 Calendars Sold) - $6,150 Expenses ($5,000 payout to winners, $970 calendar printing, $180 postage to mail checks) $4,770 Profit Thank you to all families who purchased calendars, and to those who sold calendars at Masses and to family and friends! Monthly winners' lists will be posted on the school website shortly.
