10 Rocky River High School Detroit Rd. Rocky River Ohio Debra Bernard, Principal Alan Wilhelms, Associate Principal Jeffrey Schultz, Assistant Principal Mark Wagner, Director Athletics & Activities January 21, 2015 Dear Parents/Guardians of Sophomores, The sophomore class will take the state-mandated Ohio Graduation Tests during the week of March 16 20, The Class of 2017 (10th-graders in the school year) will be the last students required to take and pass the current Ohio Graduation Tests to receive a diploma. Tenth graders will take the OGT in five subject areas: reading, mathematics, writing, science and social studies. OGT tests measure academic content through the end of the 10 th grade and are aligned to the Ohio academic content standards. OGT tests will include multiple choice and constructed response questions (short answer and extended response). We ve provided awareness and preparation for OGT via your students regularly scheduled English, math, science and social studies classes. Preparations included the taking of practice tests, review of test-taking strategies and exposure to sample OGT problems on a regular basis. Additionally, students have had opportunities for solving independent review questions via OGT software, i.e. Study Island. To provide optimum testing conditions for sophomores, we will have a delayed start each of the five test days for all students not taking the OGT. Please refer to the enclosed schedule for the delayed school start times and for specific testing dates and times. Please note the schedule features a 2-hour testing period for sophomores and thus, a 2-hour delay to the beginning of school for all other students. If you have questions regarding OGT testing and the alternative schedules to be in effect, please contact Mr. Jeff Schultz, Assistant Principal, at Please be sure your student is on time, both to school and to the tests.
