3 WELCOME TO MUSEUM SCHOOL 2018 Winter I & ll Session Course Catalog Museum School at Cameron Art Museum was inspired by a tradition which thrived from , at the Wilmington Museum of Art School. The Cameron Art Museum Museum School offers ongoing, high-level art education from qualified professional instructors, who are also working artists in our community. Much like the first museum school in Wilmington, instruction is offered in the fundamentals as well as in more deeply engaged levels, as students are encouraged to develop skills through continued classes and workshops. Unique to the Museum School is the museum collection and ever changing exhibitions accessed as teaching tools in classes and weekend workshops. Instructors also have access to an extensive art book and monograph library, Studio I classroom space and Art Education Center. ArtReach at CAM Thanks to the Landfall Foundation for funding a program that benefits 100 first graders at Freeman Elementary School. This program blends art and literacy, allowing students to learn about famous portraits, study artists and art history vocabulary, watch a working artist in action, create their own portraits, and tour the museum. A special thanks to the young philanthropists at New Horizons Elementary School for raising funds for scholarships for the Museum School! This student-driven fundraising project will allow under-resourced youth to participate in summer camps, afterschool classes, and field trips. For more information on how you can give to ArtReach at CAM and make a difference in our community through art, please contact Heather Wilson at hwilson@cameronartmuseum.org.
