3 2. General Rules for Judged Entries: All work must be the artist s original work. The artist may enter no workshop art work unless it is the artist s original composition or design. Work must not have been entered in a judged category in a previous PRC Arts League show. Work must not have won a Best of Show, 1 st or 2 nd place award in any juried art show. The number of entries is unlimited, however only ONE of the entries by an artist may be labeled not for sale (NFS). A Novice entry is a work done by an artist who has worked in the medium for less than two years and has not won a 1 st or 2 nd place award for an item in that medium in any other judged art show. Novice entries are charged the same entry fees as non-novice entries and will be eligible for any cash prizes in the category. In addition, they will compete with other novices for ribbons in that category. Note: It is the ENTRY that is Novice, NOT THE ARTIST. A person may be a novice in one medium and not a novice in others. Nudes are not considered appropriate in any category. The League reserves the right to refuse work that does not meet all criteria. Categories: A Oil B Acrylic C Watercolor D Photography E Mixed or Other Media, Wall Hung Subcategories: Pen, Pencil, Colored Pencil, Ink, Charcoal Pastels Collage F 3 Dimensional Subcategories: Pottery Glass Fabric Arts Sculpture Raised Art Mixed Media Other Carving Jewelry Wood Other Page 3 of 6 Approved 2/2/2016

The artist is responsible for any required assembly or specialized display arrangements. Entry Fees: A Registration Fee may be assessed to all entrants except Student, Senior/Workshop and Special Artists Members: $5.00 per entry Non Members: $10.00 per entry Awards: 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd place cash awards and ribbons will be awarded in each category. Honorable Mention ribbons may be awarded at the discretion of the judge. The Show Chairman will inform the judge of the maximum number of Honorable Mention ribbons to be awarded in any one category. Monetary awards will be given in each category. Recommended amounts are: at least $65 for 1 st place, $40 for 2 nd place, and $25 for 3 rd place. In the E Mixed and Other Media and F - 3Dimensional Categories, only one set of monetary awards will be made. In addition, ribbon awards will be given to winners in the various subcategories if there are 3 or more artists and at least 5 entries in that subcategory. A committee of PRCAL members will determine to which subcategory an entry belongs and identify the entry as such for the judging. Subcategory judging will be done by the official show judge or other qualified person or persons. Other awards may be presented at the discretion of the President together with the Show Chairman. Page 4 of 6 Approved 2/2/2016

5 Judges: The President and/or Chairman of the show will select any judges. Any judge will be a professional qualified judge of art. Remuneration for the judging will be determined by the League president, not to exceed $ per show. No one will accompany the judge during the judging process. Judges for the Youth show or other non-judged groups will be Art League Members. Location/Date: The President will determine the date and location of show, subject to the approval of the membership. Sales: A commission of 20% will be charged on sales of judged or Gallery entries. (See exceptions under Show Workers below). Liability: Although care will be taken in handling entries, the Pearl River County Arts League, Inc. and its assigns assumes no responsibility for damage, theft, or loss of entries in the show. Removal of Work: All work must be removed within one hour of the closing of the show. No work except for clothesline art may be removed before the official closing time. A $1.00 per day storage fee will be paid to the Pearl River County Arts League Inc. for items not picked up on the last day of the show. Gallery: Members who attend 6 regular League meetings during the preceding 12 month period may exhibit four works in the gallery for free. Members attending 6 meetings or more may enter additional items (space permitting) for $5.00 each. Members who attend fewer than 6 meetings may exhibit up to 4 items for $5.00 each. Gallery items may have been exhibited previously. No prints or Giclées may be placed in the gallery. Clothesline: Page 5 of 6 Approved 2/2/2016

6 The Clothesline is reserved for members only, to exhibit smaller items, unframed works or prints. Members may exhibit if they have attended at least 6 meetings. The first 4 entries are free. Additional items are $1.00 each, up to 8 entries. All items must be labeled and recorded with the treasurer. Members who sell clothesline items shall receive payment from the treasurer when other sales payments are made. When a Clothesline item is sold, the tag from the item and the money due must be turned in to the treasurer. Clothesline items may be removed by the purchaser at the time of purchase. Prints and Giclées must be labeled as such. No commission will be charged for clothesline purchases. Show Workers: All members are encouraged to help set up and break down the show. All members are expected to work before or during the show. (This includes but is not limited to: selling tickets and getting purchase awards, paper work, and pre show work). Members who help set up, work shifts, sell scholarship raffle tickets and solicit purchase awards or otherwise work on the show will be charged 10% rather than 20% commission on sales at the show. This will be determined by sign in sheets; it is the member s responsibility to make sure they have signed the necessary papers. ALL members are encouraged to attend the reception for the Purchase Award Patrons. Purchase Awards: A purchase Award is a deposit paid by an art patron prior to the Spring Art Show to be used towards the purchase of an item in the Show. Members of the League solicit Purchase Awards from business owners and other community members who support the arts. Purchase Award Patrons will be identified in the media and at the Spring Art Show. Purchase Award Patrons will have first opportunity to purchase show entries at the Patron reception of the Spring Show weekend. Purchase Award Patrons who have not had activity in their accounts for three years will be notified prior to the 3 rd Show that if the money is not spent, it will be considered a donation to the PRC Arts League.
