Jackson St. Elkhorn, WI C ommunity onnection C January 2016 Friends of the Elkhorn Area School District Awards Ceremony The eighteenth annual Friends of the Elkhorn Area School District awards ceremony is being held on Monday, January 25, 2016 to honor award winners for the school year. The Friends of the Elkhorn Area School District award was designed to recognize outstanding contributions in support of the children of the Elkhorn Area School District. Each year award recipients are nominated for their contributions to the district and presented with student artwork that has been specially chosen and framed. The artwork originates from a different school each year. The artwork for this year s awards was created by students from the Elkhorn Area High School. The artists and recipients are listed below. 2 Page 2 Community Connection January K Registration Tuesday, February 23, :30 to 6:30 PM In the Middle School Cafeteria for Four-year-old Kindergarten Students Registration is for all students wishing to attend four-year-old kindergarten for the school year. Students must be four on or before September 1, K Enrollment Packets will be available by the end of January at Lakeland s Little Learners, Step Ahead Preschool, The Learning Curve, the EASD District Office, and Matheson Memorial Library. 5K Enrollment packets for students who did not attend 4K or are new to the district will be available at Jackson, Tibbets and West Side Elementary Schools and the District Office. You may return your child s 5K enrollment packet to the District Office. 5K students must be five on or before September 1, K students do not need to register for 5K in February. Registration for returning students is in August. These programs incorporate stories, rhymes, music, and discoveries. Join Miss Pattie at the Matheson Memorial Library for the following programs. Toddlers n Books Tuesdays 10:00 or 11:00 a.m. For children 0 5 years and their caregivers. Dates: January 25 February 8, 22 March 14 April 11, 25 Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Bring your ice skates, bring your sleds, bring your lunch (we will provide some snacks and something to drink), and be ready to spend some time ice skating, sledding, and playing in the snow. No snow, too cold, we will be inside doing some winter fun! Date: January 27, 2016 Time: 10:00 a.m. noon Location: Sunset Park Be My Valentine Are you the parent, grandparent or someone special to a 0 5 year old? Come to a special Valentine s Day event for you and your child! There will be treats and special projects. This is a FREE program and no need to pre-register. Parents are also welcome to attend. Come and spend a night with us exploring different apps for our ipads to see all of the fun and educational games your child can play. Your little ones will have a great time learning new games and most likely teaching you a new thing or two. We are going to the 100 Acre Woods with Pooh, Piglet, and all of his friends. This ½ hour long program is made especially for you and your child. There are rhymes, stories, and plenty of fun! Each child will receive a FREE book from Matheson Memorial Library and a FREE book from the Elkhorn Area School District. The Purple and Gold Fund was founded in 1986 with the purpose of promoting post-secondary education through the granting of scholarships to graduating seniors and former graduates as a reward for their academic excellence and exceptional character.
