4 ATHLETIC TRANSPORTATION Transportation to and from all away contests is provided. Students must ride the bus/van provided for all away contests unless prior authorization has been obtained. Parents or students must pick up a standard transportation form in advance from the Athletic Department or Main Office if other arrangements are being made. This release form must be signed and received at least one day prior to the event. We discourage the practice of players traveling to or from games with their parents. We believe that the Team should travel as a Team, and that at times coaching situations may arise during these trips. Parents should only pick up their students with good reason. STUDENTS ARE NEVER ALLOWED TO DRIVE THEIR OWN CARS TO AN AWAY CONTEST. MAY HAPPENINGS May 5 th 14 th Advance Placement Testing 8:00 A.M. Media Center May 10 th PTO Meeting 7:00 P.M. Thomas Crawley Auditorium May 30 th Memorial Day No School PRINCIPAL S P.S. Spring is here finally! As spring fever begins to spread throughout the Jersey Shore, many of us are spending more and more time outdoors, involved in some sort of recreational type of activities. Because we ve waited so long for the weather to break, it s difficult at times to concentrate on everything we need to accomplish either at work or, for our students, at school. As an educational community, however, we must realize that the school year does not end until that final bell rings in June. May is an exceptionally busy time of the year for all of us at Point Pleasant Beach High School. AP testing notwithstanding, there is also a variety of school activities as well as the anticipation of upcoming culminating events, such as the senior class trip and the prom in June. The music concert is also scheduled for this month, and the sports season will be concluding soon. These activities are so very essential for our students because these are just as much a part of the high school experience as are academics. However, as the year begins to wind down, our students have to remember to put the same amount of effort into their schoolwork as they do in their extra-curricular activities. I encourage you to work with us as you always do to continue to emphasize to your son/daughter the importance of completing his/her homework, lab reports, projects, term papers, essays or whatever else it is they need to do. It s easy for students to get caught up in their outside activities and leave their commitment to school work behind. When this happens, very often their grades drop, and for some of our seniors, they even run the risk of not graduating. In the words of Yogi Berra, It s never over til it s over. For our students at Point Pleasant Beach High School, this
5 means for them to commit themselves to their studies until the last day of their final exams. With all of us working together, I am completely confident that our students will finish the school year on a strong note. Happy Spring! Terri M. King. Principal
