The Epicenter is a true all-hands entertainment megacomplex for the en joyment of the entire Great Lakes com munity. The facility features a 28-lane bowling center, Legends Sports Club, a movie theater, Spinz restaurant, amusements, billiards as well as live entertainment (Live@525), which is programmed on a regular basis with comedians, bands, DJs, pay-per-view events and other special happenings throughout the year. For hours and scheduled events, go to mwrgl.com. Bowling The 28-lane, contemporary bowling center was designed for comfort and enjoyment for everyone. Bowlers may customize their lane for a personalized experience by selecting from a variety of scoring environments and game options to make it truly unique. The seating arrangement allows groups to socialize with friends in style. There are bumpers for the little ones and glow-in-the-dark bowling for everyone. Legends Sports Club It is the place to go to unwind and meet friends or watch all of those favorite sporting events on one of 11 TVs. The club derived its name from the many Hall of Famers who have played at the Naval Station Great Lakes. The walls are adorned with photos and information of the athletes, as well as vintage sports equipment. A Patio Bar is open during the spring and summer months, complete with full bar service, live entertainment, a jukebox, TVs, games and comfortable seating. Movies This 175-seat state-of-theart movie theater offers a high quality viewing and sound experience for a truly en joyable experience for everyone. Plus, the comfortable, cushioned seating is an added benefit. The Navy Motion Picture Service provides the theater with first-run movies at affordable prices. The Liberty Program is for enlisted personnel, E-1 through E-6. It is based out of the Loft Recreation Center. Special events, workshops, tournaments, trips and more are scheduled on and off base each month, offering a variety of Liberty programs and activities. The Loft is a contemporary facility, featuring free activities, such as billiards, Ping Pong, foosball, air hockey and shuffleboard. Plus, there are music rooms stocked with guitars, drums and keyboards. The facility also has a computer lab with free Wi-Fi. The Pick and Play Rooms provide a library of more than 700 movies and nearly 300 video games for students to watch and play for free. The Loft also offers a huge video arcade, a snack bar and a mini movie theater with a 120-inch projection screen. The Great Room equipped with 42-inch flat screen LED televisions, couches, tables, chairs, board games and free books and coffee offers a place to relax or study. The Loft is an alcohol- and tobacco-free facility. 3 GREAT LAKES YOUTH CENTER Bldg. 8190, Forrestal Village, Boys & Girls Club of America and 4-H member The Great Lakes Youth Center offers before and after school age care, summer and holiday day camps, special events and youth and teen programming including open recreation and day trips. SAC and the youth and teen programs are affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of America and 4-H. The Great Lakes Youth Center also offers youth sports and fitness programs, along with instructional and recreational classes and programs. Child Care Services Before and After School Age Care Reserve space for hourly care Parents Night Out is $16 and will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 9 for kindergartners to sixth grade at Youth Center. Registration deadline is Feb. 2. Youth & Teen programs Fun activities that foster character and leadership, health and life skills, the arts, sports and recreation, education and career development and technology. Youth Center is open from noon to 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. 6 6 WILLOW GLEN GOLF CLUB Bldg (Golf Course, Pro Shop and Buckley s Restaurant), The Willow Glen Golf Club and Buckley s Restaurant will be closed until spring but will still be open for parties. The Willow Glen Golf Club is home to a picturesque 18-hole layout that provides a challenge for all skill levels. Practice facilities include a driving range with natural grass tee stations and a putting green. A clubhouse with a golf shop and a restaurant complements the golf course, making Willow Glen one of the finest facilities in the Navy. Private parties are still available throughout the winter. Ages 10 to 18 are authorized and required to sign themselves in and out. Co-ed Youth Volleyball: Season starts Feb. 20 for ages 5 to 18. It costs $50. Register by Feb. 16. Preballet and Dance & Tumbling: The program will be from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 5 to March 19, for ages 3 to 6. It costs $35 for seven sessions. Registration is required by Feb. 2. Grade School Ballet, Tap and Interpretive Dance: The program will be from 5:35 to 6:20 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 5 to March 19, for ages 7 and older. It costs $35 for seven sessions. Registration is required by Feb. 2. Volunteers: The next training session will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 17 for volleyball. Training sessions will take place at the Great Lakes Youth Center. 7 RIGHT: Winter boat storage is still available. The marina has room for both sailboats and powerboats of varying sizes. The boat storage fees are based on the overall length of the boat. Also available are services such as shrink wrapping and winterizing. There are openings for boat slips and dry storage for spring. Daily and seasonal launching permits also will be sold. In the boathouse is the Ship Store, which sells boating, fishing and hunting supplies, as well as licenses. Along the lakefront, there is an archery range, a beach and beach house, picnic areas and shelters, a 20-site RV park and prim itive campsites. The propane filling station is open.
