3 6 May 14 & 15, 2016 ENGINE COMPANY OPERATIONS/WITH LIVE SMOKE ECOP 16 HOURS PREREQUISITE: ELIF This course provides instruction in the duties and responsibilities of an engine company. Topics include: positioning of apparatus, use of attack and back-up lines, search and rescue, and water supply. Student will need: TOG, SCBA Instructor: Dan Hunt RURAL FIREGROUND WATER MOVEMENT RFWM 16 HOURS PREREQUISITE: ELIS This course will provide the student with instruction in the basic concepts of rural water movement in support of fire ground operations. Topics covered include: drafting, use of portable pumps, tanker fill operations, relay pumping and water flow calculation. Student will need: TOG Instructor: Don Neilson EMERGENCY VEHICLE DRIVER TRAINING PROGRAM EVDT 16 HOURS PREREQUISITE: ELIS Must be 18 years old to complete EVDT CE # hours 0/16 This course, developed by Volunteer Firemen s Insurance Services, provides instruction in techniques of driving emergency vehicles under all conditions. Students will learn the importance of vehicle dynamics, driver selection, condition and preparation on safe vehicle operations. The course includes practice on a driving course laid out to simulate various driving conditions. Also included is a section on service and preventive maintenance. If possible student should arrange to bring the vehicle they will be driving to the class on Sunday. TRAINING MAKES THE DIFFERENCE As a firefighter or EMS provider your training in the basic and advanced techniques prepare you to fight fire with fire and care for Medical Emergencies. Training will help you to make on-the-spot decisions that are so vital to other people s lives...and maybe your own. You are an asset to the firefighting or EMS team and your community. Tri-County offers the courses that will give you certification by the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy or Pa. Dept. of Health when completed successfully. Training does make the difference! 3 INCIDENT SAFETY OFFICER ISO 16 HOURS PREREQUISITE:NICS-FS or NICS-EMS or ICS and training to the Haz-Mat First Responder Operations level The Safety officers responsibilities fall into two clear cut categories: those associated with responding at the incident scene, and those associated with managing the day to day affairs of the department. The Incident Safety Officer (ISO) course is focused on the incident and the role the Safety Officer plays as part of the Command Staff. The target audience is Company Officers (CO) who are experienced in firefighter safety issues and are familiar with an Incident Command System, hazardous materials management, and related emergency operations. The program provides the student with the decision-making process and skills required to recognize unsafe acts and conditions and take appropriate corrective actions. Instructor: Dave Watkins

4 NEW!!! NFPA 1670 Vehicle Rescue Classes 4 5 First Time Taught In The Tri-County Area April 2 nd, 3 rd and April 9 th, 2016 The required manual will be included in the cost of the class. NFPA 1670 VEHICLE RESCUE AWARENESS NVRA 24 HOURS PREREQUISITES: HMA OR HIGHER CE # hours 1 Trauma / 23 Other Minimum age for this class is 16 by the first day of class. This just released class will provide the student with an awareness level of knowledge and skills necessary to respond to and function at a vehicle accident/rescue incident. Topics will include: general vehicle rescue function/operation; incident management; vehicle anatomy, design and construction; recognition and control of hazards; and the tools & equipment used. Student will MUST have: Vehicle Extrication Levels I & II: Principles and Practices published by Jones & Bartlett 2012; pen/pencil & notebook suitable for classroom/field use; protective clothing to include helmet, gloves, footwear (per either NFPA 1951 or 1971, eye protection (per ANSI Z87.1) and hearing protection. Student Note: Lunch will not be provided on April 2 and 3, Student will be alloted time to leave site and get lunch! Instructor:? Part 2 of this new curriculum will provide the student with an operations level of knowledge and skills necessary to respond to and function at a vehicle accident/rescue incident. Topics will include: incident management; tools/equipment; vehicle anatomy/design; hazard control; patient access, care and packaging; disentanglement; extrication; and termination. Student MUST have: Vehicle Extrication Levels I & II: Principles and Practices published by Jones & Bartlett 2012; pen/pencil & notebook suitable for classroom/field use; protective clothing to include helmet, gloves, footwear (per either NFPA 1951 or 1971, eye protection (per ANSI Z87.1) and hearing protection. Instructor:? April 9, 2016 EMS CON-ED CON-ED 8 HOURS PREREQUISITE: NONE This course provides a time to update Continuing Education Hours for EMS Personnel. Topics will vary. Class will be taught by City of Bradford Paramedics. April 10, 2016 Classes run from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm The following class is presented to meet the minimum requirements for Fire Police to qualify for PA State Line of Duty Death Benefit. Although this class is geared to the needs of Fire Police it is open to everyone. FIRE POLICE HAZMAT AND FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING HMAFE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AWARENESS LEVEL HMA 4 HOURS PREREQUISITE: NONE CE # hours 0/4 This course will provide instruction in the basic skills of identifying hazardous materials problems in a community, recognize hazardous materials presence, identify hazardous materials and the associated hazard characteristics. EMPLOYEE SAFETY & FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING 3 HOURS PREREQUISITE: NONE This class will provide Fire Police with the basic knowledge of the different types of fire extinguishers and the skills needed to utilize them in an emergency situation. It will also cove Chemistry of Fire/Fire Behavior. Instructor: Mike Burgoon April 9,10 & 16, 2016 PA-130/190 - BASIC WILDLAND FIREFIGHTING PA-130/ HOURS PREREQUISITE: This course will develop basic skills and knowledge needed by entry level wildland firefighters that will enable them to fight wildfires under the supervision of a fire warden or experienced wildland firefighter. The course emphasizes safety, basic skills and teamwork in preparing individual wildland firefighters to work together as an effective firefighting unit. Student Equipment / Supply Needs: Notebook; pen & pencil; Field exercises require student to wear leather, non-composition, lug sole, 8 top (minimum) boots; leather gloves; non-synthetic long sleeved shirt, non-synthetic, cuffless pants (Nomex is acceptable); non-metalic hard hat with chin strap and eye protection. DCNR Instructors April 9 & 10, 2016 FIRE FIGHTER SURVIVAL SURV 16 HOURS PREREQUISITE: ELIF CE # hours 0/2.5 This is a comprehensive program dealing with the knowledge and skill needed to effect rescue as a member of a Rapid Intervention Team. The course also demonstrates lastditch self-rescue techniques (some of which are not seen in the books). These emergency procedures, though involving some risk themselves, are designed to be useable when the only other alternative is to die. Emphasis will be placed on search techniques, communications, accountability, and self-rescue procedures. This course is best suited to students who, in addition to the prerequisite training, have at least a ground-floor level of on-the-street practical firefighting experience.
