5 Personally Owned Unmanned Aircraft Systems ( Drones ) The Hobbyist Unmanned Aircraft Area (HUAA) is located across from the Lewis Army Museum and borders McKay Marsh on Lewis-North. The HUAA is the only area on JBLM were hobbyists can fly a UAV. The HUAA is available seven days a week during daylight hours. There are NO other areas authorized for Hobbyist UAV operations on the Joint Base. The following rules apply when flying UAS in the HUAA on JBLM: Fly at or below surrounding obstacles or the highest tree. Maintain visual line of sight with the aircraft at all times. Do not interfere with manned aircraft operations. Don t fly closer than 50 feet to people, vehicles or buildings. Don t fly an aircraft that weighs 55 pounds or more. Maintain safe operations at all times. You can be fined for endangering people or other aircraft. Notify JBLM police immediately if the aircraft leaves the HUAA or causes any damage to property or injures any person. Visit for information on operating a UAV and where to fly off the base. Download the FAA's mobile safety app, B4UFLY, which provides real-time information about airspace restrictions and other flying requirements based on your GPS location.

17 Flying for the Holidays? Leave the driving to the professionals for the holidays! 1) Leave the car at home. 2) Take GO Transit Route 2 out to the 512 Park-and- Ride. OR Take Pierce Transit 206 or an Uber/Lyft to Lakewood Towne Center. 3) From either location take Sound Transit 574 to SeaTac Airport. Arrive at the airport in minutes from the 512 Parkand-Ride or Lakewood Towne Center!
18 18 GREEN YOUR HOLIDAYS Use alternatives to wrapping paper: Comics or a newspaper with a bright ribbon. Reusable bags are not just for groceries, make it part of the gift! Maps make a great statement. For that extra detail, use a map with a personally significant location highlighted. Use a scarf or fabric remnant Place in a holiday tin. This not only saves paper, it s incredibly easy! Gifts can be green too! Buy someone an experience as a gift: tickets to a play, donations to their favorite charity all make great presents. Offer your talents as a gift: babysitting services, photography sessions, kitchen cleaning or tax preparation are all good examples. Make one of your resolutions a sustainable one: reduce food waste, turn down your thermostat when you leave the house, use public transportation more. These aren t just green, they ll save you money!
