5-DAY SMALL UNIT TACTICS RECONNAISSANCE AND SURVEILLANCE COURSE Forest Grove, Oregon Host - Spartan Training Concepts Conducted By TÝR GROUP LLC Spartan Training Concepts of Hillsboro, OR will be hosting TYR Group's Small Unit Tactics: Rural Reconnaissance and Surveillance Course near Forest Grove, Oregon which is closest city with lodging and amenities. This Course is a tactics course, not a shooting course. The dates are from May 18-22, 2016 and will be conducted at Camp R & R in the community of Gales Creek, Oregon. This course is open to US Citizens or Legal Residents only, legally capable of owning a firearm. The total cost of the course is $
The 5-Day Small Unit Tactics- Rural Reconnaissance and Surveillance Course is designed to teach individuals basic patrolling and Reconnaissance and Surveillance techniques that begin at the individual level and progresses to conducting a reconnaissance and surveillance mission as a member of a team. Students who complete the course will be presented with a certificate of completion. (This class is a 50+ hour week course.) Class curriculum covers subjects such as: Principles of Patrolling Mission Planning and Preparation Duties, Responsibilities, and Actions within a Patrol Hand and Arm Signals Movement Formations Movement Techniques Crossing Danger Areas Immediate Action Drills Designation and Occupation of Rally Points Leaders Reconnaissance Link Up Procedures Mission Support Site Occupation and Activities Area Reconnaissance Zone Reconnaissance Fixed Observation and Surveillance Sites 2
Required Packing List: This is a basic list. Remember you will be out in a field environment for the full 5 days. Serviceable uniform Serviceable boots (must be broken in and have a good tread) Binoculars or other optic GPS or Lensatic Compass Knife Watch Flash light with colored lenses Ghillie Type Top (Bottoms Optional) Load Bearing Equipment Individual Rifle (NO AMMUNITION) Assault Pack with a 3 liter Hydration System Poncho 30 feet of 550 cord Pencil Paper Pruning Sheers Gloves Camouflage stick, compact or cream Seasonally appropriate hat, underwear, and outerwear Good quality insect repellant with Deet (spring, summer, and fall) Folding Chair (optional) Seasonally appropriate equipment to remain overnight in field conditions. **Enough Food for the Entire Time in the Field. 3
Water will be available at base camp to fill your containers. Your instructor is JOHN HURTH, US Army Special Forces (Ret), and author of the "Combat Tracking Guide" published by Stackpole Books. Note: All of our courses are taught completely outdoors. We do not lecture or use power point presentations to conduct our classes. Students will be immersed in the operational environment from beginning to end. With that said all who attend must be in good physical condition and able to walk every day 4-8 miles over rugged terrain. We will operate out of a camp and you will have access to your vehicles. Your assault pack should be large enough to carry water, food and other clothing and equipment that you will need for the days training. Camelback style hydration system or Nalgene type bottles that can be attached to your gear for easy access is acceptable. The ghillie top can be handmade or bought. I personally use a Viper hood produced from Tactical Concealment but handmade or store bought are both ok. Some examples are shown below. 4
If you have any questions concerning the class please us at Note from John: We have received a few questions asking how physically strenuous our classes are: Since TÝR Group began our classes in 2010, we have had male and female students attend who were as young as 16 and as old as 67 years of age. The level of difficulty may depend on terrain and weather. We set up a base camp that we start from and return to every day. The amount of weight you carry each day depends on what YOU need to sustain yourself during the days training, such as food, water, extra clothing, or other survival items. Your camping equipment is whatever you are comfortable with. I don't make it a requirement that students remain in the camp overnight. We try to keep the cost down for our customers. Our students do have the option to stay at a hotel, however it is their responsibility to make it to training on time, with the proper equipment and ready to train. If you have any questions concerning our classes please contact us at: info@tyrgroupllc.com. Always the Hunter, Never the Hunted! John 5
