1 School of Exploration & Mining Mining Exploration & Natural Resources Field Assistant Job Ready Training for the 2015 field season in Natural Resources, LNG Linear Development, and Mineral Exploration Program Overview This 120 hour program is composed of two modules: 1. Natural Resources Field Skills 2. Mineral Exploration Field Skills Along with industry required safety certificates imbedded in each module, this program prepares students for entry-level fieldwork in a variety of natural resource industries with a focus on activities in mining, exploration, natural resources, and environmental monitoring. Students will learn essential field skills for working as a field assistant with hands on applied examples to develop skills to be safe and versatile field assistants. Potential industries for employment include construction, exploration and mining, oil and gas, pipeline development, forestry, agriculture, government agencies, and environmental monitoring. 2 Opportunity for Training Sponsorship TransCanada s Coastal GasLink Pipeline Project is providing sponsorship for up to 20 participants in the Mining Exploration & Natural Resources Field Assistant Program. Hiring and training local people is a priority for Coastal GasLink in order for local peoples to be job ready for the potential 2015 field work programs. Who should apply This program is an intensive field program that requires physical fitness and the ability to work long hours outside. Candidates must be ready to hike up to 10km per day over rugged terrain in all weather. Candidates must be prepared to be punctual and must be drug and alcohol free for the duration of training. These are also conditions of an employment setting, and candidates must understand that this training program is meant to prepare candidates for the work environment.
