Each area covered includes a review of pediatric anatomy and physiology, a thorough discussion of appropriate history taking, examination techniques, and various ways to apply the concepts learned. This class is valuable for inpatient, outpatient, and homecare nurses who care for children with all types of conditions. (The Pediatric Assessment Enrichment Series replaces the previous Spotlight Series. This new series has significant changes including new content and learning methods.) 23 Outreach Education Pediatricks 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nationwide Children s Hospital Columbus, OH Dates March 8, 2011 June 14, 2011 September 13, 2011 December 13, 2011 Course Objectives This course is designed to increase the health care providers knowledge in the management of the pediatric patient. Describe the signs/symptoms and initial management of pediatric respiratory distress. Discuss the signs/symptoms and initial management of hypovolemic shock. Describe the resuscitation priorities including correct drug and defibrillation dosages. Describe the initial assessment and resuscitation of children sustaining multiple injuries and/or burns. Describe the appropriate actions and initial management strategies based on your knowledge and expertise. 24 Information Registration Information Letters and maps will be sent to all participants registered by the conference deadline. Please make checks payable to Nationwide Children s Hospital unless otherwise noted. Purchase Orders Individuals utilizing a purchase order must include an original copy of the order with a signature, number, and billing address in order to be registered. The issuance of a purchase order to secure a registration slot is an obligation for payment whether the participant attends or is absent from the conference. Cancellation Policy Refunds minus 30 percent for administrative costs will be given for cancellations received in writing seven (7) days prior to the conference unless otherwise specified in the conference listing. After that date, no refund will be possible. Nationwide Children s Hospital reserves the right to cancel any program listed based upon enrollment or other contributing factors. Individuals who have enrolled will be notified at least one week in advance of a cancellation. Full tuition will be refunded or can be applied to another program should a program be cancelled. Nursing Certificate Replacement Replacement certificates will be issued for a fee of $10 per certificate. The request must be in writing with the fee accompanying it. A request for a replacement certificate may also be made verbally if the person making the request picks up the certificate and pays the fee.
