2 Claiming Your Continuing Education Credits Claiming Continuing Education Contact Hours: The ACNM s education program is thoroughly vetted through a blind review system for adherence to evidence-based research and relevance to midwifery practice. Attendees of the 63 d Annual are able to earn a maximum of 22 contact hours and 9.6 pharmacology hours on site. An additional 30 hours can be earned up to two years later by listening to selected presentations in our Online Learning Center. The recorded sessions are marked with a in the program book. To receive CE credit for the meeting, attendees must complete the required evaluations for sessions attended. Evaluations may be filled our immediately after the session ends and are available for up to two years after the conference. 8 Convention Center & Hotel Information Parking Emergencies & First Aid If you encounter a medical or other emergency in the Convention Center, please alert any center staff in the area or tap the EMERGENCY button on any courtesy phone (near public restrooms), briefly describe the emergency, and then stand by to guide center personnel. Please do not call 911. If someone requires first aid, please alert security. Security will ensure that the situation receives the proper care and response. Savannah is known as one of America s most walkable cities, and attendees who plan to travel by vehicle to the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center have the convenience of ample onsite parking within close proximity to the facility s main entrances. Current parking fees are $5.00 per car per day; $10.00 per RV per day. If you plan to collect data from ACNM members for research or any other use, please review the policy. Data collection activities that have not been approved in advance by the DOR are not permitted. Midwives of Color Committee The ACNM Midwives of Color Committee (MOCC) provides support to ACNM s efforts to recruit, retain, and support the advancement of persons of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds in the profession of midwifery. The MOCC provides educational preparation to ACNM members to facilitate respect for cultural variations, and it promotes and supports the profession of midwifery in reducing inequities and disparities in maternal child health. The MOCC encourages you to stop by our area of the ACNM Member Resource Center where you will be able to obtain information on the MOCC mentoring program, donate to the MOCC scholarships that provide financial support to midwifery students of color, and much, much more. Midwifery Practice, Education & Global Outreach Please visit us at the Midwifery Practice, Education and Global Outreach (MPEGO) area of the ACNM Member Resource Center! The MPEGO area will have information and handouts related to midwifery practice and special areas of clinical focus such as patient safety, physiologic birth, immunizations in pregnancy, and prevention of the flu. You can learn more about our global projects in Africa, and ways to engage as a volunteer in the new ACNM divisions and committees. We will also showcase benefits to your practice from our domestic projects, including the Alliance for Innovation in Maternal Health, the Healthy Birth Initiative, and the Reducing Primary Cesarean collaboration. The newly updated Pearls of Midwifery and Evidence Based Practice documents will be available. Advocacy Sometimes the hardest part of engaging in advocacy is figuring out where to start. ACNM s government affairs and advocacy team can help! Our team of midwife policy experts will arm you with the tools you need to pursue your mission. Stop by the advocacy booth in the ACNM Member Resource Center to learn more about how to: get involved with advocacy at the state and federal level; engage stakeholders and policymakers; and promote, protect and advance the practice of midwifery in the United States. Midwives Political Action Committee The ACNM Midwives Political Action Committee (PAC) raises money to donate to federal campaigns in support of ACNM s legislative agenda and advocacy efforts. At the Midwives-PAC area of the ACNM Member Resource Center, you can learn more about our role in ACNM s advocacy strategy and find out about ways to get involved in our work.
