2 Manager Update I am pleased to launch Robinson House s first Newsletter. We are starting 2016 with the first edition and four more will follow during the year throughout each season has been a successful year for the home. Our CQC inspection was rated as Good. We continue to strengthen our staff team and we are now at full capacity across all departments. There should be very little agency staff used in This will be due to the great commitment from our existing staff complimented with new team members. We have increased the nursing team and welcome Kinga Kubica, Jacob George and Joman Jose. Carol Harewood accepted the role of Clinical Lead at the home for a year. This comes to an end in April. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Carol for all her support and invaluable help during this time. We have been successful in recruiting Amanda Hendy who will become the home s Deputy Manager. Amanda Hendy joins us on February 1 st and we look forward to welcoming her and wishing her much success. Amanda is currently a Tissue Viability nurse with management experience based at Southmead Hospital. Carol will continue in the role of Gold Standards Framework Coordinator for Robinson House. Carol will lead the staff to ensure a Gold standard of End of Life care is achieved for all who live here. We hope to be accredited in July by the GSF team with a Beacon status award. We are negotiating to continue with our two Dementia Flexi emergency bed contract. These beds are contracted by the Bristol CCG and used to help families in crisis and to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions. We also will continue with our contacted Palliative Care bed during We would like to continue with our Dementia Support group. The next one will be held on 28 th January at 6.30pm here in our Training room. This is an opportunity for families and friends to meet and catch up. We will have a Speaker who will discuss a topic relating to various aspects of dementia. You are all very welcome to attend. I would like to wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year. 3 Carole s Corner Hairdressing Salon Makeover Carol is the Cook Supervisor at Robinson House and this is her recipe of the month:- Teabread 10oz Mixed Sultanas and Raisins 7oz Soft Dark Sugar ½ pint Cold strong tea Soak this overnight in a large basin 2. Stir in 10oz Wholemeal Self Raising Flour along with 1 egg. 3. Place in a line loaf tin 4. Cook at Gas mark 4 for 1hr Serve sliced with butter Every Monday Hairdresser Every Wednesday Gardening Support Group Every Friday Exercise Hour with Daniella Sally, our hairdresser at Robinson House has spent a long time making the best of a tired and cold salon. She has offered the people living here the best experience possible under these circumstances. In the Autumn Nikki our Administrator and Becki the Activity Facilitator along with the Handymen revamped the salon and enriched the experience into a bright and welcoming room. Sally offers a variety of treatments and is very much appreciated as part of the team.

4 Hen House There are new residents at Robinson House and productivity is good. We had the request from people living at the home and their families to purchase a hen coup and run. Alan and Giuseppe our handy men gathered equipment and duly obliged. We were then donated six hens by Giuseppe and we were off and running. The kitchen benefits from the eggs and uses them for making cakes on a daily basis. You could say that we re all experiencing part of the good life along with the vegetables that are also growing in our vegetable patch. BABIES Productivity is all around and continues within our staff team! Babies recently born and babies on the way! We welcome to the world of Robinson House staff Ria Maxwell s Kiana, Zoe Hallett s Nancy, Sophie Cliff s Amaya and Jenny Radford s Myla. Still awaiting baby arrivals are Leanne Kingscott, Grace Short, Adrean Hill and Jodie Harvey. Jack Mason is also a Dad in waiting. People living at Robinson House are loving watching these little ones grow up when they come to visit.

5 Staff Profile Kinga Kubica RGN Kinga joined the team at Robinson House firstly as a Care Leader whilst awaiting her UK PIN number. Kinga says:- I was born in Poland but now live in Bristol, I studied nursing at Akademia Techniczno Humanistyczna in Bielsko Biala Poland, however my mum encouraged me to leave Poland as the salaries were not great there. So I decided to move to the UK on my own in January 2015 and I have been working at Robinson House for nearly 1 year.

6 Remembrance Tree As part of the Gold Standard Framework initiative at Robinson House we celebrate Remembrance - especially over the Festive period. Our Christmas tree this year was adorned by decorations written with personal messages and memory for loved ones who have passed away. The beautiful labels are hand made by a former member of Brunelcare staff, Stella Long. We much appreciate her contribution. The Remembrance Tree helps to bring comfort to staff and families through their bereavement. What s on?
