If you don't know when yours is, then we need to find out! Oh the weather outside is frightful, But the fire is so delightful, And since we've no place to go, Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! It doesn't show signs of stopping, And I've bought some corn for popping, The lights are turned way down low, Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! When we finally kiss goodnight, How I'll hate going out in the storm! But if you'll really hold me tight, All the way home I'll be warm. The fire is slowly dying, And, my dear, we're still good-bying, But as long as you love me so, Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! WHATS INSIDE!!! Employee Page Who has a birthday coming up??? Who is the Employee of the Month??? Activities!!! Find out what is going on for activities! Check out our monthly calendar :)
2 Twilight Talk Page 2 Administrator's Corner Help us Can the Van on December 13th This year Twilight Home will be doing a food drive to benefit the Food Pantry of Navarro County. Our goal is to completely fill our van with nonperishable food items and have them distributed to needy families during this holiday season. We will be set-up outside Twilight Home on Thursday, December 31th with refreshments and prizes for all who give. Feel free to bring your items any time before this date and leave them in the Business Office. All donated items will be greatly appreciated. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Jordan Golden, Administrator Welcome to another Holiday Season! The weather is changing so don t forget to bring your loved ones their winter clothes and take the summer ones home. The staff here at Twilight Home try to make sure that this is a festive time of year, so everyone come visit if you can and spread some holiday cheer. We have nursing students at this time of year and they are great. They are learning to care for the elderly and to be advocates for those in their care. We should all give them a round of applause as they will be the ones that are here to care for us in our later years. The staff here at Twilight work hard to keep a homelike environment, after all this is home for all those who live here. I am going to keep this one short and sweet- so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Cristi Schmidt, DON Nursing Environmental Services Just a friendly reminder to our residents and family members.. Please have clothes marked before they leave your room. Our laundry ladies do a good job but if your clothes are not marked they do not always know who they belong to. Also, we will be glad to mark anything for you just let the laundry know. Just a reminder you may bring any battery operated holiday items if you wish, but can not be electrical and no extension cords. Thank you for your cooperation. Have a safe and happy holiday. Russell Carty, Environmental Supervisor

5 TWILIGHT TALK Page 5 TALKIN ABOUT ACTIVITIES... EVENTS Birthday Party 19th Christmas Party 20th Thanksgiving Dinner was a wonderful success this year. I want to say thank you to all the staff and volunteers that helped out. We all had a great time seeing all our family and friends that joined us for dinner. What a fun way to kick off the holidays. From the Activity Director Well December is here! WOW! Where has 2017 gone? We will have our Christmas party at 11:30am December 20th. This time of year is so busy with all the hustle and bustle of shopping, cooking, traveling, and making plans. I just want to remind you to take a break when you feel stressed. Take a short walk or just go sit on a bench for a few minutes. Take a moment to close your eyes and remember the reason for the season. Think of days gone by and remind yourself of the true happiness this time of year brings. Take time to love yourself while you are spreading all that holiday cheer and have a FANTASTIC HOLIDAY SEASON. With Love, Chasity
6 Page 6 Butter Pecan Shortbread Cookies RECIPE OF THE MONTH Shortbread cookies are a must to make for the holidays, and these pecan-filled, buttery biscuits are simply irresistible. Be sure to use real butter, never margarine, for best flavor. Ingredients 1 cup unsalted butter 1/2 cup light brown sugar 2 cups flour 1 cup ground pecans 2 tsp. vanilla pinch of salt Cooking Instructions 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (160 degrees C). Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. 2. In a large bowl with an electric mixer or a food processor, beat together butter and brown sugar until creamy. Add flour, ground pecans, vanilla and salt and beat just until it forms a smooth dough. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour to allow it to firm up just enough to shape. 3. By hand, roll dough into 1-inch (2-cm) balls. Place them on the prepared cookie sheet and flatten very slightly (to about 1/2-inch/1-cm thickness) with the bottom of a glass that has been dipped in flour to prevent the dough from sticking to the glass. (If you have a cookie stamp, you can use it to flatten the cookies instead of the glass.) Place in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until set and very lightly browned on the bottom. Remove from pan and let cool on a rack. Servings: About 2-1/2 to 3 dozen almost authentic shortbread cookies. How kids can help Roll the dough into balls and flatten them on the cookie sheet. Decorate, if desired, with icing or sprinkles. Total Fat: 29g ENJOY
