Please continue to bring in any and all cell phones that you have sitting around and drop them off at the NBCC business office. We'll take damaged and outdated phones too! All phones are processed through a zero landfill, environmentally responsible recycling process. Old information is wiped from these phones through a flashing process regardless of whether or not you've done this yourself. Collection to benefit the Irondale Boy's Soccer Program.

The purpose of this service is to provide an easy and time saving way, for family and friends of residents at either of our care campus locations to send messages. Staying connected has never been easier. Please try it out and pass the information onto others! How it works Visit our website: On the lower right corner of the page there is a button for Resident . Once you click that button it will take you to the Resident page. Follow the directions on the page. You can now also send photos that will be attached to your message that is delivered to the resident. Directions on how to send photos will be available once you send a message. New Business: Read from July s Calendar of programs. Administration: No concerns. Business Office: No concerns. Nursing: Residents are encouraged to speak directly to the DON/ADON when they have concerns or issues throughout the month. All other concerns at the meeting is directed to the DON. Dietary: Dietary Manager Lee L. spoke to residents about the meal times and options for assigned seating or to having 2 seating for meals times. A vote was taken to have assigned seating instead to avoid confusion to who sits where and when. Residents also voted to keep the current clothing protectors instead of switching to linen napkins. They would like more salads and fruit plates for meals. Meal of the Month: 4 TH of July Dinner. Social Service: No Concerns. Housekeeping/Laundry: No concerns. Maintenance: No concerns. Therapy: No concerns. Beauty Shop: *Note: Please see new rates for beauty shop services. Activity Dept. The activity staff went over the July s events, activities and programs. 5 August 2010 From the Desk of the Administrator - Michae l R. Chies I remember as a child towards the end of school summer vacation, my mother singing happy days are here again, the kids are going back to school again. As a kid, I enjoyed the three months off for summer vacation, I guess in remembering that song, the summer was just a little bit too long for my Mom. Our lives are about memories and the people we impact when we are here. There is little you can do about the past, but learn from it. Some people may not know that I have been the Administrator of this Facility since Time passes by quickly as I am sure everyone knows. During the years here, I have hired many different employees and developed many friendships that have lasted for years. It has always been important to me to only hire the best and the brightest. The Director of Nursing position is one of the most important positions in the facility and I have had a number of Directors of Nursing throughout these years. Our current Director of Nursing, Jean Kittlelson, RN has been in her current position since 2005 and has been continuously employed here in various positions since Jean was also here prior to 1994 as a Nursing Assistant. Jean has an excellent background at the facility and is an absolute wonderful and effective Director of Nursing. During the month of July we were honored to provide services to one of my past Directors of Nursing. Arella Sarette, (Lolly) was that Director of Nursing at the New Brighton Care Center for many years. In fact Lolly was our current Director of Nursing s mentor. I mention this because when it came to a time that Lolly needed Skilled Nursing Care, she made the decision to come to a place she knew well, the New Brighton Care Center. While many staff did not know Lolly, many others did and were honored to provide services to her in her time of need. Lolly was a leader and brought many positive aspects to who we are today. Lolly was a friend and a person who I have great respect for. I appreciated Lolly as my Director of Nursing and was myself honored to have Lolly spend her last few days here. Lolly was an inspiration to many of our employee s, both past and current. She cared about the residents, her staff, and the facility. She made a positive difference here and I have always admired the job she did as our Director of Nursing. Lolly passed away and we that knew her well, will miss her. Goodbye Lolly and thank you for all your contributions to the New Brighton Care Center When was the last time you told someone close to you just how important they are in your life? Many people strive to gain as much money and objects as they can accumulate. But at the end of the day what is it that really matters? Family and friends should be on the top of the list. Sometimes we forget to tell those around us just how much we appreciate them. We may not mean to do it, but we all get busy and sometimes we lose our focus on what should be really important. You can say it with words, but actions speak louder. It is a reminder of just how quickly things can change and things that you hold dear to you today may be gone tomorrow. How does this relate to what we do here? It is a reminder that we need to have a heart and an understanding of the importance of what we do each day. It is important that we pay attention to the little things that can make a positive difference in the people we provide services to. Our residents are here because they need some type of help or assistance and the importance of what we do EACH DAY cannot be understated. I am very proud of our staff here at the Facility.
