2 The 17th Annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Wound Care Surgical Wounds, Burns and Infections Message from the Co-Chairs Dear Colleague: On behalf of the organizing committee, we invite you to attend the 17th annual conference of the Canadian Association of Wound Care (CAWC). This year s theme, Surgical Wounds, Burns, and Infections, addresses the wound care topic everyone is talking about. We have invited a multidisciplinary team of speakers who are leaders in research and clinical development. They will provide you with practical, current information, which you can take back to your practice to implement change. The conference is designed to flow through four major streams. You may choose to attend all of the sessions in one stream, or move between streams to refresh or further your knowledge base. The four streams are: Basic Clinical for the beginning clinician, to lay the groundwork for the fundamentals of wound care. Advanced Clinical challenging wounds that are encountered in everyday practice. Public Policy & Education Programs wound care as an emerging healthcare specialty. Research leading research presented by wound care experts from around the world. We continue to partner with the Canadian wound care industry to present an exciting pre-conference Satellite Symposia day, Power Breakfasts, Learning Lunches, and Product Theatres. This year s exhibit hall will be the largest wound care trade gathering in Canada, and will offer unparalleled product education opportunities and the opportunity to see the latest products and services. All the necessary information required to submit an abstract is available at the CAWC website at Abstracts must be prepared according to the specifications outlined there, and submitted electronically.
