The students were from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. The students were shown around the news studios, master control/oc, Satellite Control, and the radio studio. Students were given an opportunity to meet and ask questions with KOMO TV anchor Eric Johnson and KOMO TV Anchor Mary am. The tour ended with a live viewing of the 4PM news. On ovember 23, 2, KOMO Executive Assistant, Stephanie Rogerson gave a tour of the KOMO TV station and the KPLZ (STAR.5) music radio station to WSU Ladies Broadcasting Club. The students were from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. The students were shown around the news studios, master control/oc, Satellite Control, and the radio studio. Students were given an opportunity to meet and ask questions with KOMO TV reporter Mary am. As well as Promotions Manager Will Harris about resume, cover letter building and internship opportunities. This one-day career fair gave high school students the opportunity to be exposed to career path and local companies. Some of the students are the first in their family to graduate from High School and a majority of them will be the first in their family to attend college. Most have not been exposed to an event like this where they are networking and meeting professionals. This career fair gave graduating high school seniors career paths and industries to consider for future career opportunities. Idaho Job & Career Fair bringing local and national companies together with persons seeking employment and/or a career change in a one-day conference. Event March 7, 27 Boise s Riverside Hotel; KBOI represented Sinclair Broadcast Group and presented all current position openings for the U.S. western region (California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and evada). On Thursday, March 23, 27, Kevin Olivas along with Jeffrey Lenk participated in USC Annenberg Career Fair located at USC Ronald Tutor Campus Center Ballroom, representing Sinclair West Coast region. They met potential candidates and reviewed resumes and tapes for current and future job openings across the West Coast stations (WA, OR, ID, V and CA). RECRUITMET IITIATIVES 6 7 Date 4/27/27 6/23/27 Type of Recruitment Initiative (Menu Selection) Participation in Job Fairs Participation in other activities designed by the station employment unit Brief Description Of Activity Amber and Will represented all West Coast stations for Sinclair Broadcast Group at the 2nd annual University of Washington 27 Marketing, Media & Communications Fair in Seattle, WA. This one-day career fair brought local and national companies with careers in Broadcasting, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Publishing, Radio/TV / Film, or Social Media together with students and alumni seeking employment and/or a career change. All locations and current position openings were discussed with interested candidates. Devin Otto - KOMO Job Shadow - Devin started his job shadow with the 9:3am editorial meeting with morning KOMO ews team, then be assigned a field crew to shadow for the entire day. Field crew would include a General Assignment Reporter and a Photographer. RECRUITMET IITIATIVES 8 Date 7/2/27 Type of Recruitment Initiative (Menu Selection) Participation in other activities designed by the station employment unit Brief Description Of Activity On July 2, 27 KOMO hosted students and one professor from Central Washington University. During the visit the students spent 9 minutes with leadership from both TV and Radio divisions to learn more about the broadcast industry, where it is going and the exciting career opportunities it offers. Speakers included Janene Drafs who spoke about Sinclair s vision of connecting people with content everywhere and how she started her career as a local sales assistant and has worked her way to the role of general manager. Gary Greenberg spoke to the students about radio, the challenges it has faced but how it still remains a medium that people turn to for local news. Tyler Henebry and Jon Aqui both spoke about how data is collected and analyzed to educate clients on the reach broadcast has to consumers. Scott Altus and Will Harris spoke about promoting the station through sponsored events and marketing campaigns. Will Harris and Susan Taylor spoke about the internship and entry level positions available in both TV and Radio and encouraged students to apply or inquire further. The presentations were interactive and allowed for students to ask questions and gain more insight into the world of broadcast.
