Our last big venture for the year is the exhibition at Shorethyme, opening on 10th July at 6:00pm. We look forward to seeing many of you there, and, if you cannot make it on the night, to seeing wonderful artworks of yours on display. The Gallery is looking quite spiffy, if I do say so, after the Changeover last week, and a mini reorganisation. Drop in to see all the magnificent works of art and craft, if you have not already done so. This display could only be made possible with your willingness to provide amazing creations for us to display so I say a great big thank you to all the members who provided work, and a huge round of applause to the Hanging Committee and the Applied Arts presenters for a splendid job. I must now thank all the Committee members for the all the extra work that they have put in over this year to help keep the Society running, and thank the associate members who work tirelessly to keep the Gallery open. I also must thank the members who religiously do their duty for being the backbone of the Society. Putting my bad cop hat on, I must ask all the members who have not done any duty, unless you are of the magic age or you have explained your situation, why did you become a member of this Society when you knew what would be expected of you? Expect a personal phone call from me in the near future! Members have been recorded when they do duty, so it will be easy for me to find those who need to be called. I will finish on a happier note by thanking all the members who attended this month s General Meeting for a very positive and happy meeting, especially those who provided amazing artworks in the Black and White Challenge, in particular Jenny Richardson with her negative spaced magpie, and Judy Rodgers with her sketch of Ned Kelly s armour. Henry Ward Beecher once said, Every artist dips his brush in his/her own soul, and paints his/her own nature into his/her pictures. Keep dipping, everyone! Anne. Thank you to all the members who brought lovely nibbles to share. Next meeting on 6 th August at 10am will Annual General Meeting and Presentation by Belinda Biggs to be confirmed There will be Shorethyme exhibition of TADAS members work 10 th to 21 st July. Delivery Sunday 8 th July 10am. Theme Landscape, Flora and Fauna on the Land. Roster- New roster has been running for one month and most bugs have now been ironed out. All members who have been using on line roster were rewarded with a choc frog- hopefully helps with the bugs!!!request to be respectful of the roster system and only enter your name in an empty slot. There has been an incident of someone removing someones name to insert theirs. Workshops. Request from our new acting Workshop Co-ordinator Robyn Mc Intyre for assistance in identifying possible teachers for the next years workshops. Suggestions very welcome via . 3 Committee Nomination forms for next year are available at the office. Completed forms need to be back to the secretary by 24th July The current committee would like to invite as many who are interested to consider joining the committee and offers of being deputy or assistant to positions are also very welcome. A folder is available at the gallery with the job descriptions to help members decide which job you would like to undertake for the Society. Committee Nominations for one year from Annual General Meeting of the Toukley and Districts Art Society Inc. on Monday 6 th August 2018 at 10am Nominations for the positions of 1. President- Executive position, Chair of 355 Committee. Lead the Committee and Society ensuring Constitution adherence, preside over all meetings of the Society and ensure equity, balance,fair decisions and responsible funds use. 2. Vice President - Executive position, 355 Committee and fulfil role of President in their absence. Portfolio duties as required 3. Secretary and Public Officer- Executive position,355 Committee, provide administration and clerical support to President and Society, administer meeting minutes, correspondence, AGM, Fair trading and ANCN requirements 4. Treasurer- Executive position, 355 Committee, oversee all financial management of Society adhering to Constitution, prepare reports. 5. Art Director- Manage exhibitions, lead hanging committee, Guest Artists, Guest Presenters, Induction of new members, Peoples Choice and be responsible for overall presentation of the gallery in consult with Committee. Prepare Annual timetable of events 6. Deputy Art Director- Support and assist the Art Director 7. Applied Arts Director Manage, develop and implement the Applied Arts and Souvenirs sections of the gallery 8. Porcelain Director Manage, develop and implement Porcelain section of Gallery 9. Hostess, Kitchen and Catering- Run the Gallery coffee shop as part of duty team including supervision, induction, OHS, ordering, cleanliness, stocktake and liaison with Council. Host General meetings, Exhibition openings and changeover days 10. Membership and Roster Manage new membership applications and present to Committee & Society, Assist with Induction, order badges, Keep Register, maintain and communicate membership list, Supervise Roster ensuring sufficient qualified persons on duty at all times. 11. Workshops Organise and implement workshops, in consultation with Committee and Membership, developing an annual budget and timetable, logistics, publicity, flyers, sourcing presenters, bookings and payments. 12. Newsletter- Prepare monthly Newsletter sourcing relevant accurate information from Committee, membership and affiliated organisations and community. Ensure timely distribution to members and affiliates. 13. Website Manage the website ensuring it remains up to date including all events and activities of the Society 14. Publicity- Organise, co-ordinate, manage, budget for and seek opportunities to promote the Society events in a wide range of medium including radio, local magazines, newspapers, social media, flyers, . Instructions for accessing Roster are attached Any member can either , phone in or visit the gallery to add their name to the Roster and the office duty person will either enter this for you or provide coaching on use of the on line system. Thank you to Chris Robertson who has developed this system- a great job, well done th Annual membership fee of $25 can now be paid and is due by 1 July and no later than the AGM 0n 6 August 2018 there is a list in the roster book, please ensure this is marked off by the members on duty if paying in the office.methods of payment Cash, eftpos or cheque in the gallery office Internet transfer. This was to improve accessibility of stationery supplies and (TADAS historical) photo albums. 5 Dear Member, The Applied Arts Section has come a long way since its inception and has evolved and grown in leaps and bounds, and with growth comes the need to update the guidelines, which the Committee have worked hard at. Below are the updated Conditions and Criteria. Rasheeda Flight. Definition of Applied Arts: Application of design and decoration to objects that are functional and created to achieve a purpose. Criteria and Conditions of entry: 1. To enter applied art you must also have hanging art entered. 2. Items that have been sold may be replaced and the appropriate replacement sheet filled in.(this applies to Bi Monthly Changeovers and Exhibitions) 3. All items eg craft, souvenirs, cards will come under the Applied Arts Banner. 4. A maximum of 29 items will be allowed in this section, subject to other entries in hanging and unframed art. (Maximum 30 items) 5. Items will need to correspond with the numbers in the left hand column of the entry form. 6. A register of those members who have regularly been entering their Applied Art will be maintained. Should a member, who has not been entering items on a regular basis and wishes to do so, this will be reviewed, so as to curtail an overload and repetition of Applied Arts items. The Art Director with the Applied Arts Director will undertake the review. 7. Light jurying will be undertaken by the Applied Arts Director should an item be deemed unfit to be entered. 8. All possible care will be taken of exhibits but no responsibility will be accepted for loss or damage. 9. Membership requirements include rostered duty 6 hours per month at the gallery, whether exhibiting or not. 10. Below are some of the acceptable Applied Arts Items: - Beading - Candle Making - Ceramics - Communication Arts - eg Cards, souvenirs - Fabric Craft - Jewellery - Leather Craft - Pottery - Sculpture - Wood Carving, Pyrography, Burning 11. Not accepted in the Applied Arts Section: - Clothing and Textiles - Furniture A big thank you to Mary Manser who is updating our Albums of the past events She would like any member who has photos or memorabilia to either send to the Gallery or pop in to the gallery.
