Combined Charities Campaign Combined Charities Campaign is a free program that allows you to give through payroll deduction to the charities you support. This campaign has helped more than 3,000 charities in the bay area for more than 30 years. You can give to a charity you are familiar with or to one of the federation charities that have been prescreened and audited. Workplace giving is an efficient way of contributing because it reduces administrative costs for hundreds of charitable organizations by becoming a member of one of the seven Federations representing them during this campaign. So your donation has a bigger impact!
It is the belief of the San Francisco Foster Youth Fund that no child should be deprived of essential life experiences and enriching activities. The San Francisco Foster Youth Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises money for the education and enrichment of San Francisco foster children. The Fund was started over 30 years ago by Human Service Agency social workers who knew that government funding for foster care only paid for the basics of room and board, and that after experiencing the trauma of maltreatment, foster children were missing out on the normal experiences of childhood. They wanted foster kids to have positive memories of childhood, of going to summer camp with their friends or playing in Little League baseball games. They believed that these normal experiences were an important part of healing, as essential as any therapy or special program. The Foster Youth Fund is run entirely by volunteers. Every penny raised goes directly to foster children. The Fund helps them have enrichment opportunities such as taking music lessons, going on class field trips, or participating in high school graduation activities. In recent years, the State of California has extended foster care to the age of 21, and increasingly the Fund has been helping foster youth with the costs of college. Foster children are at extreme risk for many negative outcomes related to education, including dropping out of school, involvement in the criminal justice system, and poor health outcomes such as early pregnancy. The Fund is intent on broadening the experiences of foster children and enlarging their horizons. It relies on the Combined Charities campaign for the majority of its funding, and small contributions can make a difference in the life of a foster child: For $250, a foster child can attend summer camp; For $500, three foster children can participate in a sports program, take music lessons, or attend their high school prom; For $1,000, a foster youth can receive a grant cover college expenses for one semester. In the Combined Charities catalogue, the San Francisco Foster Youth Fund (L2408) can be found on page 9 in the section called, America s Best Local Charities. The Fund s Board of Directors appreciates the generosity of city staff who support foster children through the Combined Charities and who participate in the Fund s annual softball tournament.
The San Francisco Police Activities League (SFPAL) In 1959, two police officers took out personal loans to start what would become the San Francisco Police Activities League (SFPAL). Those officers initially set out to do something about the growing delinquency rate but quickly SFPAL became so much more. Today, SFPAL builds community by organizing youth sports and healthy activities that develop personal character and fosters positive relationships among police officers, youth, and dedicated volunteers. SFPAL provides hope and opportunities to kids throughout the city of San Francisco by offering free athletic and educational programs kept at a minimal cost to the participants. Dedicated civilian and police coaches, instructors, mentors and former program participants choose to give back to the youth in the community by donating their time, energy and commitment to serve almost 1,000 SFPAL kids annually. Our dedicated Board of Directors, comprised out of active and retired police officers and civilians, works rigorously at creating new programs and opportunities to positively impact more youth in the community to help protect the city s future. We look forward to strengthening our communities for years to come by growing hope for the ones who deserve it the most, our city s youth.
HELPING AMERICA S HEROES America s Best Local Charities The America s Best Local Charities Seal of Excellence is awarded to charitable organizations that meet the highest standards of public accountability, program efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Applicant charities must provide evidence of their program activities and demonstrate the benefit of their services. They must submit for review their most recent IRS tax returns with all schedules. Charities with annual revenues above $250,000 must also submit audited financial statements produced by an independent certified public accountant, including an auditor s opinion letter stating the charity meets the generally accepted accounting standards in the United States. MISSION & SERVICES America's Best Local Charities (ABC) is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit association of the nation's finest charities. Our purpose is to represent charities that meet the highest standards of public accountability and program effectiveness and to facilitate gifts to those charities from contributors in fund drives conducted at work and on the web. Please visit to learn more.
It s more than just coffee A Special Thanks to: For their generous donation of Peets Gift Cards to Combined Charities Campaign San Francisco Municipal Executives Association MEA has served and advanced the interests of San Francisco managers since its inception in In the early 1990s, we were selected by the approximately 1000 managers in dozens of classifications throughout City Government, the Housing Authority, and in the Trial Courts to be the exclusive representative for contract negotiations. Three of the benefits we have secured in bargaining with CCSF are unique to MEA. They are the Cafeteria Plan, employer paid life insurance and the Management Training Fund. More information is available about all of the benefits provided under the MEA contracts on our benefits page. It is a simple fact the more city managers who become MEA members, the stronger MEA is when it comes time to speak out on public policy, represent individual managers, or protect and enhance the hard won wages, benefits and working conditions achieved in bargaining over the years. Your active participation in MEA is critical to our mission. We look forward to welcoming you to MEA! Please consider taking a proactive step that serves to protect your individual interests as well as strengthening the collective voice and influence of managers throughout the City.
Give a minimum one-time donation of $25, or the minimum payroll deduction of $1 per pay period which totals out to be $26 for one year. If donating through payroll deduction, you will receive one drawing ticket for every $26 of your donation; i.e. $520 = 20 drawing tickets. ($520 divided by $26 = 20). First Prize Drawing on October 10, 2017 Drawing are held regularly throughout the Campaign For more information visit
Your Campaign Coordinator is waiting to Help You Your Combined Charities Campaign coordinator can help you start the donation process and help you with any questions you may have about making your donation. Your Coordinator Will: Distribute a campaign brochure and pledge forms to each employee in their Collect completed pledge forms from the employees throughout the campaign Submit pledge forms as are collected Pledge forms and drawing tickets should be reviewed for complete information, including Employee ID numbers, employee signature on pledge forms, and completed information on the back of drawing tickets. All pledge forms and drawing tickets are due before noon, Tuesday, November 8th in order to be eligible for the Final Drawing, and for the final tally of department donations to determine placement for the end of campaign award categories. If you need additional help feel free to contact the Heart of the City Campaign Hotline at (415) or Michelle Clancy. Any payroll deduction forms turned in after November 20th may be delayed in processing and result in pledges not being withdrawn from paychecks beginning in January. Payroll deduction forms can be accepted until December 30, 2017.
