8 The Center for Alternative, Renewable Energy Technology and Training (CARET 2 ) Atlanta U University Center (AUC) Sustainable Campus Community Initiativee (ASCCI). The Center for Alternative, Renewable Energy, Technology and Training (CARET 2 ) at Clark Atlantaa University (CAU) in collaboration with specific research centers and laboratories at the Atlanta University Center (AUC) proposes an AUC Sustainable Campus Community Initiative (ASCCI). The AUC institutionss are Clark Atlanta University, Interdenominational Theologian College, Morehouse College, Morehouse Collegee of Medicine and Spelman College. The Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) will be the backbone of a sustainable initiative with coordinated efforts on promoting a healthy and technologically sound training environment. The focus will be on alternative and renewablee energy, transportation, campus housing, information communication technology (ICT), a healthy and balanced community, technology development, training, jobb creation and community outreach. ASCCI will draw expertise from each HBCU, the community, other institutions of learning and industry. The ASCCI Consortium will seek collaboratio on with the community, government, industry, small businessess and other institutionss of learning. ASCCI will be an extension arm of collaboration for otherr HBCU institutions and an incubator for minority-owned small businesses offering services in green technologies and sustainability. The initiative, spear- headed by CAU, will be multidisciplinary in approach and willl bring together the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), the humanities and business management. This endeavor will create a Virtuall Sustainable Campus Community of Learners (VSCCL).
