To become a candidate you must be at least 18 years of age on nomination day, a Canadian citizen, and you must have been a resident of the local jurisdiction for the 6 consecutive months preceding nomination day. Do you have the time? The demands on your time will be heavy. Don t forget the time you need for your personal life, work, etc. Do you understand the position? As a member of council you will have the opportunity to significantly influence the future of your community. Your power as a member of council depends on your ability to persuade the other members of council to adopt your view. James Oberhofer and Yolanda Garnier Congratulations to Paige Greig for a successful summer in Outdoor Track and Field. She had the honor of not only representing her Community and School but the Split City Sonics Track Club out of Lloydminster as well. With her specialty being Javelin she dominated on a Provincial level throughout the regular season. She is ranked #1 in Alberta and undeniably the Provincial Champion winning both High School Provincials and Youth Outdoor Provincials. Being the only girl in Alberta to make the qualifying standard of metres or over, she earned her spot on Team Alberta moving onto Westerns and Canadian Legion Nationals. Westerns were held in Calgary on July where Paige placed 3 rd overall. From there she moved onto Canadian Legion Nationals hosted by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary BC/Yukon Command held in Langley, B.C. from August th. Being one of the youngest and most inexperienced she had the opportunity to compete against the best that Canada has to offer in a U18 division. At the end of day she threw a personal best of meters placing her 7th overall, not bad for small town Alberta. With the 2013 year behind her she is looking forward to the opportunity to training full time this winter in preparation for next year.228
