This is Lynwood Jfigh School's student boardreporlfor March 14.: Talent show This event was hosted by our LHS dance ensemble and took place on!vjarch 10, 2017 atthe PAC in LHS. It was. great seeing many people come and support our many talented students. University of California Campus Tour LHS Students went on afield trip onmarch 7, 2017 to UCLA to explore the campus and talk to admissions representatives. It was open to all.students and priority was given to seniors that submitted an application to UCLA. Northern CA College Tours Also on March 7, 2017,20 Juniors participated in a tourof3 days to visit 4Northem California Universities. The schools in the tour included:. CSU Channel Islands,.Cal Poly San Lnis Obispo, UC Davis, and. UC Santa Barbara.

2 College and Career Center On Wednesday March 9, 2017, There was a PrincetcmReview Scholarship Presentation by a speaker that came to talk to our. students to inf01m them about strategies for finding and applying to scholarships. QuestBridge Summer Scholars Info Workshops Today, Juniors that demonstrated academic and leadership excellence received information abont the application process for the QnestBridge Summer Scholars.program from 1 DAM to!2pm. Yale Ambassador Program Presentation On March 20th, a cun-ent Yale student from the Yale Ambassador's program will talk to 10 1 " and 1 I th grade students.about the Yale admissions process and obtaining financial aid to attend Yale. Loyola Marvmount Campus Tour On March 21st LHS Students will take a field trip to LMU to explore the campus and talk to admissions representatives. Itwi.ll be open to allstude.nt and priority will be given to seniors that submitted an application to LMU. 3 Marco Antonio Firebaugh High School 5246 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Lynwood, CA ' i LUSD STUDENT BOARD REPORT-March 14, 2017 From: Board of Education Guadalupe Salas, Student Board Representative Good evening Board President Alma Renteria, Board Members, Superintendent Dr. Paul Gothold, District Cabinet Members and Lynwood Community. My name is Guadalupe Salas, Student Board Representative, from Marco Antonio Firebaugh High School, and this is our Board Report for March 14, COLLEGE & CAREER On Friday, March 10th, UCLA reps visited our campus and met with underclassmen to discuss admissions eligibility. On March 16th, Princeton Review will be having a scholarship presentation for Juniors. There is an ongoing collaboration with LA Southwest, and they will be discussing LA's College Promise, where graduating seniors who enrolled at LA Southwest will get I year of tuition for free. Also ongoing are the sessions with seniors and our counselors and college center to discuss pending college items such as award letters, housing, EPT/ELM, and summer bridge options. EVENTS & ACTIVITIES Our Pi Day celebration is this Wednesday, March 15 after school starting at 12:38. The student body will be provided a variety of fun math activities by school clubs. Some of the clubs will also be having food sale fundraisers during this event. The STEM Conference featuring Women Empowerment is this Friday, March 17. Also on Friday, March 17, Class of2020 with the support of ASB will hold a school wide pep rally during lw1ch where only Freshmen will be able to participate in the games. The purpose of this activity is to increase Freshman engagement in school activities and promote unity amongst each other. Senior favorites will have a night of recognition at Oscar Nite on Friday, March 24 in the school's gym starting at 7pm. Student categories such as Worst Case ofsenioritis to Most Likely to Change the World, and staff categories such as Takes Pride & Ownership to Most Dedicated will be announced. SPORTS Our next Varsity home games are: Boys Volleyball: Tuesday, March 21 vs. Cantwell Sacred Heart at 4pm. Softball: Tuesday, March 14 vs Lynwood High Tuesday, March 21 vs. Lynwood High at 3:15pm This concludes the Marco Antonio Firebaugh High School Board report.

4 Ms. Nina Denson, Principal Ut'-l!HED SCHOOL D!STRlCT Vista High School Board of Education, Superintendent and Cabinet From: Shameya Anderson, Student Board Representative Date: March 14, 2017 Re: Board Report Good Evening Board President Ms. Renteria and the Board of Education, Superintendent Mr. Gothold, Members of the Cabinet, and the Lynwood Community, my name is Shameya Anderson, and I am the Student Board Representative and a Member of ASB for Vista High School. Vista is offering before and after school support Monday through Thursday, to ensure that our students complete all assignments required to receive the credits for the quarter and/or Graduation. We are also offering Saturday School to increase our attendance rate. The National College Foundation is continuing to host weekly Monday Fun Days to promote their programs, such as Financial Aide Workshops. These weekly events have helped to increase student attendance. On Wednesday, March 1 5 \ the Junior Class tested for the SAT. Students from the Art Classes attended the LA Conservancy on March 2nd for an exhibit. Students were excited to explore the displays followed by lunch at the renowned Clifton's Cafe. Tuesday, March ih, students attended the Youth Leadership Conference in San Diego. Several motivational speakers gave presentations to promote Higher Education. On Friday March 10 1 h, Vista students attended the Women's Conference hosted at El Camino Compton College. Students were able to visit classroom representing various vocational fields. In recognition of St. Patrick's Day, ASB is asking everyone to wear green for the day. Thursday, March 30 1 h, Students will be planting seeds, containers will be provided, to emulate the seeds Cesar Chavez planted in history Wright Road, Lynwood, CA P I F

5 Ms. Nina Denson, Principal Ut'1lFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT Vista High School In recognition of Women's History Month, ASB will be hosting Trivia Challenges, throughout the month of March. Our next SAC meeting is scheduled for Friday, March 9:00am followed by our ELAC 10:00am. And our next SSC meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 20 1 h. We are asking all parents, guardians and family members to attend and lend support to our councils. This concludes the Vista High School report.
