2 Campus Tours and Events Campus Tours 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., every 30 minutes Meet at White Tour Canopy Bell Memorial Union courtyard Complete walking tour of campus. University Housing Tours 10 a.m. to 1:50 p.m., Meet at Red Tour Canopy in Bell Memorial Union courtyard Guided tours of one double occupancy room in a residence hall on the ground floor of either Shasta Hall or Lassen Hall. Duration: 40 minutes Optional: Shuttle bus tours to University Village (UV). Guided tour of UV suites. The UV tour will be offered from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. (allow approximately 1 hour for this tour). Last bus leaves at 1:30 p.m. from the Legion Ave. bus stop and returns from UV at 2:30 p.m. Optional: Self-guided walking tour to model residence hall room on the ground floor of Whitney Hall. Starting at Bell Memorial Union building, head north and follow the red feathered- flags with white University Housing lettering across campus to the Whitney location. Your questions will be answered during a preview of accommodation options for university honors students. Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC) Tours 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., every 15 minutes Meet at entrance to the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC), corner of W. 2nd and Cherry streets Your opportunity to check out the University s campus recreation center. The WREC opened in 2009 and offers a climbing gym, indoor track, 25-meter swimming pool, four group exercise rooms, and much more. Your one-stop shop for all your recreation and fitness needs. Page 2

This tour will highlight our multiple computer labs, student study rooms, tutoring locations, where and how to get research assistance, and our print and digital collections of books, journals, newspapers, magazines, and more. Learn about opportunities available to team members including travel, networking with students and faculty from across the nation, and working closely with graduate students and faculty at CSUC in preparation for competition. CLIC student directors will be available to answer your questions about CLIC s eleven programs, their internship experience, and how the experience is preparing them for law school and the professional world. 9 Department of Anthropology Tour 11:15 a.m. Meet at Department of Anthropology table This 45-minute guided tour of the Butte 301 Physical Anthropology Teaching Lab will include a discussion of forensic anthropology at CSU, Chico, and will show prospective students the materials and methods we have in forensic anthropology and archaeology. Department of Art and Art History Tour 11 a.m. Meet in front of Ayers Hall, south entrance across from Celestino s Pizza. (See map section F-6 in center of this brochure.) Tour the art department studios and classrooms and view exhibitions by various students and faculty. Department of Biological Sciences Tour 10:30 a.m. Meet at Department of Biological Sciences table Meet with the department chair and others who will assist you in a tour of the Biological Sciences teaching and lab facilities. Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry Tour 11 a.m. Meet at Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry table The Department Chair will present a short PowerPoint presentation followed by short tour of the state-of-the-art instrumentation facilities utilized by chemistry and biochemistry majors for undergraduate research. 10 Department of Child Development Tours 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and Noon (additional by re quest) Meet at Department of Child Development table Students and faculty in child development will lead a walking tour of the Associated Students Child Development Laboratory s infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms as well as the infant and preschool observation rooms, in Modoc Hall and Aymer J. Hamilton, where students majoring in child development observe and participate with children ages up to 5 as part of their coursework. 14 Department of Geological & Environmental Sciences Tour 11 a.m. Meet at Department of Geological & Environmental Sciences table How can you see through a rock? Students will view our rock lab to find out how geologists learn about earth materials. There will also be demonstrations of instruments used to test water quality outside along Big Chico Creek. (weather permitting) or in the lab. Please return at 1pm for an open house of the GEOS department from 1-4pm in the Physical Sciences building. This is a great opportunity to meet students, faculty, and alumni, learn about career opportunities, participate in hands-on activities, eat food and more! Department of Journalism and Public Relations The Orion and Tehama Group Communications Drop-In College of Communication and Education Drop in between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Orion office is in Plumas Hall, Room 002 (downstairs) and The Tehama Group Communications Agency is in Tehama Hall, Room 310 (See map section C-4 in center of this brochure.) Tour our award-winning student newspaper, The Orion, and our student-operated and student-managed public relations agency, Tehama Group Communications. Department of Kinesiology Tours College of Communication and Education 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Meet in lobby of Yolo Hall, southwest end (See map section B-4 in center of this brochure.) Tour will include exercise physiology labs, biomechanics lab, physical education teacher education pedagogy lab, strength and conditioning lab, sport psych counseling room, and Autism Clinic. Page 13

Thinking about becoming an elementary school teacher? Come meet the friendly liberal studies advising staff and students at our information session. A program overview will be shared. 16 Department of Multicultural & Gender Studies Center Open House 10 a.m to Noon Siskiyou Hall, Room 102 (See map section C-5 in center of this brochure.) Come meet students in this department and visit our new student lounge. The lounge is designed to be a great place to study and connect with other students. The Multicultural & Gender Studies (MCGS) department proudly supports all diversity and inclusion events on campus and encourages all students to attend. Got diversity? Want to change the world? Come check out the MCGS office. The academic face of diversity. Department of Music and Theatre Tours 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Meet at White Tour Canopy, Bell Memorial Union Courtyard (2 nd Street side, look for students with signs) Tour for prospective Music and Theatre majors. After introductory remarks, we ll divide into two groups for tours of our facilities. Students interested in programs in general music, music industry, and recording arts will tour the recording studio. Those interested in theatre arts and musical theatre will tour the stages and backstage areas and the costume/scene shops. Want to do both tours? Check out one at 11 a.m. and the other at 1 p.m. Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences Tour 11 a.m. Meet at Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences table The nutrition and food sciences tour will include a viewing of our foods lab and a PowerPoint presentation on the Bachelors of Science with its three options. 17 Department of Physics Tour 11 a.m. Meet at Department of Physics table Faculty members and physics majors (members of the Society of Physics Students) will be on hand to give an overview of our physics programs followed by a short tour of the state-of-the-art Advanced Lab, Optics & Laser Lab, and Introductory Lab, where students not only learn physics but also conduct undergraduate research. Department of Psychology Tours 11 a.m. and Noon Meet at Department of Psychology table This is a tour of the department facilities including the EMG (facial electromyography) Lab. Psi Chi Honors students will lead the tours. Faculty will also be available to greet students and answer any questions. School of Nursing Tours Every 30 minutes, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until Noon Meet at School of Nursing table This tour includes a stop at the School of Nursing office in Trinity, and then moves to the skills and media labs in Holt Hall. You will see the mannequins, monitors, and equipment students use to practice their nursing skills. The tour will include optional mini-advising sessions in Holt 350 and 352 about the campus BSN program. Page 16
18 Museums & Galleries The University Galleries: The Janet Turner Print Museum, Jacki Headley University Art Gallery, and MFA Gallery Noon.to 4 p.m. Arts and Humanities Building, Room (See map Section E-6 in center of this brochure.) The Janet Turner Print Museum is a collection of nearly 4,000 fine art prints, anchored by a gift of the late art professor and artist Janet Turner. The Turner is a visual resource for the campus and community and a site for individual, group and class research. The current exhibition, The Meaning of Life: Visual Analogy is a collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, adding visual layers to the largest of ques tions how we assign meaning to human existence. The Jacki Headley University Art Gallery s current exhibition Body Vulnerable Body Protected showcases a selection of films and videos by internationally recognized artist Nao Bustamante. With an emphasis on parody and the performing body, Bustamante s work challenges the boundaries between feminism, queer theory, and performance in order to undermine gender and ethnic stereotypes. Nao Bustamante is a 2017 Hopper Visiting Artist. The MFA Gallery exhibition features recent work by Masters of Fine Arts Students. Page 17
