1 FREE ISSUE Volume 2 Issue 5 May 2, 2016 *********************************************** An aura of excitement reigned at the Lead Hill Elementary School last Thursday, April 28 th. The library emptied of furniture in preparation for groups of children who would come to sit on the floor and listen to a very special guest read a story to them! Superintendent Hulsey, Principals Vandyke and Richardson, Amy Curtis, librarian, and other visitors waited anxiously for our special guest to arrive. The guest? First Lady Susan Hutchinson was coming to read to the children and was donating 100 books to the school library. The First Lady has a lifetime of experience advocating for and working with children. She hopes to inspire educators to incorporate music into the daily lives of students and complimented the school on the recent grant that provided new instruments for the band program. Ideally she believes every child should have the chance to learn to play a musical instrument for at least one full school year. But what most of us loved to hear was that our school no longer has to depend on a magic number in order to remain in our community. As long as students are learning and we are able to support our schools financially, Lead Hill School is here to stay! Editorial Dr. Shari L. Marshall Teacher Appreciation Week May 2- May 6 Hearing- Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 6 p.m. to consider sewer rate increase.
