1 Lutheran Vanguard of Wisconsin 2013 MACBDA and Music City Tour Wednesday, July 3 The tour begins in Appleton where we load the FVL students, and pick up other schools along the way. First we stop at Morning Star Lutheran Church, in Jackson, Wisconsin to prep for our evening parade in Menomonee Falls, WI. Following the parade, we travel to Shoreland Lutheran HS, Somers, for our evening housing. (150 Miles) Thursday, July 4 Friday, July 5 Saturday, July 6 Sunday, July 7 Monday, July 8 Tuesday, July 9 Happy Birthday, America! We wake up and prepare to head to the northern Chicago suburbs for three parades. We will be performing in the Lake Bluff, IL July 4 th parade at 10:00 AM, Deerfield, IL at Noon, and then head to our final parade at Northbrook, IL beginning at 2:30. Whew! We will be spending some deserved free time at Navy Pier, and then traveling to Illinois Lutheran HS, Crete, IL for our evening housing. (105 Miles) After breakfast and a morning rehearsal, we head to Beautiful Traverse City, MI for the Cherryland Band Classic, to be held in cavernous Thirlby Field for a 6:30 show time. The show will feature LVW, Sound of Sun Prairie, Shadow Armada, and the Lighthouse Brigade! Overnight at our home away from home Trinity Lutheran Church and School. (315 Miles) Saturday morning we march in the Cherry Royale Parade! This is one of our all-time favorite events, with some of the best parade crowds anywhere in the USA. They love us, and we love them! Parade step-off is at 11:30 AM. We then head to Downtown Traverse City and the Cherry Festival grounds for some free time. After supper we travel to Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe, MI for the night. (280 Miles) After morning church at Zion, the band heads to Sandusky, OH and the magnificent Cedar Point Amusement Park! The park is considered one of the best in the world for roller coasters. Buckle up, LVW, for some awesome thrills and unrelenting adrenaline. After a day at the park, we take a few hour drive to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and School in Grove City, OH where we will spend the night. (200 Miles) Music City, here we come! After a night of restful sleep and breakfast, we travel to Nashville, TN. Over the next two days we will be seeing sights in and around Nashville. (370 Miles) LVW will begin the day with morning rehearsal, followed by more sights in Nashville. Wednesday, July 10 We begin the day with breakfast, pack and load, and then return to Illinois Lutheran HS in Crete for an evening rehearsal and the night. (440 Miles) Thursday, July 11 Friday, July 12 Saturday, July 13 Breakfast and morning rehearsal will again begin our day. In the afternoon we travel to Milton, WI for the MACBDA show hosted by the Green Beret. Show time is 7:30 PM. Housing will again be Shoreland Lutheran HS. (215 Miles) Rehearsal and another MACBDA Show Day! After a few hours of rehearsal in the morning and afternoon, we appear in the MACBDA PRELIMS Show hosted by the Racine Lighthouse Brigade, which will begin at 7:00 PM. We return to Shoreland for the night. (20 Miles) We begin our day with breakfast and morning rehearsal for the last time this year. Today, LVW marches in its final show of the 2013 season, the MACBDA Championships at beautiful and historic Perkins Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Championship Show time is 7:30 PM. After post-show hugs and goodbyes, we head for home. Today we travel a total of 215 miles, if your trip ends in Appleton. From Appleton to Traverse City to Nashville and eventually back to Appleton LVW will travel approximately 2300 Miles! Thank God for all of his blessings on our 2013 season!
