Debris (NYC): As of 20 Feb, a total of 671,805 CY of the 1.3M CY assigned to USACE in NY has been removed by long haul. Two Air Curtain incinerators at Floyd Bennett Field have reduced 31,524 CY of woody vegetation. Debris (Fire Island): 1784 Personal Property Debris Removal (PPDR) assessments have been received with 1765 completed. ACI contract awarded for debris removal after three bid protests halted work. Mission Summary: Surged personnel with 2 USACE Command Post Forward staffed with 2 General Officers, COL/LTC to key operational nodes, support from Army Reserve, and Ft Leonard Wood. Conducted 4 unique missions (Temporary emergency power to gas stations, Temporary emergency power to public housing, Un-watering tunnels, Oversight of joint forces pumping/un-watering) not normally conducted by USACE. Temporary Power: 567 assessments completed, 211 generators installed. At peak, USACE generated 55MW of power, enough to support the needs of 55,000 families. Priority of power restoration focused on public-owned facilities responsible for life-saving, lifesustaining, public health, safety, and public administrative facilities. Un-water Mission: USACE controlled 162 pumps, un-watered 14 strategic sites, removed over 475M gallons equivalent to 720 Olympic size pools. The Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, the longest underwater vehicular tunnel in North America, second longest in the world, was the center of gravity of all un-watering operations. The tunnel was flooded with over 70 million gallons of water. National Water Mission: Provided 512 truckloads (9.2M liters) to NY, NJ, PA, & WV. Coastal Restoration: Constructed emergency breach closures at Cupsogue County Park (NY), Smith Point (NJ), Mantoloking Breach (NJ) restoring the cross sections. Housing (Ft Monmouth): USACE refurbished 3 complexes allowing 115 displaced families to move into transitional housing.
