2 SITUATION - Magnitude 9.0 earthquake with epicenter 120 miles west of Eugene, OR consisting of five minutes of shaking & massive tsunami with wave heights ranging from 20 to 80 at landfall. Anticipate multiple magnitude 7.0 or greater aftershocks with the possibility of additional tsunamis General Impacts Total Population: 8,000,000 & Total Area: 100,000 sq miles ~13K Deaths, ~27K Injuries & ~945K w/short term housing needs 1.1M Damaged buildings & 16M tons of debris 72K Residents in tsunami inundation area Impact to NWD & Supporting Districts NWD-P, NWP, and NWS not mission capable w/77%, 79%, & 83% respectively of employees impacted NWW some impact to projects & employees; mission capable NWO & NWK limited impact; fully mission capable Impacts to Critical Utilities I-5 Corridor & West Severe damage to critical infrastructure East of I-5 Corridor Minimal damage NWD MISSION - In response to a catastrophic earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ), impacted NWD commands implement COOP plans, CSZ OPLANS, personnel accountability procedures, and initiate organizational reconstitution in order to account for all USACE personnel, support Federal response and recovery missions, assess, repair and sustain operation of USACE Civil Works infrastructure and shape long-term infrastructure recovery. 2 Unclassified
