1 CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER: ROBERT J. COVENTRY, Jr., CPP, CHS (III), CMI Mr. Robert Coventry has over twenty-five years experience in the protection, security, and investigation field. Mr. Coventry started his career in protection in The United States Army as a Sniper Squad Leader for the 101 st Airborne Division deployed in a protective and training role in Panama, and Honduras. He currently is the Chief Operations Officer of Starside Security & Investigation, Inc. he has held that position since He is licensed in Arizona, Oregon, California and Florida as a Private Investigator and Security Company; he is also a licensed locksmith and training facility in California. He is certified by the Department of Justice as a Livescan fingerprint roller. He is also a 2 nd Lieutenant in The Civil Air Patrol, United States Air Force Auxiliary. Mr. Coventry is the Chief Operations Officer of Starside Security & Investigation which provides Armed and Unarmed Security, Detention Services, Executive Protection (plain clothed armed professionals), Investigation, Locksmith Service and Firearm Training to law enforcement and the military. Starside is one of only 100 Security Companies on the Federal Supply Schedule (GS S) and provides service nationwide. Starside s Corporate Headquarters is located in Diamond Bar, California, (Los Angeles County). Starside also has offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, Boulder CO, Phoenix, AZ, Orlando, FL, and Chicago, IL with two international offices one in Mexico City, Mexico and the other in Durbin South Africa. Mr. Coventry is Board Certified in Security Management and a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) with the American Society for Industrial Security, International. He is a court qualified expert in use of force, force continuum, escalation and de-escalation of force, security management, security training and Executive Protection in Los Angeles, Imperial, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties California, Maricopa County Arizona (Phoenix) and Orange County Florida (Orlando). Mr. Coventry has provided security, executive protection and investigative services for the Government as well as the financial, entertainment and other commercial industries. He has provided executive protection, pre-employment screenings as well as armed and unarmed uniformed security and patrol for both the public and private sector. Mr. Coventry provided executive protection for Bob Dole s presidential bid in 1996 and in the 2008 election for 2 candidates and the current administration. He performed the advance work for a major corporations executives visit to Durban South Africa for the World Cup and multiple Olympic Games. Major Financial Institutions have contracted Starside to provide robbery suppression teams. Mr. Coventry has trained and manages these teams comprised of primarily active and retired law enforcement officers. He has also trained and manages patrol services that provide alarm response and armed ATM technician escort for the banks.
2 Mr. Coventry has consulted and provided Security Services consisting of Off-Duty Law Enforcement and armed and unarmed uniformed security officers with numerous major corporations experiencing labor disputes. He has authored a Guide to Labor Disputes still followed by Starside Security Officers at labor dispute locations. As a result of his efforts these labor disputes have not resulted in violent confrontations, and no Labor Board violations. In September he managed a strike in Oakland and Berkeley and in October Perris, California he will go back to Oakland and Berkeley in early December for another strike. Since September 11, 2001 Mr. Coventry has obtained a certification in homeland security (CHS III) and has been contracted to provide security at two dams. By doing so he has contributed to the security of the states of California and Arizona s infrastructure. Prior to 1991 Mr. Coventry worked at Caltech and California State Fullerton as an MIS Manager and the immediate four years as a Private Investigator and a Personal Protection Specialist, (PPS). During this time, he also earned the designation of Certified Master Investigator (CMI). Mr. Coventry believes in Training, and repetition to building muscle memory. Skills related to Security and Law Enforcement like marksmanship is a perishable skill; if not practiced that skill will deteriorate. Mr. Coventry started training in the Military where he served on the Fort Campbell Pistol Team and Rifle Team, and as a hand to hand combat trainer. He attended numerous military schools Air Assault, Forward Observer, Scout Motorcycle, and Sniper School and was the Honor Graduates of the US Army Nuclear, Biological and Chemical warfare school. Through Starside s Firearm Training Academy (TFF 1279) he has trained over twelve hundred Security Officers in AB 2880 related subject to include Weapons of Mass Destruction, Use of Force, Powers to Arrest and liability in Arizona, California and Florida and Law Enforcement Officers Tactical Carbine and Tactical Shotgun. Mr. Coventry held a Secret Clearance and in recognition of his expertise and commitment to excellence during his assignment in Panama he was selected as part of the protective detail and served as a counter sniper for the Pope s visit. He was deployed as a counter sniper and member of the security detail for then President Reagan s during his visit to Fort Campbell after the Gander Crash. Selected after the President s visit he was assigned as the rifle team Leader travelling around the states for the burial detail honoring many of the 248 Soldiers of the 101 st Airborne Division that perished when their plane crashed on December 12, 1985 in Gander Newfoundland returning from a six-month peacekeeping mission in the Sinai desert. Recently he headed the protective detail for the Jewish federations hosting of Israel s Prime Minister Olmert. Mr. Coventry sits on the Advisory Board for Grossmont College, Corrections Academy, Cal State Fullerton s Extended Education Certificate in Private Investigation. He is the a member of the following professional associations: American Society for Industrial Security, International, Arizona Association of licensed Investigators, California
3 Association of Licensed Investigators, Florida Association of Licensed Investigators, California Institute for Professional Investigators, United States Association of Professional Investigators, Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), California Robbery Investigators Association and Colorado Robbery Association to name a few.
