2 Summer Events with DFMWR Military Spouse Appreciation Day 12 May, , ACS Cafeteria Workshops, a complementary lunch and HBB Open House. Childcare is not provided for this event. All ID Card holders are welcome to attend. Prague Overnight May $159 per adult (double occupancy), $99 for children ages 12 and under. Accommodations are based on double occupancy. Single room supplement is $69. Price includes round-trip transportation, one overnight in a three-star hotel with breakfast and a walking tour of the city of Prague with a local guide. Frankie Ballard 13 May, , WEC Free Armed Forces Entertainment show. The American country music singer/songwriter/guitarist has released two albums each for Reprise Records and Warner Brothers Records - and has charted four singles on the Hot country Songs charts. 2

Volunteer Recognition Ceremony BOSS Berlin New Year s Eve 30 December 1 January Cost is 75 euros per person including round trip transportation and two nights lodging 19 May, Celebrate our community volunteers as well as their contributions to USAG Wiesbaden and our host nation. The event will consist of dinner, entertainment and the Volunteer of the Year awards ceremony. RSVP deadline is 12 May Armed Forces Day 5K 20 May, 1000, Fitness Center $5 for just the T-shirt (first 150 customers) $5 for the race bib $10 for a race bib and T-shirt 3

4 Summer Events with DFMWR Get Fit, Be Strong Youth Fitness Drive 20 May, , Newman Village Sports Complex Aimed at promoting healthy living and fitness in youth as a way of life. Teams will participate in a circuit workout designed to actively engage youth of the community in fun activities while increasing fitness. This is a STRONG B.A.N.D.S. campaign event. Whitewater Rafting May Rafting in the Austrian Alps and camping in the Zugspitze Region of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. $199 per adult, $129 for ages 14-16, $99 for ages 13 and under. Cost for non-rafters is $129 per adult, $99 for ages 16 and under. B.o.B. in Concert 26 May, 1900; Sports, Fitness and Outdoor Recreation Center Free show from Armed Forces Entertainment. The hip hop recording artist and producer is a six-time Grammy nominee known for such hits as "Nothin' On You," "Airplanes," "Magic" and "So Good. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site. Please note: This show is geared toward adults - ages 18 and above. 4

5 THE Event of the Summer! German-American Friendship Fest 29 June 4 July, each day Lower Hainerberg Open Post This six-day event will include amusement rides, dexterity games and other attractions for all ages. There will also be six days of live entertainment, bands, dancers, singers along with a grand fireworks display on July 4. The event will also include a large beer garden and stage, a large variety of U.S. and European food and beverage stands throughout the fest grounds. There will also be military and civilian static displays. 5

11 Directorate of Emergency Services Required safety equipment for operators and passengers on motorcycles, mopeds, motorbikes, all terrain vehicles, or similar vehicles. Motorcycle operators and passengers will wear - Helmet: Properly worn and meet one the standards set by: American National Standards Institute, Snell Memorial Foundation Standards, or the Institut für Zweiradsicherheit e.v. Eye protection: Must meet the Vehicle Equipment Safety Commission Regulation standards or European equivalent. Impact or shatter-resistant goggles or a full-face shield properly attached to the helmet. A windshield or eye glasses alone are not proper eye protection. Full-fingered gloves High-visibility garments: A vest, jacket, upper outer garment, or motorcycle clothing that incorporates fluorescent and highly reflective material at all times when operating or riding as a passenger on vehicles described above. The lightweight mesh physical training vest is not authorized to be worn as a fluorescent and reflective vest but may be used to cover a backpack as long as it is properly secured. Over-the-ankle footwear: according to DODI , paragraph E Footwear should be made of sturdy leather and have a good oilresistant sole to reduce slipping hazards. Service boots meet this requirement. Long-sleeved shirt or jacket and full-length trousers 11

12 Directorate of Emergency Services PT Belts and Vests do not meet the criteria of an upper outer garment that incorporates fluorescent / highly reflective material. Backpacks may not cover reflective outer garments unless the backpack is reflective. Eye Protection Motorcycle Personal Protective Equipment Full Finger Gloves Helmet Full Length Pants Long Sleeves Outer Garment Incorporating Fluorescent and Reflective Materials, Visible from the Front & Rear Sturdy Over the Ankle Boots PT Vest may be used to cover a backpack to ensure the rider is clearly visible. 12

13 Directorate of Emergency Services Bicycle Safety Biking is fun, healthy, and a great way to get around and be independent. But your bike is a VEHICLE, not a toy! Safe Riding Tips and Rules of the Road: Wear a Helmet: Helmets are mandatory for all Service Members, Civilians, Contractors, and their dependents on or off the installation. Cell Phone: Biking while using a cell phone is prohibited. Riding Areas: With the exception of marked bicycle lanes, bicycle riders must use the marked road system. Stay to the Right: Always ride as far right of the road as possible. When It s Dark: Bicycles ridden during hours of darkness must have a headlight that emits white light and a taillight that emits red light. Wheels: Each wheel must have two reflectors mounted on the spokes. Pedals: Must have reflectors that are visible from the front and rear of the bicycle. Fashion: Bike riders will wear light-colored or reflective accessories at night. Music to my ears: Bike riders will not wear listening devices or headphones while riding their bikes. 13

18 Wiesbaden Dental Clinic Soldiers requesting IV Sedation must seek consultation with provider prior to treatment. Patients requiring hearing protection from sounds of dental equipment may bring own smart phones or other noise cancellation plugs. For safety purposes, all patients must notify provider if contiguous conditions exist (cold, flu, Allergies & other respiratory conditions). 18

19 Wiesbaden Veterinary Treatment Facility Veterinary Treatment Facility Normally open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Closed on all Federal Holidays. Half day hours on the last working day of each month for inventory. Care for routine visits, sick call exams, and pet health certificates. International health certificates only good for 10 days from date of issue. Valid Pet Passports for travel within Europe must be done by a German veterinary clinic. Surgical or dental appointments not available. Pets are seen by appointment only. Please allow 72 hours for prescription refills; a valid annual exam with a DOD veterinarian must be on file for all refills. Please contact us at:

20 Wiesbaden Veterinary Treatment Facility Pets PCSing to CONUS USA only require current rabies vaccine and a health certificate within 10 days of travel. Pets PCSing to other countries may require more. Korea and Hawaii require blood tests and it can take months before the animal can enter the country. If you are out-processing the VTF and are transferring ownership of your pet, you must have a pet transfer document signed by you and the new owner in hand at time of out-processing. Possible future man power shortages may further restrict appointments. However PCS Health Certificate appointments will always be a priority. Please contact us at:
