2 General Rules Dress Code The following regulations regarding student dress generally requirements of the Dress Code Policy below: Though an individual s dress and adornment/appearance is a matter of personal preference and choice, certain styles of dress/appearance are not appropriate in school for the health, safety, welfare of students and staff. Students will be required to change inappropriate clothing or appearance or be sent home to do so and return. For this reason, the following guidelines are established: a) Wear clothes that are not revealing or suggestive, such as see through blouses, halter tops, tank tops, bare midriffs, cutoffs. b) Wear clothing, jewelry, and other accessories which do not promote, encourage, or depict any form of drugs (including alcohol), obscene, lewd or vulgar language or action, or promote any illegal activity. c) Wear pants which are secure around the waist. Pants may not be distressed (e.g. have rips or holes). d) Wear clothing which cannot potentially cause harm to another person, damage to property, or create an unsafe environment. e) Wear shorts and skirts, the hem of which must be no shorter than two inches above the knee. f) Outdoor clothing or accessories such as coats, hats, bandanas, gloves, picks and the like may not be worn inside the school building. Outerwear must be placed in lockers and is not permitted to be worn during the school day. Hoodies may be worn during the school day, however the hoods must remain down the entire time students are attending school. g) Students must wear shoes or footwear appropriate for the school setting. Hard-soled shoes, including sneakers, are appropriate. Students may not wear opentoed shoes, slippers, high-heels, sandals or flip-flops to school. Grades K-8 Dress Code: a) Pants or shorts in any solid colors which must be dress or docker in style and be worn or belted at the waist. The hem of the shorts must be no shorter than two inches above the knee. b) Shirts must be oxford, buttoned polo or turtleneck style with sleeves (short or long) and collar and must be in any solid color (e.g. no patterns, words, pictures, etc.). Shirts must be tucked into pants at all times. c), in solid colors and worn or belted at the waist. The hem of the skirts, skorts and jumpers must be no shorter than two inches above the knee. d) Optional: sweaters (v-neck or cardigan), blazer, suit jacket or vest, to be worn over shirt, in any solid color. a) b) c) High School (Grades 9-12) Dress Code: Pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, in any solid color (e.g. no patterns, words or pictures, etc.), including denim or jeans, which must be worn or belted at the waist. Shirts must be tucked into the pants/skirts at all times, provided, however, students may wear shirts or jerseys with the official or approved name or logo of the home school to which they are assigned, including athletic jerseys and club gear. Specific dress requirements may be assigned to students participating in technical labs or other classes or activities that necessitate the wearing of specific clothing in order to maintain the health and safety of that student and others. These class or activity-specific rules will be established by the Building Administrator or classroom teacher and will be delienated in the class, lab or activity syllabus. Failure of a student to abide by these health and safety dress requirements may result in the student s removal from that class, lab or activity. 4 Logging into the Student Portal Student Portal To begin using the Student Portal, launch your web browser and just follow these easy steps: 1. Log onto the Erie School District website at 2. Select Students 3. Select Infinite Campus Student Portal, then Click the Infinite Campus logo 4. Enter your User Name and Password then click Log In. The format is as follows: a. USERNAME: 6-digit student ID number b. PASSWORD: student first initial, last initial, and birthdate in the format FLMMDDYY (ie. aa010294) Navigating the Student Portal 1. The Calendar link shows a calendar with all assignments and attendance events. 2. To view your grades, select the Schedule icon under your name. Once the schedule has opened, you may click on any course name to open the gradebook for that course. You may click on the teacher name to that teacher. 3. To view your attendance, select the Attendance icon under your name. 4. Standardized test scores stored on Infinite Campus can be viewed by clicking the Assessment icon (Not all test types are recorded on Infinite Campus.) 5. To view reports, select the Reports icon under your name. 6. Click the Contact Preferences icon to verify that your address is correct. 7. Click the Sign Out icon to log off the system.
5 Navigating the Parent Portal Parent Portal After you have successfully logged into the portal you will see the following screen: 1. If you have more than one student in the district, you will need to click the SELECT A STUDENT menu at the top of the screen to select which of your students you wish to view. 2. By clicking the Calendar tab, you will be shown the current month s calendar showing assignments and attendance events for all of your students. 3. By clicking the Contact preferences tab, you can update your address. Once you ve selected your student, or if you only have one student in the district, your portal session will open on the Calendar view. 1. By clicking on the Schedule tab, you will see your student s schedule as shown below: 2. By clicking on the notebook icon next to the course name, you can open the grade book for that class. Here you will see your student s assignments, tests, etc. 3. By clicking on the envelope icon next to the teacher s name, you can the teacher of that class.
6 How to Set Up Your Parent Portal Account To begin using the Parent Portal right now, launch your web browser and just follow these easy steps: 1. Log onto the Erie School District website at 2. Select Parents 3. Select Infinite Campus Parent Portal. 4. Click HELP to expand the sign-in window 5. Select Click Here to input your Campus Portal Activation Key 6. Enter your 32-character Campus Portal Activation Key exactly as it appears and click [Submit]. 7. You should now be at the Welcome Screen which states Campus Portal account creation successful! Double check to make sure this screen has your name on it. This is where you will create your username and password for future visits to the Infinite Campus Portal The username must be at least 6 characters in length The password must be at least 6 characters in length **Choose a password that you can remember easily, but will be hard for others to guess. Please destroy the 32-character Portal Activation Code as soon as you enter your new username and password. 8. Once your password has been accepted, you will be invited to Click Here to enter the Parent Portal Page. 9. Type in your new ID and password and click Log In.
