My name is Carol, and I am happy you joined us at the first ever Cash for College scholarship awareness night! Every organization that is here tonight, including the Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County, is here because we want you to know the opportunities for financial support available to you as you pursue your education after high school. As you walk around the tables tonight make a mental note of those to which you want to apply. You miss 100% of the shots you don t take! We know you have finals coming up and have a lot to think about as you plan your next steps, so keep this list with you to have throughout the spring as you apply to school and for scholarships. In this you ll find information about deadlines, eligibility requirements and where to go for more information as you apply. We hosted Cash for College so you know the local scholarship opportunities available to you and to get you excited about looking for more. Keep the search going online with platforms like Unigo.com and Scholarship Experts, and never use a scholarship search service that requires you to pay. 4 Arizona Community Foundation Scholarships The online application for Arizona Community Foundation scholarships is now open! Through our online system, high school seniors and college students alike complete one application and are automatically matched with every one of our 80 scholarship opportunities for which they qualify. Award amount: Award amounts vary by scholarship. Deadline: Scholarship deadlines vary, so apply early to maximize your opportunities! To apply: Go to Dorrance Scholarship Program The Dorrance Family Foundation created the Dorrance Scholarship Program in 1999 to provide academic and financial support to Arizona s first-generation college students. Seniors graduating from an accredited Arizona high school that will be the first generation to attend college, meet academic requirements and demonstrate financial need are eligible. The program provides much more than financial support, including advising throughout college, cultural enrichment and educational experiences. Award amount: $12,000 per year for eight semesters Deadline: 5:00 p.m. February 17, 2016 To apply: Go to Arizona Opportunity Scholarship The Arizona Opportunity Scholarship is made available to students who graduated from an Arizona high school in May The award is used for a student s first year at Prescott College s on-campus undergraduate program. Award amount: $3,000 Deadline: Rolling application To apply: Go to PHS Alumni Half Century Club Scholarship The Prescott High School Alumni Half Century Club Scholarship is open to any Prescott High School graduate who will continue their education within one year. Prescott High School PTSA Scholarship The Prescott High School PTSA Scholarship is open to graduates of the high school who complete the application and essay. Three awards are available. Prescott Sunrise Lions Vocational Scholarship The Prescott Sunrise Lions Vocational Scholarship is open to graduating seniors going on to study a vocational trade. Republican Women of Prescott Scholarship The Republican Women of Prescott Scholarship is open to graduates of any Yavapai County high school with a parent or guardian who is a registered Republican. 5 John Hanna Sr. Memorial Scholarship The John Hanna Sr. Memorial Scholarship is open to any Prescott High School graduate pursuing education in Police Science or Fire Science at Yavapai College. Kayla Mueller Community Service Scholarship The Kayla Mueller Community Service Scholarship is open to graduates of any Quad Cities high school demonstrating a commitment to community service. Mountain Artists Guild Scholarship The Mountain Artists Guild Scholarship is open to high school graduates raised in Yavapai County who will attend college and either major or minor in visual arts. Derk Janssen Memorial Scholarship is open to a Prescott High School graduate who either participated in Academic Decathlon and/or wants to major in English. Kiwanis Club of Prescott Community Service Scholarship The Kiwanis Community Service scholarship is open to any student who demonstrates a commitment to community service and involvement. Courtney Lee Wagner Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is open to students at Prescott High School who demonstrate compassion for others by their actions. 6 Democratic Women of Prescott Area Scholarship The Democratic Women of Prescott Area scholarship is open to any graduating high school senior from the Quad Cities with one parent or grandparent who is a registered Democrat. Beck Scholarship This scholarship is open to Prescott High School students who have been accepted to the University of Arizona and have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or above. Audubon Environmental Scholarship The Prescott Audubon Society s environmental scholarship is available to any collegebound graduating high school student from Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, Mayer, Bagdad, Lake Havasu City or Kingman. FACESS The FACESS scholarship is open to an Arizona student graduating with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and who has been admitted to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University declaring a major in forensic biology, aeronautical science, computer engineering, software engineering or space physics. Gem and Mineral Club Scholarship The Gem and Mineral Club Scholarship is open to students graduating from any Yavapai County high school pursuing secondary education in lapidary, jewelry making or possibly geology. Applicants must submit an essay of 100 words or more explaining why they want the scholarhsip and what they will do with the knowledge gained.
