1 February 28, 2018 Dear DSHS Senior, On behalf of the Rotary Club of Dripping Springs Foundation, I am writing to inform you of an exciting scholarship opportunity. The Foundation was established in 2016 to enable our local club to make contributions to benefit our community and local charities and to award scholarships to deserving Dripping Springs High School Seniors. Each year the committee determines the number and amount of scholarships to be offered based on the applicant pool and funds available from the Foundation. In order to be considered by our Scholarship Committee, each applicant must submit the attached scholarship application form and financial disclosure form, three letters of recommendation, an employment history (which may include non-paying internships), and their official transcript to rotaryclubdrippingsprings@gmail.com no later than 5:00 p.m. CDT on Monday, April 2, The recipient or recipients will be notified after April 15 and will be recognized at the annual senior awards banquet at Dripping Springs High School. 2 Eligibility for Rotary Club of Dripping Springs Foundation Scholarship: Applicant must be a senior at Dripping Springs High School who will attend a two-year or four-year institution of higher education after graduation. Basis of Scholarship Award: Academics, high school and community involvement, financial need, and essay. Scholarship selection: Applications are reviewed and judged by the scholarship committee of the Rotary Club of Dripping Springs. Application requirements: Applicant must complete the following: 1. Scholarship Application Form 2. Financial Disclosure Form 3. Employment History- Your current two-year employment record. This may be a paying position or a non-paying internship. Include type(s) of job(s), dates employed and indicate whether job(s) have been full-time or part-time. (Applicant may include résumé in lieu of employment history so long as résumé includes required information.) 4. Three letters of recommendation- attach as pdf. The letters should be from teachers, advisors, and/or school administrators. 5. Undergraduate transcript- attach as pdf. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA. DEADLINE: Application packets must be received no later than 5 p.m. CDT on Monday, April 2, Each recipient will be announced at the Dripping Springs High School Senior Awards Ceremony, as well as in multiple community publications. Each recipient s check will be directed to recipient s school registrar for the academic year upon recipient s submission of the relevant tuition invoice. There will be no exceptions made on payment of scholarships to the institution of higher education. Your reference will need to sign and date his/her letter and return to you as a final, non-editable document, either in hard copy form or as an electronic pdf. Then, the applicant should submit the signed and dated references in pdf format along with the rest of their application. To the persons serving as a reference for scholarship applicant: The above applicant is applying for the Rotary Club of Dripping Springs Foundation scholarship. A requirement of the application process is the procurement of letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the applicant s academic progress, school involvement, community service, and/or financial status, on which selection is dependent. Please give your opinion of the applicant s capability and potential using the following as guidelines for your recommendation: In what capacity have you known the applicant and for how long? If you are returning your recommendation letter to the applicant, please make sure to sign and date the letter and present it in a hard copy to her.
