3 Institute Accolades CAMPUS NEWS Excellent Technical Education Institute 2014 Award by CMAI BERG Award for Innovation and Excellence in Education 2014 The institute received top honours as Excellent Technical Institute in Karnataka at National Karnataka Education Summit and Awards 2014, for good institute profile, academics and students' performance over the years. The award was received by Mr. Anant Mandagi, President, Karnatak Law Society, Mr. M. R. Kulkarni, Chairman Karnatak Law Society, and Dr. A.S. Deshpande, Principal, KLS Gogte Institute of Technology. Our institute is recognized for Innovation and Excellence in the category of Engineering Institute, by Singapore based Business Excellence and Research Group (BERG) at the inaugural BERG Awards for Education 2014, in Singapore. Mr. Prakash Badkundri, Secretary, Karnatak Law Society, Mr. Uday Kalkundrikar, Chairman, Governing Council of KLS GIT, received the award on behalf of the institute at a grand event held at Singapore. BRICS Meet 2014, Beijing, China Our institute was one of the few institutions from India to be invited to attend the 6th BRICS Meet Prof. Fan Libo, Party Secretary School-level Committee and Deputy Dean of Business School of UIBE inaugurated the meet and interacted with participant universities and institutes on Innovation and Future Management Education. Dr. A. S. Deshpande, Principal KLS GIT, Dr. Praveen Kulkarni, Head, Department of Management Studies, KLS GIT attended the meet and deliberated the discussions.

4 Best Accredited Student Branch Award by CSI The institute reached greater heights with Best Accredited Branch Award conferred to our Department of Computer Science and Engineering on 12th December, 2014, by 'Computer Society of India (CSI)' during its Golden Jubilee Year celebrations. We feel proud to have won this award consecutively for the fifth time. 5 National Conference on Advanced Technologies in Electrical & Electronics Systems National Conference on Emerging trends in Chemistry and Materials Science The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized National level Conference on Advanced Technologies in Electrical and Electronics Systems (ATEES) 2014, on 21st and 22nd March. The aim was to provide an outstanding scope to researchers, technocrats, academicians, students and industrial communities to address and discuss new trends and challenges, emerging technologies and progress. Solar Architecture of Belagavi The Department of Architecture of KLS GIT organized a workshop on Solar A r c h i t e c t u r e o f Belagavi on 6th and 7 t h N ove m b e r, The workshop was channelled by Ar. Mukund Datye of Nasik. He elaborated on how Architecture s h o u l d b e susceptible to the climate of the region. The National Conference on "Emerging trends in Chemistry and Materials Science was organized by Department of Chemistry on 13th October 2014, with the objective of bringing together leading Academicians, Scientists, Research Scholars and Students from different parts of the Country to a common platform enabling exchange of ideas, experiences, and also to showcase the research work carried out at KLS GIT. Plenary Lectures were delivered by Dr. Rodney Fernandes, IIT- Bombay, Dr. Basavraj M.G.IIT Madras, and Dr. C. D. Lokhande, Shivaji University, Kolhapur. CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMME (CEP) FOR P.W.D. ENGINEERS The Department of Civil Engineering organized A Continuing Education Programme (CEP) for P.W.D. Engineers on MS EXCEL, Total Station (Theory & Practical) and RCC Detailing in the months of August, October and December respectively. Independence Day Celebrations As India celebrated her 68th Independence Day, KLS GIT paid tribute to the nation. The national flag was hoisted by the Principal, Dr. A S Deshpande, who later addressed the gathering, motivating with the fact that just as India is progressing, KLS GIT too has come a long way on the path of progress. He stressed the point that as the institute grows it will definitely result in the growth of individuals' as well.

6 International Associations KLS GIT has association with international B Schools like University of International Business and Economics, Shanghai University of International Business & Economics, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies-MBA, Beijing Union University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Shanghai International Studies University, Renmin University of China, Far Eastern Federal University, Russia, State University of Management, Russia. The objective of the association is to promote mutual faculty exchange programme and student exchange programme. The emphasize is on the need to understand local business process and link them to innovation / research. Kannada Balaga KLS GIT KANNADA BALAGA is very active, and conducts cultural, literary and sports events for the students to create an awareness of culture and history of Karnataka State. The main intent is to give a platform to the students from rural background. To commemorate Dr. Radhakrishan and Sir M. V. Vishveswarayya Gurupoojanam was celebrated on 22nd September, This programme was completely initiated and executed by students of Kannada Balaga. Karnataka Rajyotsava Day was celebrated on 1st November, Col. Deepak Gurung of Maratha Light Infantry Regimental center Belagavi was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gurung, a north Indian who has learnt Kannada, lauded Kannada language and termed it as a rich language. On the occasion, a web site android app designed by the students was launched, also a photography exhibition called KARNATAKA DARSHANA was arranged by students of Kannada Balaga. Research Publications Sirigannadasambhrama was conducted on 28th March, 2014 for the students to showcase their various skills. More than 800 students participated in different competitions like rangoli, drawing, quiz, hudoku sudoku (treasure hunt), debate, essay, singing, kabaddi and lagori. As a part of SirigannadaSambhrama, a comedy show Nage Habba by Shri Ravi Bhajantri was organized on 2nd April, With a great timing sense of comedy he presented a hearty meal of laughter to the audience. The faculty of KLS GIT published a host of academic research papers, articles in various national and international journals, and conferences. 32 papers were presented at various International Conferences. 22 papers were presented at National Conferences. 13 papers were published in various International Journals with high impact factor. 8 papers were published in National Journals.

7 Faculty Colloquium (Workshops and FDPs conducted...) A one day workshop on Structures in Architecture, by eminent Architect Engineer Ar. Bharath Gowda, was organized on 30th July, He elaborated on the need for teaching Structure in more graphical method. A two day Faculty Development Programme on FPGA& ASIC Design using Mentor Graphic Tools was conducted on 11th and 12th March, A two-day seminar on Recent Trends in Mathematics and Its Application was conducted on 28th and 29th January, Faculty Orientation Programme was conducted on 21st and 23rd July, I phase and II phase of QEEE Pedagogy was organized in the month of July, 2014 in association with IIT, Bombay. ISTE Workshop on Fluid Mechanics was conducted in the month of May, 2014 under the aegis of National Mission Education & MHRD and IIT Kharagpur. Faculty Development Programme on CAMD was conducted on 13th March, Ingeniours Mr. Kartik Verma, student of Computer Science & Engineering was a Google student ambassador, and is presently working in Amazon. He was one of the only two students in the world, who was selected by Google to participate in its London event. Alarm clock inside the bulb without breaking the bulb...? Quadcoptor Mr. Viraj Dhaimodkar a student of B.Arch has built, out of his own interest, a Quadcoptor by researching on how to do oneself on the net, sourcing various components from various o n l i n e s t o r e s. T h i s contraption built at a fraction of cost at which the commercial ones are available in the market, is a mirror to ingenuity and creativity of the student. It's a great tool for students, architects for Arial survey, Photographic documentation. Solar Seed Sprayer, Grass Cutter, Vacuum Cleaner in a Single Unit Mr. Basavaraj S. Mavinakatti student of Electronics & Electrical Engineering enters into LIMCA Book of Records Mr. Omkar Kargar, Mr. Gangaram Gurav and Mr. Pramod Harde of Mechanical Department participated in the Student Project Programme (SPP) and completed a project entitled Solar Seed Sprayer, Grass Cutter, Vacuum Cleaner in a single unit, and presented it at the Exhibition held at KLE society's B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology, Hubballi on 28th and 29th July, 2014.

8 First Place at the National Tech Fest, Bengaluru Distinguished Speakers Mr. Sumanth N.R, Mr. Neerav Jain, Mr. Shashank Desai and Mr. Sangamesh T. students of Computer Science Engineering with their automated designed robot secured the First place in the event LINE FOLLOWER (A Robotic Event) at Magnovite 2014 the National Techfest held at Christ University Bengaluru. The track was completed in seconds. This thrilling performance received a standing ovation by the live spectators comprising of local and international delegates. Project of the Year, KSCST Award Students of Mechanical Department Mr.Ajinkya Pitre, Mr. Kaustubh Kulkarni, Mr. Karan Jadhav and Mr. Subhas Patil, under the guidance of Dr. Shrinivas Gombi, completed a project entitled Driving Accessory for Handicapped which was selected for the Project of the year award, during the 37 series Seminar and Exhibition held at KLE Society's B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology, Hubballi, on 28th and 29th July, 2014 by Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology(KSCST). This project has opened an opportunity for double leg amputees, Polio affected people to ride any type of car independently. Mr. Rajiv Kalamdani, an aluminous of our college, presently working as Head Master Black Belt and Virtual Manufacturing at Ford Motor Company, Livonia, Michigan, USA., visited our institute on 14th October, He apprised the students on Virtual Manufacturing. Honourable Justice, Shri Arvind Kumar, High Court of Karnataka, on 10th May, Eminent thinker and Artist Mr. Jinan K B visited on 5th December, He interacted on the current issues in Basic Design Teaching and Retaining Contextuality in Design Pedagogy.

9 Mr. Rajeev Kulkarni, GM-Engg, Tata Toyo, Pune visited on 14th August, 2014 and apprised the students of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing. Mr. Shravan Shivanagi delivered a lecture on Preparing for Higher Studies in Abroad on 25th August, Awareness Regarding Corruption by Lokayukta Shri Ravikumar Nayak Engineering Awareness Programme Moral Awareness Programme Internet ke Side Effects by Mr. Abhishek Clifford, RESCUE NGO from the US was conducted on 18th March, Vanamahotsava Mr. D Janardhan, Executive Director, Naren Energy Solution Pvt. Ltd.visited on 29th October, In his talk emphasized on the 'Necessity of energy saving & simple implementation tips to strengthen awareness in the community'.

10 Guest Lectures during 2014 Mr. Shashank Sharma, Technical Lead, Samsung Electronics, Bengaluru gave a Technical Talk. Mr. Milind Pawshe on Use of Modern Software in Civil Engineering. Dr. Rajan M.A a Senior Scientist from Tata Consultancy Services, Bengaluru, spoke in a seminar. Ar. Bijoy Ramchandran of Hundred Hands, Bengaluru as a part of 'Space Talk Series' presented a talk on his work, highlighting the details and concepts. Mr. Venkatesh Murthy, consulting structural engineer, Bombay, spoke on the Design Challenges of High Rise Structures. Mr. Deepak Rotti of QuEST Global visited on 29th March 2014, and apprised the students about the Industrial Requirements. Also Mr. Girish Mutagi and Mr. Choudary visited on 26th April, 2014, and conducted a session on GD & T. Mr. Abhishek Bhat, Technology Specialist, Honey well, Bangalore, on Challenges in IT Industry, on 23rd August, Mr. Ravikumar Chinta, Mr. Ajit Badiger, from Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, a session on Cutting Tools Technology, on 20th September, Mr. Ravindra Desai, Design Engineer, Proprietor India Labs Kolhapur, on Aligning Academic Projects. Mr. Ramesh Gangoor briefed about the contribution of Indians in the field of Architecture, Engineering, Science and Technology. Mr. Raghavendra Kulkarni talked on "Internet of Things Cyber Driving the Physical Systems, and on Automotive electronics and Global Trends in Standardization". Dr. Mahesh Hosur, Professor, Tuskegee University, USA addressed the students on Polymeric Composites and Nano-Composites for Engineering Applications. Dr. Lalit Borana, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong apprised the students about the Research Opportunities in Civil Engineering in the Universities outside India, on 18th September, Ms. Radhika Santosh, Asst Manager, QuEST Global Engineering delivered a talk on QuEST-University relations and awareness about CADAM course on 8th August, A series of lectures conducted for KLS GIT MBA students: Entrepreneurship and Business Planning, 1-Day Workshop, by IIM, Ahmedabad. Mr. C. V. Gurjar, SBI, on Evolution & Revolution in Banking Sector, Mr. T. Jaganmohan, Ashoka Iron Works, Belagavi, on Winning Strategies Mr. Praveen Ramdurg, District Industrial Center Belagavi on DIC & its Association in the Growth of SMEs. Mr. Rahul Phadke, Prime Industries Belagavi on Role of B- Schools. Mr. Nagraj Bhatn BNB Soft Belagavi on ERP in SMEs. Mr. Parag Saraiya, Adam Reality Partners Belagavi on Employers Expectations from MBAs. Mr. Harsh Patil, Patson Ford Belagavi on Charms of Entrepreneurship. Industrial Visits The students of Department of Architecture visited Ahmedabad and surrounding places. They visited places of Architectural importance like CEPT, IIM, Institute of Indology, Corbusien Buildings, Jami Masjid, Sun Temple Modhera, Stepped Wells at Adalaj and Patan. They also visited Udaypur, and Jain Temples at Mount Abu.

11 Industrial Visits Dr. S. V. Divekar organized study tour for students of Department of Computer Science on 30th March, 2014 to Rakaskop and Hidakal dam sites. 30 students participated in the tour. The water samples were collected from the dam sites and analyzed by the students in the Chemistry department. The students of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering visited Kaiga Nuclear power plant and Hydro power plant at Kadra. They also visited Sathodi Falls. Prof. A. V. Deshpande and Prof. Satish Dodamani planned and organized this tour. SHANGHAI Visit Students of Department of MBA along with faculty members visited Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Ltd. They got an opportunity to interact with the top executives, and experience production process. The interaction was focused on Human Resource Management and challenges faced in managing huge human resource of 13,000 employees at the unit. They also visited Shanghai Maglev Transportation Development Co. Ltd., and experienced the ride. The interaction with the company provided the information of cost of building the rail network and technology application in the production of the trains.

12 PLACEMENTS Our institute continues to be one of the most favoured talent hunting ground for the corporate world. This is reflected in the number students placed this year. Of the current batch more than 350 students are already placed in various companies. We are confident of reaching 100% placement by the end of the final semester. The Placement Cell serves as an interface between the students and the corporate. The Pre-placement activities set out on 20th May, 2014 with the Placement Day. Various workshops and seminars were conducted wherein knowledge regarding resume writing, handling interviews, group discussion and aptitude tests was imparted to students. Theresource persons were Mr. Ajay Joshi and Ms. Roopa Samant. The Day One of the placements saw 124 offers made by TCS. Mercedes Benz visited for the second successive year.an MOU is signed with KPIT for Program Academic Collaboration and Engagement. We have been very active in making KLS GIT as a placement destination. This has reflected in many companies visiting our institute for the placement drives. A few of the companies visited so far... WINSTREAK WAVES , BITS, GOA Students of our institute participated in National cultural fest, Waves'14 held at BITS Pilani Goa during 31st October to 2nd November, 2014 and won 1st Prize in Nukkad Natak (Dramatics), Fashion Show, Skime, Mock and Talk Show, Classical songs, Instrumental etc and 2nd place in Indian Rock, Mock Tail and Flash etc. About 115 colleges from Hyderabad,New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore had participated in this fest and KLS GIT was one of the top performing institutes.

13 ZONAL NASA CONVENTION 2014, Bengaluru The students of Department of Architecture won Reuben Trophy Citation awarded for the best academic work, Dance Trophy Special Mention, Fashion Design Jury Special Mention, T- Shirt and Flag Design Second Special Mention in Zonal Level NASA Convention held by BMS School of Architecture, Bengaluru, from 23rd to 25th October, The convention had participation from over 32 colleges from the states like Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Telengana. Highest Committed Student,CSI, India Mr. Neerav Jain of Computer Science Engineering was awarded as the Highest Committed Student Branch Activist by Computer Society of India (CSI). SHAASTRA-2014, IIT Madras Mr. Sayed Shoaib from Information Science and Technology won the 1st prize for the event Wright Design in National Tech Fest SHAASTRA organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in January Students' Club Activities GENESYS V5.0', a flagship event of Computer Society of India, Student Branch, KLS GIT, was conducted from 4th to16th April, This National Level Tech fest included 25 events under three major categories viz. Technical, Quasi Technical, and Informal. C Buzz-Programmer's Event' was conducted on 19th September, 2014 by ACE that provided the students a platform to showcase their coding skills, enhance their logical and technical capabilities. This test included C language based objectives and tricky programs. OCULUS'14, a two day technical event was organized in the month of October. It gives a platform to the students to showcase their engineering skills by developing working models, simulations, concepts etc. QUESTERS'14 Thinking BIG, a two day national level Techno- Cultural Fest was organized from 28th February, to 1st March, More than 20 teams participated from all over India. Apart from eight different events Technical Talks by experts were also organized. INCIPIO'14, an event was organized on 27th September, 2014 as a part of NASA day celebrations. Students participated in various events like Painting exhibition and Photography exhibition. The students not only participated in different events but also got a platform to exhibit their creativity, skills and imagination.

14 IEEE Day was organized on 10th October, The annual flagship event PAANCHAJANYA'14 was organized from 28th to 30th March. More than 600 students participated in 20 different events. Eight students of IEEE - KLS GIT attended All India Students' Congress (AICS) conducted by IEEE Gujrat section in Ahmedabad in the month of October 2014 AADVAITH CULTURAL CARNIVAL-2014 a Management Fest was organized on 14th and 15th April, Students from various colleges in Karnataka participated in six different events. The students of the Computer Science department Celebrated Teachers' Day in a unique way, by visiting two orphanages. The students spent their time with the children. Blood Donation Camp in association with Rotary Club and Innerwheel Club was organized to support the requirement of blood on 28th February and 1st March, FARHAN AKHTAR LIVE Musical Fete Renowned Actor-Director Farhan Akhtar performed live for the first time in Belgavi for KLS Gogte Institute of Technology as a part of GIT's annual cultural fest AURA , with his band, 'Farhan Live'. He enthralled the audience by showcasing a wide range of music spanning rock to romance. SANGEET SANDHYA (A GRAND MUSICAL EVENING) KLS GIT in association with SPIC MACAY organized Hindustani Classical Music and Santavaani by renowned Hindustani Classical Vocalist Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, Hubli. Accompanied by Sri Narendra L Nayak, Mangalore on Harmonium and Sri Rajendra Nakod, Bangalore on Tabla, and Master Ankush N Nayak, Mangalore performed Sitar. He was accompanied by Sri Rajendra Nakod on Tabla.

17 Alumni Relation Cell The first ever Annual General body Meeting (AGM) of the office bearers of the Alumni Relations cell and Alumni was held on the 13th of September, The meeting brought together the newly appointed office bearers of the various alumni chapters and the college team to chalk out activities for the various alumni chapters. The event also saw the inauguration of the alumni cell. Alumni Meet, Pune The alumni who attended the meet spanned from the 1984 batch to the most recent batch i.e., Dr. A. S. Deshpande, Principal KLS GIT, in his inaugural address welcomed all the alumni and presented to the audience the remarkable progress that GIT has made over the years. The alumni shared their views and recollected their old memories. The evening ended with a gala dinner. Reunion Batch 1989 A reunion meet of the 1989 batch alumni was held on 20th December, In celebration of 25 years of their Graduation, Alumni from the US, Mumbai, Pune, Benguluru and Belagavi made it to the reunion. The Alumni shared their experiences and relived their College days in an informal interaction in the Institute campus.

18 Innovative Entrepreneurs' Incubation Center The New Age Incubation Center at KLS GIT for Entrepreneurship Development and Mentoring by Government of Karnataka has unfolded opportunities for entrepreneurs who wish to cater to the projects that solve local problems and find solutions to local needs. The year 2014 has seen fledgling of five such projects. dotcord IT Solutions Pvt Ltd is a company founded by a group of students of KLS GIT, Belagavi with a professional tint to their pursue of knowledge. The aim is to provide services to help clients identify, define and realize their business solutions tailored for the unique requirement of each individual client. IdeaFlask provides services in the areas of Web Application development, Mobile Apps, Interaction Design, Visual Design and Responsive Design. The focus is on simplicity, interaction design, usability, web standards and accessibility to make products effective, efficient and aesthetic. DealDeeds Biz Tech is online Business-to Business and Business-to Consumer business ecosystem for micro-mid to large sized business. It provides sophisticated market platform and technology for the suppliers to reach their potential buyers and potential buyers with quality suppliers across the world. INFICLOUD provides Cloud Environment for Virtualized Engineering Labs. It aims to provide private Cloud for engineering colleges and also to provide user interface to access the virtualized computer labs.
