6 A visit of AIT s Vice President for Development to YTU 3 rd Feb Participants from AIT are as follows: 1) Mr. Surendra Man Shrestha Vice President for Development (VPD) 2) Ms. Guzman, Carol Cabildo, Program Officer, External Relations Office. Vice President for Development of AIT visited YTU to meet Professor U Kyi Hla Nge, Vice Chairman of Educational Upgrading Committee, and Rector of YTU Prof. Dr. Myint Thein. Gathering Dinner with AIT Faculties visiting for AIT Day 3 rd Feb After the visit of AIT Faculties in Nay Pyi Taw for the meetings with Ministers and senior government officials of several Ministries, the Faculties met with alumni of AITAA Myanmar Chapter at Kone Myint Thar Restaurant. 7 Supporting AIT Seminar & AIT Day Function held at UMFCCI, Yangon. 4 th Feb A seminar of AIT Faculties on Sustainable Development was offered in the morning session, and an Open Forum on Studying at AIT was held in the afternoon session. About 150 participants attended the function. Seminar on How to Write Research Proposal 11 th March AIT Alumnus Dr. Lwin Lwin Aung provided a seminar to the graduates planning to pursue Post Graduate Studies. The seminar was given at MES, Yangon. About 100 graduates participated in the seminar. AIT English Entry Test (AIT- EET) at Yangon 18 th March Assisted in testing the AIT-EET at UMFCCI for the applicants who are going to enroll in AIT intake. About 150 people sat the test. 7
8 Welcome Dinner 20 th May Hosted a welcoming dinner to SOM Dean during his visit for SOM Open House Day Function at MES, Yangon. SOM Open House Day at Yangon 21 st May Supported the SOM Open House Day Function organized by SOM at Function Hall, MES, Hlaing Universities Campus. About 40 participants attended the function. Meeting with YTU 25 th July Coordinated for the meeting of Dr. Matthew N. Dailey & Dr. Attaphongse Taparugssonagorn from ICT Department, AIT with Professor Dr. Myint Thein, Rector of YTU. Gathering Dinner with Alumni Group from Vietnam 23 rd September AIT Alumni from Vietnam visited and met with AIT alumni friends in Myanmar through a joyful gathering dinner. 8

The Township authorities and local villagers joined the meeting with the team of AITAA Myanmar Chapter, and discussed about the urgent requirement of a new school building for the middle school as the school was severely affected by floods during the monsoon in. 9

Impact to AIT AIATAA Myanmar Chapter s current mission and vision are: Mission AITAA Myanmar Chapter support AIT with affordable capacity, and encourage to country's sustainable development especially in educational sector, by building the continuously growing network between all AIT Alumni residing in Myanmar and oversea. Vision To become a dynamic team sharing achievements and experiences through its network and supporting to create better learning environment for next generation 1) Direct Support AITAA Myanmar Chapter is a bridge between AIT and AIT Alumni, a Forum among the AIT Alumni for social activities as well as professional ones. Furthermore, AITAA Myanmar Chapter assists and provides the information related to AIT for the potential students as necessary. AITAA Myanmar Chapter coordinates and organizes seminars, workshops, trainings accordingly, and social parties in line with the objectives of AITAA (Myanmar) Chapter as follows: 1) To strengthen networking among Myanmar AIT Alumni 2) To contribute to the development of Myanmar Society 3) To promote the image of AIT. 2) Indirect Support The first Myanmar student completed his Master in No Myanmar student joined AIT for a few years after that as AIT was not well known in Myanmar at that time. From 1981 to 1985, only 19 Myanmar students graduated from AIT (less than 4 students per year on average). Total graduated Myanmar students increased to 25 from 1986 to 1990 (average 5 students per year). In 1991 alone, a total of 25 Myanmar students graduated from AIT which was the first significant increase of Myanmar alumni. A total of Myanmar alumni to date is 956 (as of September ). There will be more Myanmar alumni in coming years as several scholarships including DAAD, Norwegian Government have granted a considerable number of scholarships to Myanmar citizens. The number of Myanmar Students graduated in each year is shown in the graph below. Majority of Myanmar alumni live and work in Myanmar in various capacities most of them are successful leaders in their respective fields. 19

Chapter/ AITAA Myanmar Chapter is in the process of forming an official association by registering at the Ministry of Home Affairs. After this set up is approved by the authority, we will extend our Alumni networks more efficiently and effectively, and will also form sub-chapters in major cities such as Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, and Taunggyi, etc. 20
