1 Redlands Community Foundation SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS 2018 Redlands High School (Last revised on : 01/17/2018) # NAME DESCRIPTION 1 American Association of University Women This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior girl with a minimum 3.0 GPA who, in an essay, expresses educational and career goals which demonstrate an appreciation of and a willingness to pursue the AAUW mission of advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Applicants should include the information required by this scholarship using the specific essay listed on the Directory Page. Allen Athletic Memorial 6 American Legion Aux #650 - Philip Marmolejo This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior girl who has been accepted and will be attending the University of Redlands in the fall as a full-time student, honors Ruth Adams, a science teacher at RHS from 1951 to This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior from any Redlands Unified high school who has a 2.5 GPA or higher. This student must have attended Victoria Elementary School for at least three years and has continued to follow the Victoria Peace Builder's Pledge. Two $900 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who have participated in ROTC and have excelled academically. Financial need is a consideration as well as demonstrated patriotism. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a senior whose athletic prowess has been limited for the most part to junior varsity teams. Sportsmanship, citizenship, scholarship and financial need are considered, and the recipient must attend an institution of higher learning on a full-time basis. This $500 or greater scholarship may be awarded to a student with a B or higher GPA. The student must be a son, daughter, grandchild, great-grandchild, sister or brother of a Veteran. The student must provide the name of said Veteran and the branch of military service he or she was enlisted in and how the military has effected their lives. (RCSF web pages 28 through 34). 7 Cindy Andrews Educational This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has been a CSF member for at least 4 semesters and who plans to be a teacher and eventually an administrator in the public school system. 8 Frank G. Araujo Memorial One $500 scholarship may be awarded to students of Mexican-American descent. The recipient must have a 3.0 or higher GPA, demonstrate good citizenship, and participate in school or community activities. Page 1/15

2 9 Connie "Chelo" Armendariz Memorial This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior planning to continue his/her education at a vocational school, junior college, or university. Preference shall be given to a student who attended the former Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Redlands. Applicants must indicate the years they attended this church. Applicants should include the information required by this scholarship using the specific essay listed on the Directory Page. Academy Award 13 Beaver Medical Clinic Foundation - Premedical Award 14 Raymond and Donald Beeler Memorial 15 David Beltran Memorial This $1000 scholarship may be awarded by the Professional Women of Redlands,a committee of the Assistance League of Redlands, to a graduating young woman who possesses a minimum 2.5 GPA, has participated in at least one school activity, and has demonstrated some type of community service. Financial need is also a consideration. The recipient must be planning to attend a two-year degree or certification program or four-year college. Preference will be given to a student who will be the first in her family to obtain a college degree or professional certification program. A short essay must be attached on the topic, Describe an adversity you have faced and overcome and how this has helped motivate ou to continue your education. Also, include a description of your participation in school activities and community service, evidence of financial need and why you want to continue your education. This $750 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is attending Redlands High School and is seeking a career in the field of medicine. The student must be outstanding academically, in leadership skills, and in sports participation, ensuring success in his or her planned career. This $750 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is attending Redlands High School and is seeking a career in the field of medicine. The student must have participated in the HEART Academy program for three years. This $2,500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is seeking a career in the field of medicine. The student must be outstanding both academically and in leadership skills, ensuring success in his or her planned career. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a student with at least a 3.0 GPA. Financial need is a consideration. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who will attend a community or a four-year college on a full-time basis. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a college-bound graduating senior, including local junior colleges, who plans to major in drama, theater arts or thespian studies. Page 2/15

Smith Memorial 21 Quincy Brown Memorial 22 Bryn Mawr Elementary School PTA 23 Nicholas C. Carter Memorial This $1000 scholarship may be awarded to one varsity football offensive lineman with a minimum 2.0 GPA that has been a starter for at least one year and has exhibited good citizenship, volunteerism and dedication who exhibits the same qualities exhibited by Greg Horton, especially his big heart. This $1000 scholarship may be awarded to a three-year participant of the Redlands High School sports program and has been a starter for at least one year and has exhibited good citizenship, volunteerism and dedication. The student must have maintained at least a 2.0 GPA. Several $500 or greater scholarships may be awarded to students who show academic excellence as well as a financial need. The students must also be college-bound graduating seniors who will be attending school on a full-time basis. Two $500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors with a minimum 2.0 GPA who plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational program. Continued involvement in scouting and community service will be considered. Preference will be given to individuals who have attained the rank of Eagle Scout. This $500 or greater scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who will enroll as a full-time student in a four-year college or university pursuing a business or teaching career. The student must have a 3.0 or higher GPA and have attended a Redlands Unified School District school for three consecutive years. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a student who attended Bryn Mawr Elementary School for at least two years. The student must have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA, have good citizenship, demonstrated community service, and have a desire to help others. The scholarship may be used at any college or trade school. Academic standing and financial need are also taken into consideration. This $1000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating male senior who has lettered in junior varsity or varsity soccer. Preference will be given to students who share Nicholas Carter's passion for soccer, culinary arts and/or military service. Applicants should present a 1 or 2 page essay demonstrating the impact that one of these interests has had in their life. The essay is intended to shed light upon the student's passion rather than provide a proficiency in writing. Students may feel free to include humor, recount personal events or find other creative ways to let their personality be the focus of the essay. 4 24 The CASC Engineering Three $500 scholarships may be awarded to outstanding graduating seniors who intend to pursue a degree in Engineering at a four-year college or university. Students pursuing any Engineering degree are eligible; preference will be given to qualified students entering a program in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate an interest in an Engineering career and be involved in community service and/or extracurricular activities. 25 Clement Middle School PTA 26 Contemporary Club 27 Cope Middle School PTSA 28 Cram Elementary School PTA 29 Arthur H. Daniels Memorial 30 Pat Dermargosian Memorial 31 Jon and Laura Fenster CPAs Family 32 Arthur and Juna Fisher Memorial Track This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who attended and was involved in school activities at Clement Middle School. This $1000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who will continue to further his or her education in a career of his or her choice. These $400 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who attended Cope Middle School for a minimum of two years. Citizenship and a desire to continue his/her education after high school are also a requirement. Priority will be given to a student whose parents were PTA volunteers. Two $300 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who attended Cram Elementary School for at least two years and have a 3.0 GPA or better. One scholarship is for a student going to a four-year college and another scholarship is for a student going to a two-year college. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior for citizenship, academic accomplishment, contribution to school and community, and future career plans. The student should be college-bound who plans to attend on a full-time basis. This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior whose parent has been actively involved in the PTA. Write a one page essay to the following prompt: Describe how your parent's involvement in the PTA has impacted your education. Please name the positions your parent has held. PLEASE NOTE APPLICATIONS WITHOUT DONOR SPECIFIC ESSAY TO ABOVE PROMPT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR SELECTION. Preference will be given to a student majoring in accounting. The student must have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Financial need is a significant consideration. Garn Haycock Memorial This $1200 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has shown perseverance, compassion and friendship even in times of great person struggle. It honors Andrew Garcia's struggle and embodies the spirit of future hopes and dreams. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a student graduating through the Redlands Independent Study Education (R.I.S.E.) program from RHS, REV, CVHS, or OHS. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has a 3.0 GPA or higher and plans to attend a college, university, or vocational school on a full-time basis. This $1000 scholarship may be awarded to a student who has captained a varsity team, has a 3.75 GPA or higher and has a love of history as demonstrated by passing an AP history exam. Brian Glassco was a 1999 graduate of Redlands High School. The criteria of this scholarship exemplifies his love of sports, history and academic achievement. Several $500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who will attend a four-year college or university on a full-time basis. They must have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA, shown good citizenship and participated in school and community activities. This scholarship may be awarded to a student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 with plans to attend a 2 year or 4 year college and plans to major in business or accounting. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior continuing his or her college learning in the field of education. Financial need is a consideration. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has maintained at least a 3.5 GPA, shown leadership in school activities, plans to attend a four year college or university on a full time basis, and has attended Redlands area schools for three years or more. This scholarship is awarded in memory of William T. Hartzell, a community leader and lifetime resident of Redlands. This $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a deserving senior who displays good citizenship, character, academic potential, has a need for financial assistance, and will attend an institution of higher learning on a full-time basis. 6 43 Hurlbert Family This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and is active in sports, student government and service groups such as church, scouts or community service. An essay outlining the student's activities and plans for continuing education, career and how this scholarship will advance their plans must be included. Kassner Natural Sciences 47 Annette and Ernest Keith Memorial 48 Dennis Kennedy Boys Cross Country Memorial 49 Kimberly Elementary School PTA 50 Kingsbury Elementary School PTA This $1,500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has maintained a 3.0 or higher GPA, has participated on the speech or debate team for at least two years (one of which must be the senior year), and plans to attend a four-year college or university on a full-time basis. Additional consideration will be given to a student who demonstrates a variety of interests and performs service to school and community. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a senior male who has participated in baseball or soccer, has a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and will attend an institution of higher learning on a full-time basis. First preference is given to a student who plans to major in criminal justice or criminal law. The recipient should demonstrate a love of his family, be a strong but quiet role model, be respected by his peers, and be goal-oriented in his tasks. This $2000 scholarship may be given to a graduating senior who has a minimum GPA of 3.25 and has demonstrated a strong commitment to the study of natural science. The recipient of this scholarship intends to major in natural sciences in college. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is in the top ten percent (10%) of his or her class and will be attending a four-year California college or university on a full-time basis. This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a male student with a 3.0 GPA or above and who has competed in the Cross Country program for at least two years with one being as a varsity member. This scholarship honors a student who is determined to improve himself yet also demonstrates concern and encouragement for his teammates. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who attended Kimberly Elementary School for a minimum of three years, is an average or above-average achiever, demonstrates good citizenship, and preferably has not received other scholarships. This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a student who attended Kingsbury Elementary School for at least three years, has a minimum of a C average, and has demonstrated good citizenship and leadership. The student must show financial need. Involvement in extracurricular and community activities must be demonstrated. Page 6/15

7 51 Kiwanis Club of Redlands Foundation Academic Excellence This $6000 scholarship may be awarded to a student with the following qualifications: an outstanding GPA upon graduation from high school, outstanding citizenship and extracurricular activity involvement with demonstrated leadership ability. The recipient will be selected through an interview processes conducted by the Kiwanis Club Foundation scholarship committee. This scholarship will be awarded over a 4-year period to a student planning on attending either a 4-year college or university or a 2-year college taking transfer curriculum. This scholarship will be paid over a four year period directly to the recipient's college or technical school or directly to the recipient upon written request to the Kiwanis Foundation, including a copy of the student's current class schedule and a copy of a valid college student ID.A completed signed student contact information card must be submitted to the Kiwanis Club of Redlands Foundation before the disbursement of scholarship funds will be authorized. 52 Kiwanis Club of Redlands Foundation Career-College 53 Kiwanis Club of Redlands Foundation Community Service Academic 54 Kiwanis Club of Redlands Foundation-Martin and Dorothy Munz This $3,000 scholarship may be awarded to support a student at the post-secondary level in order to promote a skilled technical workforce. The criteria are a 2.5 GPA or better, a demonstrated interest and aptitude in a technical area, involvement in community service and/or extracurricular activities enrollment in a program of study that results in a two-year or four-year degree. This scholarship will be paid over a two year period directly to the recipient's college or technical school or directly to the recipient upon written request to the Kiwanis Foundation, including a copy of the student's current class schedule and a copy of a valid college student ID. A completed signed student contact information card must be submitted to the Kiwanis Club of Redlands Foundation prior to the disbursement of scholarship funds. Two $4,000 scholarships may be awarded to students with the following qualifications: extracurricular activity involvement with demonstrated leadership ability, a high level of community service, outstanding citizenship, and a high GPA upon graduation from high school. The recipients will be selected through an interviewing process conducted by the Kiwanis Club of Redlands Foundation committee. This scholarship will be awarded over a 4-year period to a student planning on attending either a 4-year college or university or a 2-year college taking transfer curriculum. A completed signed student contact information card must be submitted to the Kiwanis Club of Redlands Foundation before the disbursement of scholarship funds will be authorized. This $1,500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who meets the following criteria: has a 3.0 GPA in all subjects, has an interest in or aptitude for education or a business career, has been involved in community service such as scouting, church, etc., has been involved in extracurricular school activities, is highly motivated to obtain a four-year college degree, and demonstrates a financial need. The recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and attended a RUSD High School for three consecutive years. 56 Henry Llamas Memorial 57 Chris Long Memorial 58 Lugonia Alumni/Harrison Lightfoot 59 Macy Family Award for Persistent Effort 60 Mariposa Elementary School PTA 61 Maximum Turbine Support 62 McKinley Elementary School PTA 63 Dorothy Mitchell Memorial 64 Moore Middle School PTA This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a student involved in cross-country and/or track who has a 3.0 or great GPA and who plans to attend a two-year or four-year college or university on a full-time basis. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior with plans to attend either a community college or 4-year college with plans to study and have a career in the media arts,preferably audio or video production. Several $1500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors who attended Lugonia Elementary School. The students must have extensive community service and/or be involved in school activities, demonstrate good citizenship, and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The scholarship may be used at any college, university, or vocational school. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to recognize a student who has persistently put forth great effort to achieve academically. GPA or financial need is not a consideration for this award. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who attended Mariposa Elementary School for at least three years. The recipient must be pursuing education at a two or four-year university and show academic excellence with a minimum 3.0 GPA as well as community service. Preference will be given to those who meet the criteria and demonstrate financial need. This $1000 scholarship may be awarded to a student with a 2.5 GPA or higher and is planning on attending a trade school or 2-year college with an interest in a career as a mechanic, welder, plumber, electrician, fireman or nurse. This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who attended McKinley Elementary School for at least three years and plans to attend a college, university, or vocational school. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who plans to enter the teaching profession. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who attended Moore Middle School for three years and plans to attend college or a trade school. Page 8/15

9 65 Robert L. Morlan Redlands Area Interfaith Council This $400 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior. The scholarship was created from the long history of promoting love and respect among all of the people of faith in our community. The student must provide a one-page essay using the following prompt: How I Can Be an Agent of Peace. Nowak Memorial 72 Optimist Club of Redlands - Virgina Elliott 73 Optimist Club of Redlands - Ralph Maloof This $1000 scholarship may be awarded in memory of Harry Muñoz, a Redlands High School graduate of the Class of Mr. Munoz lettered in four major sports and was a lifetime resident of Redlands and an active member of the community. This scholarship may be given to a deserving graduate who has demonstrated academic achievement, outstanding citizenship, and a desire to continue his/her education. This $500 scholarship may be awarded in memory of Rick Munoz. The recipient must have lettered in at least one sport in his or her senior year, as well as demonstrated high academic achievement, outstanding citizenship, and a desire to continue his or her education. This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is outstanding in the field of math or science. The recipient will be selected based on grades and achievement test scores in chemistry, physics and or math. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is a member of the Redlands High School Terrier football team. The recipient must demonstrate academic achievement and good citizenship. Preference will be given to a high academic achiever. Preference will also be given to an offensive or defensive lineman. All players, starters or non-starters will be considered. These $500 scholarships may be awarded by the Northside Booster Club to encourage athletes to maintain a good academic average. The scholarships may be awarded to a graduating male and female who have maintained at least a 2.5 GPA and participated in at least one sport. This $1000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who is pursuing a degree in engineering. Student must have a 3.5 GPA and financial need will be a consideration. This $2,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior girl who has a minimum 3.0 GPA, a positive attitude, and involvement in service to the community. This $2,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior boy who has a minimum 3.0 GPA, a positive attitude, and involvement in service to the community. Page 9/15

Lehnhof Memorial Architectural 75 James Halsey Pearce Memorial 76 Marshall Phelps Athletic Memorial This $1000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who will be majoring in architecture or architectural engineering at an accredited college or university. It is awarded in memory of Steven J. Lehnhof, an architecture and drafting teacher at Redlands High School for many years. This $300 scholarship may be awarded to a special education student continuing on to college. The recipient must have special needs in high school. A short statement explaining the special circumstances of the recipient must be attached. Applicants should include the information required by this scholarship using the specific essay listed on the Directory Page. (RCSF web pages 28 through 34). This $1000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating male or female with proven athletic ability and interest in a career involving some phase of athletics, such as sports medicine, coaching, or physical therapy. Community service and leadership qualities are desirable but not essential. Student must plan to enroll in a two-year or four-year college program and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Selection will be based upon high school counselors' recommendations. 77 Erick D. Potter Memorial This $1500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior with a 3.0 or greater GPA who intends to pursue a career in Engineering. Special consideration will be given to applicants involved in non-school service groups such as church or community service. 78 W and M Price This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a student with at least a 3.0 GPA and is the first in their immediate family to attend college. 79 Ronald A. Radut 80 Redlands Administrative Personnel Association 81 Redlands Baseball/Softball for Youth Three $500 scholarship may be awarded to graduating seniors who have a minimum 2.5 GPA or higher. Students must have attended Victoria Elementary School for at least two years. and financial need will be considered. Please attach a one page essay using the prompt "What would you do if you won $100,000". Applicants should include this information using one of the specific essays (RCSF web pages 28 through 34) These $500 or more scholarships may be awarded to the sons and daughters of members of RAPA. A screening committee composed of RAPA members will meet to determine the most deserving applicant, based on an objective scoring system. This $350 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has participated in the Redlands Baseball/Softball for Youth program, including scorekeepers or umpires, for a minimum of three years. The student must have exemplified good sportsmanship and academic achievement. Please include a 200 word essay entitled How Redlands Baseball/Softball for Youth Has Impacted My Life. Indicate how many years and in what capacity you participated, i.e.: Player, Umpire, Scorekeeper. The recipient must be an active Redlands Community Hospital junior volunteer and must complete a minimum of 100 hours of volunteer service by the end of the school year. 83 Redlands Community Foundation - Honoring Ed Gleitsman Award 84 Redlands Community Foundation Awards 85 Redlands Council PTA - Dorathy Jolley Memorial 86 Redlands Education Support Professionals Association 87 Redlands Evening Lions Club - Barbara Westen Memorial 88 Redlands High School Academic Decathlon 89 Redlands High School Aquatics Booster Club 90 Redlands High School Mock Trial This $500 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior to assist in his or her pursuit of higher education in a business field. These $500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors to assist in their pursuit of higher education. This $400 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and is active in a non-school service group such as church, scouts, or a community service club. This $1000 or greater scholarship may be awarded to the most deserving student within the Redlands Unified School District. The student must have a 2.5 or higher GPA, be the son or daughter of a RESPA member, and wish to attend an institution of higher learning. The student must present an essay in 100 words or less using the following prompt: What Education Means to Me. This $2000 scholarship may be awarded to a student with a minimum 3.75 GPA who exhibits outstanding academic, citizenship and community service with plans on pursuing a degree in medicine. This $4,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior who has shown the highest in academic achievements, outstanding citizenship, and service to school and community. The recipient will be selected through an interview process conducted by the Redlands Rotary Club scholarship committee. This $1500 may be awarded to a student with at least a 3.75 GPA with outstanding academic, citizenship and community service who plans to have a career in the dental arts (dentist or hygienist). Preference will be given to a student planning on pursuing a music major in college. Two $500 scholarships may be awarded to graduating seniors in the upper one-half of the senior class who attended Smiley Elementary School and are a well-rounded student. Financial need will also be a consideration. This $500 scholarship may be awarded to an outstanding female senior who has participated in community service and will be attending an accredited 4-year college or university, community college, or trade school on a full-time or part-time basis.
