3 MICPA-CAANZ Graduates Recognised The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) celebrated their candidates and graduates at the recent Excellence Awards 2016/2017 event held on November 2, These high-achieving individuals deserved every accolade given for either obtaining top scores in various modules, or for successfully completing the MICPA-CAANZ Programme a joint professional accounting Programme that provides its graduates with a dual qualification from two very prestigious bodies from Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. Proud parents, employers and friends were amongst those present to show their support for all 157 individuals who were recognised for their achievements that night. MICPA Past President, Dato Larry Seow was invited as the Guest of Honour for the evening to present the coveted gold medals and awards to prize winners. The MICPA-CAANZ Programme celebrated 82 graduates who had completed the exams in Term 2, 2016, Term 1, 2017 and Term 2, 2017 respectively, and were presented with their examination certificates by Dato Richard Abas, Councillor, Asia of CAANZ. A total of 4 Gold Medals were presented to candidates who had obtained high distinctions in the 2016 examinations (Term 2 and Term 3) and Term 1, 2017 examination. The winners were as follows: MICPA-CAANZ Programme Term 2, 2016 Examination Ms Jeanne Ke Ting Datuk Oh Chong Peng Gold Medal for Financial Accounting & Reporting Mr Ooi Ken Lin Folks DFK & Co/Azman Wong Salleh & Co Gold Medal for Management Accounting & Applied Finance Term 1, 2017 Examination Mr Ng Zhang Wei Datuk Oh Chong Peng Gold Medal for Financial Accounting & Reporting Ms Teoh Hwee Chee Folks DFK & Co/Azman Wong Salleh & Co Gold Medal for Management Accounting & Applied Finance The highlight of the night was the Excellence Award for The Most Outstanding CPA Student This award is bestowed on the best all-round CPA student who recently completed the MICPA-CAANZ professional examinations. The Award for 2016 was won by Ms Sangeetha Selladurai who is currently working with PwC Malaysia. Sangeetha enrolled as a candidate of the joint MICPA-CAANZ Programme in November 2014 and passed all 5 modules within 2 years. She will be obtaining her MICPA membership very soon.

4 MICPA also presents awards to top accounting graduates from accredited universities in Malaysia offering the Bachelor of Accountancy qualification. This category entitled The Excellence Awards for Best Accounting Graduates 2016 had the following winners: Curtin University Sarawak Chai Su Ling International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Ameer Hussein bin Abdul Aziz Taylor s University Lam Jo Yee Universiti Malaya (UM) Ng Eng Leng Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Suryakali a/p Kalithas Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) Saidatul Aniyah binti Annuar Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Tai Wooi Kien Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Tay Sue Xian Victoria University Yap Yen Lee Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Yeoh Zhi Yee The evening ended with many happy and proud supporters celebrating these individuals who have worked hard to attain success, not just academically but as a professional accountant with a bright career path ahead of them.
