1 KLIFD SIGNATURE TOWER INTERNATIONAL DESIGN COMPETITION REPLIES TO QUERIES QUERY QUESTION RESPONSE 1 We are very interested to participate in the international competitions of design a signature tower Kuala Lumpur and would like to know the procedure to participate the competition 2 We were recently forwarded the pdf of your International Design Competition Signature Tower. We notice that the date for registration has already passed. Are you still accepting registrants? 3 We would like to know, more about the project, conditions and how we can get the terms of the tender, and the documents we have to send to be considered. 4 I am forwarding the again to you requesting for information on registration for the design competition of the signature tower in KL. Could you kindly forward the details asap We have designed an iconic tower in Sri Lanka depicting sri lankan Identity and preparing to construct same. 5 In order to pay the registration fee by direct deposit we will require the Beneficiary address details, the Bank address details or SWIFT code, and a Sort code. Alternatively, is it possible to pay by credit card. Please advise details. 6 I ve just been told we have to send you the equivalent of 300 Malaysia Ringgits or 100 USD, in order to participate to a competition for the signature tower. We look forward to your response. 15 I would like to take part in the PAM + UIA + 1mdb International Design Competition For Klifd Signature Tower Project, Malaysia. In order to send an amount RM300 I need the following data: - Bank Name, - Bank Address, - Name and address of Beneficiary, - Bank account number, - SWIFT CODE. Could you please send me this information. 16 For the registration it is required to pay 300 RM to PAM, however the bank account information is not sufficient in order to guarantee a 100% safe payment to the correct account. Could you please communicate the appropriate information (IBAN), the optimum wording for the payment designation (payment purpose)? There are always payment charges/taxes due with every international money transfer; since we do not know the Malaysian charges we have in our payment taken upon us the inland charges of our home country (Austria) but could not take into account unknown local charges. 4 We do not understand point 10 (ii): International Architects who are Corporate Member (or equivalent) of their respective Professional Body or Architectural Firms registered with their respective Regulatory Body as of 1 January 2012 in collaboration with PAM Corporate Members or Professional Architects or Architectural Firms registered with LAM. 22 Can we candidate as a foreign office for the design competition without being associated with a local Malaysian architectural office? Paragraph 10.0 Eligibility (a) (ii) is not completely clear for us at that point. 23 We are interested in participating in this International Design Competition in association with a local firm in Malaysia in order to form a collaborated team. Collaboration with a Malaysian architect is necessary and the organisers will consider the Malaysian architect as the main registrant. 24 I am a young architect, my graduation project was a design of a tower, so I have studied towers deeply. I have also participated in some international competitions. I would like to know if I have the possibility to participate to this competition, knowing that I have a great fascination with the towers 25 I am currently looking for a recommendation for a suitable practice, preferably KL based, to collaborate with on the Signature Tower competition you have recently posted in your web-site. We are an internationally recognised practice and has a good pedigree in tall buildings we recently completed a building in China and won awards in Asia and Australasia. We are currently finishing a project in Singapore and have a team based on site. 26 Can I double check with the company profile document you state that it has to be in a size not larger than A3 in landscape format does this mean that the document should be in a landscape format? Or can I submit in a portrait format, just as long as it is smaller than A3 sized? Standard Reply SR3 Not necessary. You can submit in 'portrait' or landscape format as long as the size of the document is A3 size or smaller. 27 Can we submit the bound copies of our Company Profile in A4 size (portrait)? 5 28 Can we provide a list of similar related past and current projects in A4 size (portrait)? 29 Can we give details and land mark projects in the form of A4 size (portrait) Project Sheets? 30 Can we submit the bound copies of our Company Profile in A4 size (portrait)? 31 Do we need to give our team organization comprising of architects only or should we give the details of our engineering design team as well? 32 For the pre-qualification Stage 1 submission, should only the architect submit pre-qualification documents as stipulated in Clause 16.0 of the Competition Brief or should the architect also propose and therefore submit his team of engineers and other technical specialists? 33 Is it needed to submit, together with the company profile, the Certificates for the Prizes and Awards that are listed? and if so, should these Certificates be attached as original docs or can we included as scans in the bound copies? on the other hand most of these Certificates will be originally in Spanish. Do we need to translate it to in English and if so should that translation be a legalized translation or is it enough with a common translation with no legal signatures in it? 34 According to article 11.0 (c) of the competition rules, it is specified that "only one (1) entry per participant, organization or team is allowed" 1. we understand that the leading architectural firm of a team is not allowed to submit several entries 2. question: we would like to be sure that our office (consultant but not a team leader) is allowed to join several teams for submitting to this competition ; please could you confirm? For this prequalification procedure we consider teaming with a firm that is already in a different design team with a different architect. Is there a condition of exclusivity with this procedure, meaning that we would be disqualified when one team member is in several applicant teams? Standard Reply SR4 Team organization must be led by architect. Collaboration with a Malaysian architect is necessary and the organisers will consider the Malaysian architect as the main registrant. Details of engineering design team and other specialist are optional. Only copies of professional license and certificates of awards are necessary. 6 2. In particular we consider teaming with either of two large engineering groups who are involved in the preparation of the KLIFD masterplan. Are such companies excluded from taking part in the Signature Tower design competition? Standard Reply SR6 2. The current Consulting Teams are not eligible to participate, or assist a competitor as per Article 10.0 (d). 36 For Stage 1 only, can a Malaysian Architect/ firm submit their own entry and also be a secondary part of another team led by an International Architect/firm and with their consent? In the letter, the role of the Malaysian Architect or firm is solely as a local supporting associate with minimal or no design input at Stage I am writing to enquire if licensed architects outside of Malaysia are qualified to compete. I am a Registered Architect with the State of Arizona. Further, I have in my employ a Denmark Registered Architect, and a Netherlands Registered Architect. 38 We are an engineering firm from the UK and have been invited to support a bid by providing C&S and MEP engineering services to an international Architect who is intending to enter the Design Competition for the Signature Tower at KLIFD. We understand that the competition rules exclude members of the current Masterplan Consultant Team entering or supporting entrants for the Signature Tower Competition and our sister company in the US is part of the Masterplan team, working with the urban planners. Please would you confirm if we would therefore be eligible to support an Architectural team for the Signature Tower Competition. 7 further develop them as a means of selecting the team to be commissioned " Can you please expand on your plans and methods to select an eventual winner from the 5 shortlisted parties? Can you confirm when a single firm will be commissioned for the proposed development? 44 Given the potential overseas travel requirements (especially during stage 2), can expenses such as flights and hotels be reimbursable? 45 The company does not have a PAM Corporate Membership number; instead we are registered with individual PAM registration numbers. Due to this, would we write the individual registration numbers instead of PAM Corporate Membership number where it applies? 46 Can an International Architect / firm as the lead consultant be allowed to change their supporting local associates at Stage 2? 47 Could you please send us scanned invoice of registration fee at first? As per bank policy in China, we can only pay the fee outside China with either contract or copy of invoice No reimbursable for this. All payments for the duration of the competition are as stated.
