Government of India has included KMC as a core intervention for the care of Low Birth Weight Infants and has initiated KMC promotion in the country. KMC promotion has started all over the country but till we have to improve alot. The impact will be appreciated only when KMC is practiced very widely and with proper quality. With the noble objective of the promotion of KMC in India, Kangaroo Mother Care Foundation (KMCF), a non- profit voluntary service organization, jointly with Lucknow Neonatology Foundation, has decided to organize this conference at Lucknow. This effort is part of multiple other activities of KMCF to accelerate KMC including breast milk feeding and regular follow up and other relevant aspects of newborn care in the country by *Increasing awareness, *conducting a large number of training courses, *improving the quality of KMC practice and *promoting research studies relevant to our needs. Pre conference workshops 1) A Certificate Training Course for Master Trainers of KMC for two days (11 th & 12 th May 2018) Only 40 participants Senior policy makers, faculty members, consultants and nurses with some experience of KMC and those interested in conducting /participating in KMC training programs are requested to attend this course. 2) A Basic Course for Providers of KMC for one day (12 th May 2018) Only 50 participants. Doctors and nurses from private practice are specially requested to attend this course 3) A Special Course for the trainers of Community Health Workers for improving the quality of Home Based Kangaroo Mother Care (HBKMC) for One day (12 th May 2018) Only 40 participants Trainers of ASHA workers, ANMs, AWWs and link workers/ volunteers from

3 Voluntary service organizations/ NGOs working in remote areas are requested to attend this special course Main conference on 13 th May 2018 Theme: Widen the Horizon of Kangaroo Mother Care in India The program will include the following: ( Final Programme will be announced soon) Inaugural session Plenary session on the theme of the conference (Senior Officials from central and state health ministries and International organizations promoting KMC will be joining in this session) A scientific symposium covering the latest research and developments in KMC (Reputed International researchers and the champions of KMC will also be joining in this session) A session for the oral presentation of short papers on recent studies and experiences related to KMC A poster session of scientific papers A panel discussion on Challenges for the promotion of KMC in India and possible solutions An exhibition on Innovations and accessories for improving the quality of KMC and general information A public meeting for KMC awareness Guidelines for submission of the abstracts of papers for oral/poster presentations: Free papers related to studies or experiences related to KMC in recent years are invited for presentation during the conference. Because of time constraint, only six papers will be selected for oral presentation. Remaining papers will be selected for the poster presentations. The decisions by the selection committee will be final. Doctors and nurses and KMC champions from other groups can also submit papers for the conference. An abstract (typed or written only on one side of the paper) of the paper not exceeding 300 words should be sent to KMC Foundation office at Karamsad by post or (MS Word PDF format) to reach before 20th April 2018 The selection of papers will be informed by 27th April 2018 by e mail and will be also put on the website of Kangaroo Mother Care Foundation. org The papers selected for oral presentation must be submitted in full, before 1st May 2018 for inclusion in Conference Brochure One prize each will be given to the best paper by nurses and doctors for oral presentation as well as posters. * The author of the paper selected for oral/poster presentation must be registered for the conference. The decision by the judges will be final. This is the special attempt to invite papers related exclusively to KMC in India. Refund will be processed in 30 days after completion of the conference Guidelines for Registration: The registration for the conference is obligatory for those attending the course for master trainers. For the participants of other two workshops, registration for the conference is optional. Independent registrations can be done for the conference and the workshop. Only workshop registration will not entitle, participation in conference and vice versa. Children above the age of five years should be registered for the conference as accompanying members.
