2 Introduction A complete and accurate pathology report is crucial to getting a precise diagnosis and deciding on the best treatment plan for the cancer patient. Different pathology labs may use different terms to describe the same information. Cancer Protocol Templates provide guidelines for collecting the essential data elements for complete reporting of malignant tumors and optimal patient care. The pathologist determines the precise type and stage of the cancer and may also work with other members of the team to recommend a treatment strategy that could include observation, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or a combination of these approaches. The CAP cancer protocols are tools used to assist the pathologists in providing clinically useful and relevant information when reporting surgical specimen examinations of surgical specimens. How an institution implements this is really at the discretion of that institution, as long as it meets the requirements identified for synoptic reporting. It is recommended that format development for the surgical pathology report for cancer specimens at individual institutions or healthcare systems occurs as a multidisciplinary or organizational process. This is why we have invited faculty from leading International & National Centres of Excellence to share their best practices. This opportunity & interaction will help the delegates in standardizing Histopathology Onco Reports in their respective centres thus positively impacting cancer patient care in India.
