2 Who is the TSRC The Texas Society for Respiratory Care (TSRC) is Texas chartered affiliate of the American Association for Respiratory Care. It is a membership based, not-for-profit, professional society of over 2000 practicing respiratory therapists', educators' and students'. The focus of the TSRC is to offer current, applicable, and high quality continung education as well as to politically advocate for all respiratory care practitioners' (RCPs) in Texas. Members of the society work in hospitals, clinics, DME offices, home health, hospice and other health care and professional settings. Respiratory Care Practitioners care for patients from birth to the end of life. The TSRC Board of Directors are nomintaed from and elected by members of the society. Each director is a nonpaid volunteer serving a two year term. In 2014, after the retirement of the TSRC office manager, the Board of Directors chose to not fill the vacant position, but divide the responsibilities among themselves. The decision proved to be a positive financial and operational move. Having the additional funds was instrumental in saving our state license! The funds allowed board members to make required countless trips to the state Capital to: educate legislators on our scope of practice; testify for and against multiple bills to both house and senate committees; and lobby for the protection of those most vulnerable, the patients. Operationally, the directors are more informed and involved in all areas of the operation of the society. There are more positive changes coming too. The TSRC Website will be transformed, along with much more. We hope you take advantage of all the TSRC has done and will continue to do for you as RCPs' by becoming a TSRC member.

3 Premiere Conference for Respiratory Care Practitioners in Texas The TSRC State Convention and Exhibition is a 3-day event offering continuing education for the largest gathering of RCPs' in the state. This year's meeting will be composed of educational sessions in the following areas: Education, Pulmonary Function Testing, Adult Care, and Neonatal/Pediatric Care for a total of 15 CRCE s. Attendees from all disciplines of respiratory therapy will be supported by the diversity of the presentations. New this year will be the addition of a student enrichment workshop, as well as a management enrichment workshop. The focus of these new programs is to bring new ideas and updates to those coming into the field and leading our departments. Aside from the formal educational opportunities in the lecture halls, this year s conference will once again feature 3 hours of dedicated exhibitor time where companies will showcase their products and services. During this dedicated time, the attendees can earn additional TSRC continuing education credits by sitting in on the Exhibitor Showcase Presentations. Each day, there will be up to 12 industrial representatives sharing indepth information about their products and services in 30 time slots. This brings the total available continuing education credits for the 3 day convetnion to 21! Oh, one more thing, there will tons of giveaway items in the form of door prizes and raffel items!
