One outstanding area is the support and delivery of promotional material received from the team. The efficiency, design and attention to detail in all the posters, leaflets, hand-outs and presentations has been superb. 9 All individuals planning travel should seek advice on the potential hazards in their chosen destinations and understand how best to protect their health and minimise the risk of acquiring disease. Forward planning, appropriate preventive measures and careful precautions can protect their health and minimise the risks of accident and of acquiring disease. Source: World Health Organisation (WHO) TRAVEL HEALTH ADVICE AND VACCINATIONS MCL Medics Occupational Health Services provide a comprehensive travel health advice and vaccination service. Our Occupational Health Nurse will complete a pre-travel health consultation specifically designed to prepare individuals for international travel. Our Occupational Health Nurses have expert knowledge of relative risks in particular worldwide destinations. At the consultation they will: Assess overall medical health and discuss any current medications Highlight any diseases that the traveller may be exposed to on their planned trip Discuss any potential health implications Recommend vaccinations and outline any possible sideeffects While immunisations represent an important part of the travel consultation, our expert travel health advice also includes disease prevention, inclusive of Malaria and Yellow Fever, practical steps to be taken to reduce the risk of infectious diseases, medical supplies and chemoprophylaxis (anti-malarials). Our tailored programme ensures that maximum protection is achieved prior to travel. Individuals are given a vaccine record card which will detail the vaccinations given and a schedule for subsequent vaccines and boosters. MCL Medics is a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre (YFVC) and we can issue an International Certification of Vaccination to anyone travelling to a country at risk of Yellow Fever that requires certification for entry.

10 DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING MCL Medics provide us with excellent customer service. The Occupational Health Team always deliver the services we need exactly when we need them. Scott Stephen General Manager, Euro NDT Limited MCL Medics Occupational Health Services carry out random and with cause drug and alcohol screening, on-site in any location, in line with our clients substance abuse policy. Our drug and alcohol screening services are available 24/7, 365 days a year to provide complete cover. The testing process for urine and saliva is usually a two stage process. Firstly, an instant test is performed to identify evidence of drugs within the body. If the test is negative and no evidence is discovered then no further action is taken. If the test is nonnegative and evidence of drugs is discovered the sample is returned to a UKAS approved laboratory for confirmation testing, following full Chain of Custody procedures. Laboratory testing will provide a clear positive or negative confirmation and an accurate quantity of the drug present. Our Technicians are trained and certified to administer alcohol and drug testing in an appropriate manner. All testing undertaken is carried out to industry recognised cut-off level guidelines. Our processes ensure a service that is legally compliant with industry requirements.
