1 Health and Wellbeing Programs for the Workplace (BCH) has a range of highly skilled health professionals available to deliver education sessions, programs and information at your workplace to enable you to maximize the health and wellbeing of your staff. Please see below an outline of the programs and information that BCH can provide. Health Checks Express check General Health check 10 minute health check that includes: Blood pressure check Diabetes risk assessment questionnaire Waist circumference measurement 20 minute health check including: Instant non-fasting blood glucose and cholesterol test Blood pressure check Waist circumference measurement Review of lifestyle behaviours and risks Flu Vaccinations Influenza vaccinations on-site at your workplace. A minimum of 10 staff are required General health checks include a review of diet, physical activity, respiratory health, smoking and alcohol consumption, immunisation status, men s and women s health. A referral document may be provided upon request for a General Practitioner or to the LIFE Program (Pre-Diabetes Program).
2 Health & Wellbeing Presentations Quit Smoking 1hr group information session on how to quit smoking. Points of discussion include understanding nicotine dependence, health impacts from smoking, methods of quitting and where to get help and support. Mental Wellbeing 1hr session for employees on various mental health and wellbeing topics. Sessions may include topics such as increasing resilience, stress management, relaxation techniques etc. (up to 15 staff). Alcohol and Other Drugs The alcohol and other drugs presentation includes information on drug screening, understanding the effects of alcohol and other drugs and a guide to safer drinking behaviour. Physical Activity General information session to assist your staff to increase their activity levels and general fitness. Includes tips on getting started, goal setting, staying motivated and how to sustain progress. Healthy Eating The healthy eating session includes a discussion on portion sizes, reading food labels, how to increase fruit and vegetable intake and advice on healthy choices. 3 Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Employee Assistance Program Access to independent and confidential phone or faceto-face counselling for employees and immediate family Support for a wide range of both work-related and personal issues for employees Critical incident response or emergency crisis First 3 sessions covered in monthly rate Annual usage report Choice of 6 of the EAP modules (listed below) Employee Assistance Program Specialised Modules Stress Management & Resilience Effective Communication & Assertiveness Training Family Violence Prevention & Interventions Relationship difficulties Workplace issues i.e. retirement, retrenchment, bullying, gender issues Anxiety, stress and depression Dealing with difficult people Addictive behaviours Mental health in the workplace Cultural Awareness & Diversity Grief & Loss Work Life Balance On-going Assistance Private sessions after initial 3 sessions Referral network / services to assist individuals The Employee Assistance Program has been developed to help your employees with personal and workplace concerns. The specialised modules are designed to provide employees with knowledge, strategies and resources to deal with a wide range of issues and life experiences. Your employees and their immediate family members can receive support in person or over the phone and through a variety of issue-based health and wellness resources. Page 3
4 Workshops and Activities Office Workstation Ergonomic Assessment Ergonomic assessments of individual office workstation set up. Recommendations and/or instruction for adjustment to equipment, posture or behaviour provided. Consolidated report of assessments and recommendations provided. Approximately 4 workstations assessed per hour Physical Activity Sessions One-off onsite exercise sessions delivered by a fitness instructor. Sessions include Zumba, Tai Chi, Pilates and resistance exercises with body weight and bands. Healthy Eating Cooking Demonstrations Healthy Eating cooking demonstration by a qualified Dietitian. Includes food preparation, demonstration and bite size tastings of healthy food choices. Price includes food for up to 30 staff Life! Program The Life! program is a free lifestyle behaviour change program, funded by the Victorian Government for people at risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. The program can be delivered in the workplace where participants are equipped with the skills and support to adopt healthier lifestyle habits to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Bike Safety Workshop 1hr workshop demonstrating basic bike set-up and bike handling skills. Information on road rules and safety tips are discussed to help keep you safe on the road and build road confidence. Health and wellbeing poster series Up to 12 Health & Wellbeing poster kits for display at the workplace. Three (3) kits will be delivered per site every 3 months over a period of 1 year. Posters include messages about Healthy Weight; Healthy Eating; Sun Smart messages; QUIT Smoking, Diabetes and more Page 4
5 Corporate Gym Programs Gym Membership Affordable gym memberships are available at our Lucas Community Gym. Public access to gym is 6:00am-8:30am; 12:00pm- 2:00pm; 4:00pm-8:00pm and Saturdays 7:00-11:00am. Corporate Group Fitness Programs Customised exclusive group fitness programs to suit your employees. Available early mornings and/or evenings Corporate Team Challenges Talk to our Fitness Trainers about designing a corporate team challenge to get your employees motivated and inspired - e.g. Pedometer challenge or a 10 week training program for a fun run, walk or Tough Mudder competition. 6 Workplace Medicals BCH General Practice has 4 general practice clinics with a team of both male and female doctors providing a wide range of services, including Work Cover claims. Clinics are located at Lucas, Sebastopol, Wendouree and Smythesdale. To make an appointment call Ph: Mon - Fridays 8:30-5:00pm Pre-Employment Medicals Pre-employment health checks are available including: Medical history Physical assessments Diagnostic screenings as required looks forward to providing health promotion programs tailored to support your unique staff health and wellbeing needs in the workplace. If a topic or program that you are looking for is not listed, please contact us to determine if we can accomodate your request. Return travel costs apply for work places located outside of Ballarat at a rate of 50c/km. A minimum of 4 weeks notice is required to confirm a booking. Cancellation fees apply for health check and immunisation no-shows and presentations cancelled within 3 days of booking date.
